I would recommend a KZread channel who specializes in Subies called Smeedia for a good source of information. Reliability mods that I would recommend include; Equal headers (Pro: reduces the chance of rod knock Con: loss subie rumble), Multi-layered metal head gasket paired with ARP head studs, and a aftermarket oil pick up paired with baffled oil pan. I sure there are people that are far more knowledgeable then me but this is what I have found has helped to ensure alittle more reliability. Most important thing to is to do as much research as you can before doing any mods. Hope this helps.

@@kingsmustrise Def would like to work on a manual e46 or try my hands on a bike build. But I got a mini polar bear of a dog (Great Pyrenees) so a truck would make more sense 😅All up in the air for now, anything to keep me busy ✌

250kmils engine you are definitely a warrior but I am afraid that I would check compression first change oil/plugs/filters, fuel filter probably. Bottom needs ball joints/drop links, all bushings probably, change oil in diff well its gonna be warriorlike for your wallet. I dont know how much did it cost I assume in the range between 1500-2500

Hey Birdy! There’s a oem gasket kit you can use to reseal the engine. These are known for all kinds of leaks. Also check the rear subframe to make sure it’s still in good shape. Check the coolant tank by the radiator to make sure the levels stay the same and it’s not milky coolant. Hopefully this helps!

Hey heads up birdy I believe what you have there is a Impreza rs those are usually none turbo rwd subies sti, and wrx are the turbo charged AWD models but I’m not sure if there are some rs models that came AWD

@@kingsmustrise yea your motor has a lot of similarities to my wrx motor but another part where they differ is rs motors are sohc(single overhead cams) and the wrx sti are dohc (dual overhead cams) but I believe the motors have the same weakness with the oil pickup tube and oil pan that would be my first mod to improve reliability

@teddycortez3757 Subaru never made a rwd Impreza. All rs , 2.5i , Wrx and Sti are Awd. You can definitely tell it’s not an rs if it don’t have an intercooler on top and if it’s sohc.

Make sure you check the rear strut towers. They rust there all the time. The rear quarters also rust from the inside out. Also I hope you know you bought an Impreza and not a Wrx
