Brings back memories of me speed testing my RD250 past Hanningfield Reservoir back in the 80's.

A cautionary tale. A couple of months ago I bought a black CB750 Hornet. In less than 6 weeks and 1,300 miles the tank had many, easily visible, wear marks from my clothing. My warranty claim was rejected as it was deemed as normal wear. So it would appear Honda's paintwork normal wear is under 1,300 miles. I also have wear marks on the frame from changing gear. I had none of these issues on my previous 2008 Honda which I covered 128,000 miles on. I've therefore come to the conclusion the quality of the Honda paintwork these days is not what it used to be. However, the bike is excellent!!!

@@thesouthernbiker Also, the dealer said it's because they now use eco friendly paint. I've no idea what echo friendly paint is or if this is true, but I think this shows they are well aware of the problem.

@@mrcintheuk4641 I dinged my Cb125f (2023) while removing my top box, the paint chipped and scratched extremely easily, but it didn't damage the material. Compare that to most cars, usually metal or plastic bodywork would dent with minor if any damage to the paint.

Congratulations on recieving your new ride for 2024. You will certainly enjoy the difference between 125cc and 500cc. Strangley enough I went the opposit way recently. I have the Honda NT 1100 and just purchased a CB125F for the daily commute. Enjoy and I look forward to the content to come in 2024. Ride safe. Cheers

Hi Tommy, glad you have bought a larger Honda, the same as my second bike in 2019. I really loved my 2019 CB500f, but found an annoying buzz at around 65mph. I then went to a privately sourced 2019 Yamaha Tracer 700, and the differences were substantial. 3 more kg and 25 more HP makes a big difference! Worth considering if you trade up again. But, the Honda is a great bike, and returned my about 92 mpg! Yamaha about 67MPG. All best for your journey, Robert

Will be at least two years till I can get something bigger but heres to hoping. Also I'll have to keep an eye out for that buzz. Stay safe out there!

Passed my test a week ago and went straight to my Honda dealer to pickup my 2022 CB550F. Already loving it. I wish you well and safe journeys.

wd passing the test, feels great to get that monkey off your back doesnt it :) the cb500f is a great choice, almost every review is positive, and every rider i know who's got one loves it - have to say the first thing i thought about on the vid is the helmet on the saddle rolling off into the road with a gust of wind or road vibration haha. I love my cb125f & have gone bigger myself mainly for the experience and not so much the need, but would be lieing if i said i didn't wanna get a buzz boosting it with the right hand now and again. GL and stay safe.

I'm doing my mod 1 & 2 this year, currently on a CB125f but the 500 looks a great upgrade.

I'm loving it so far. If you're getting your A licence you could also look at the 650f. Good luck with your tests!

@@thesouthernbiker if you mean the honda cb650r, could i be so bold as to suggest that a twin cylinder bike may be a better option for a newly minted rider? i say this because from what i researched and asked, a 4 cylinder has the torque at the high end and isn't as comfortable & easy to ride at lower speeds than a 2 cylinder, when the torque is much lower down in the range that will be used most often, hence better for beginners. maybe someone with more experience than i could say for sure.

@@Bob-ts2tu I was thinking about the cb650f but I have no idea how many cylinders that has. But yea having something that isn't too crazy is better for a new rider.

@@thesouthernbiker just checked, there was a cb650f till 2017 with 4 pipes like the 650r has now. i suppose you get used to anything in time but the 2 cylinder seemed a better fit for me at least. GL
