Awesome buy! I recently sold my 2.2i Z3, and i really miss it. They're great little cars, just don't neglect the cooling system! I also recommend you drive it a bit without the hardtop, its extremely heavy and removing it makes the car feel a lot faster. Mods wise, the first thing you should do is get it a strut brace as these cars tend to tramline into creases and bumps on the road at high speeds and its a little sketchy.

Rio356 thank you for the tips man! Iv found that it does tramline a bit so suspension and handling was first on the list. I'm keeping the hardtop on for now through the winter but I may do a test to see if I can notice it

Nice car, I two have a 1998 Z3 I bought it in 2012 and to date only has 28000 miles on the clock with load of extras from new, my only complaint is the boot is small, the best point is on a sunny day put the electric hood down and she goes like stink.

You're probably better off with the 1.9 over the 2.2 engine, the early 2.2s had all sorts of problems that tend to be rather expensive to sort and can wreck the engine if they're left. You did well getting one with a hard top, those things are expensive and hard to find as well as being very sought-after so it's a serious bonus getting one with the car...

For someone who bought a z3 I had a question. Found a year 2000 z3 with 124k miles. Price on it is $2500 (which would be 1900 pounds) good price? Anything I should look for to see if anything is wrong?

124k isn't too bad but id say thats a little over priced, main checks is make sure the roof doesn't leak or let any moisture in, check for rust in the arches, sills and boot (the boots tend to leak on z3's) theres loads of checks you can do, take it for a drive and make sure everything works and runs how it should.. just make sure the engine isn't warm when you turn up as people often warm up cars when they want to hide something! Do a quick search online on the forums :) good luck man

watch out for the rear differential weld and the water pump common on the z3

3.0L it was very reliable it never gave me a single problem, had it in great shape. I had to sell it because of bad road conditions. Will buy one again when I graduate university.

Fabien Beddard Just treat it well on the streets the z3 have the subframe problems same as the m3. But fixing it is easy. The previous owner had it crashed from behind which might have been the issue of it.

You are so lucky it came with the hardtop. Im looking for one but cant find any :/

A1EX yeah the guy said it was rare to find one with a colour coded hardtop! I found a few but they were tatty

thanks man! nice man :) i cant really give you an answer to that at the moment as i haven't driven it daily! from my research these engines are solid.. and i haven't owned a bmw before so I'm looking forward too driving it. i've got an '01 with the 3.0l inline 6 with 71k miles now. owned for 2 years and 6k miles. No problems, just basic maintenance. also pre-emptively changed water pump because I was hearing a faint squeak. turned out to just be cracked water pump belt.

M44 engine I see I have a 318i e36 same engine the induction air gain helps will do a video on it and show you
