Hank, I have watched you ever since I was a young kid - every Saturday morning!!! You are an icon of the sport and a legend to me. All that being said - $90,000!!!!! Who can afford that??? The wealthy and that is it. It is such a shame that the cost of bass fishing has become so expensive.

Well when I was 18-20 years old (1990 era), a top of the line 20' bass boat had a single axle trailer, 150hp motor, $250 trolling motor, one cranking / running battery, one trolling motor battery, maybe two live wells, a rod locker, a couple other storage compartments, s simple helm, etc. That boat was $20,000. I couldn't afford one then, either. Lots of people had them, but no young folks... You didn't need a 125lb thrust trolling motor that had i-guide or whatever, you didn't have an iphone to control the trolling motor, there were no power pole anchors, there was no GPS system, there were no $7500 screens with 19 different views of underwater, no stored paths through the water, etc. People have accepted larger boats, larger motors, more luxuries. I see the Joneses fixing "charcuterie packs" in storage boxes they bought at Home Goods and think they are uppity on the water with their box wine and meat and cheese. I'm over here eating a simple ham sammich, some Ruffles chips and a cold Co-cola. I'm good. Ranger is a business and they employ a lot of highly skilled people. It takes lots and lots and lots of money to pay those people (who would go work for SeaRay, Phoenix, Triton, etc), to pay health insurance premiums, overhead and all the BS government fees, taxes and regulation costs. Ranger has to develop a product and produce it with skill and quality or they go out of business. The keeping up with the Joneses will buy the expensive boats, they figure out a way to justify a $100k boat, while housing and feeding a family of 4.... I don't know how it's done either, but I don't care as long as I don't end up paying for it. Best thing I can advise - buy a boat when times are bad, like what we are heading into. Save up for that, buy it, pay cash, take care of it. Save up along the way for the next one. Buy another one when the times are bad cycle hits again, sell the old one when times are good. Repeat that cycle, one day you WILL have the $100k boat....

You don’t need a brand new 90K boat, I paid 1/3 of that for mine used and I can almost guarantee it is faster than his.

Thanks Hank, I’m with you 100% I’m a long time Ranger owner myself. I’m currently running a 2016 521-c and it still looks and performs like new!!!!! I just celebrated my 68th birthday….. I’m retired now and using the heck out of my Ranger!!!

I have a 2002 Ranger 195. I paid $44k new. I realize there's around a $20k adder for electronics and power poles, but I still an't get past the $100k+ price. But they sure are beautiful. I'd love to own one. I totally dig the custom factory install for the electronics. So well done. The only thing I don't like is the lack of a Yamaha SHO on the stern. As far as I know Mercury is the only option this year.

So grateful for you sharing, may never own a boat yet its incredible to witness the legacy & craftsmanship Mr. Wood aspired to for all us bass fisherman. So inspiring to hear about your dedication, loyalty & integrity to the company Mr. Parker. Fishing teaches you so many skills applicable to life. Peace & Blessings!

While beloved Mr Wood is gone, the Hoppers and Keith Daffron are now the owners at Vexus, while these people made Ranger what it was…they left when WRMG came in and started making changes to make more money using materials which were cheaper., something Johnny said he wasn’t going to do. This happens many times when large companies buy out smaller ones. One hopes that the “cheaper” material is just as good as what was used before. That being said there are many good people in Flippin and Mtn Home AR that are still proud to build our Rangers, and make them to the best of their ability. I own 6 of them currently and hope these people continue to care about the quality of products they are producing as I too still feel these are the best boats !

Love ya brother and I’ve followed ya for years but please go easy on product pushes. I think we are all subject to about as much advertising as we can take on utube alone! It’s your channel and I’m not telling anyone what to do, and it’s a great boat, but I’d be willing to bet most of us could not afford in this economy especially without sponsorship. Take care brother!

Respectfully, you realize you’re asking him not to go to work. The thumbnail and title makes this video very clear that he’s talking about his Ranger. He’s doing his job to promote a company that has also supported him his whole career. Very easy to not watch this video.

That boat is way out of the league for the average fisherman....who can afford to spend $85,000 just to go fishing 20 or 30 times a year? Now if you're trying to make a career by fishing this might be a great investment. Not only is the boat expensive but you need a good truck or SUV to pull it around which sets you back another $45,000 if you're lucky. So now we're talking over $140,000 bucks just to do some fishing...thats just crazy! They continue to take the fun out of fishing with all the tech gadgets...I understand when you're trying to win a $100,00 tournament you want every advantage you can get, the pro's probably have $250,000 invested in their Truck, boat, and fishing gear....but it just seems a little ridiculous for the average fisherman. Whats next, a lure that has a camera in it that will run right in the fishes mouth? If it no longer becomes a challenge to catch them the fun is gone. Same thing has happened to deer hunting...if you don't have $25,000 in clothes, a $2,500 rifle, a $25,000 UTV and own 1000 acres of property you aren't a hunter.

Sure would like to have one.....but will have to settle with my 2009 Ranger 198vx. Today's new boats are just not affordable. Absolutely no reason a new boat should cost more than the vehicle that tows it. They keep saying they want to grow the sport.....well....make things a little more affordable.....lol

Padded front deck, adjustable seating positions, air circulation system, roomy compartments...All the other brands have these features too. What sets Ranger apart from the competition? Why are Ranger's $10-20K more than the competition? Why do the back compartments not have gas shocks for the lids but other compartments do? Lack of attention to detail is found throughout Ranger boats. Ranger may be known as a quality boat manufacturer in the past, but all this time the competition has caught up and surpassed Ranger imo. My dad loves Ranger but I'll never understand why. I even caught my very first bluegill in a Ranger. Ranger makes it difficult for consumers to give them their money.
