After 20 years of teaching in a regular classroom setting, I was asked to take on the role of elementary principal and reading intervention for the small Christian school I work for last year. It was a hard year of learning but so amazing! It was a leap of faith, but I know it was God’s perfect plan. So glad you listened. Excited for you! Praying the Lord pours His peace and wisdom over you. Know that there will be many days you feel like you’ve failed but you are doing so much good. Gif has been preparing you and now it’s time to leap!

I've been following you for quite sometime. I've learned a lot and implemented some of your creations in my classroom. However, as I was watching your videos, I noticed there was a mising spark in your eyes that lead me to think you were not happy in that place. I think that when we reach to that breaking point, it means it is time to move forward. I believe that you outgrown. You have done so so much for the teaching community that it is impossible to try making changes from the classroom out. You need to be in a position that allows you to make those changes from outside to inside. I think you are in the right spot, you don't know what other opportunities will arise from there. I wish you the best of luck in this new journey and please never stop posting ideas for teaching. ❤

I must admit I was sad to hear that you were leaving the classroom. It seems that all the good and upper elementary teachers that I follow are leaving; however, I am so excited and happy for you. Next I purchased your book and have read it through twice!! The first was a read through(did that in a day because I was so motivated). The second time I highlighted and took notes because it was so amazing!! I am rethinking my ELA Block thanks to you. Best of luck on your future adeventures. Alicia from CT

Bridget, To say I was shocked is an understatement, as I know how much you LOVE your classroom. How fortunate will these people in these districts be with having your expertise. My question is did the LIU reach out to you or you to them? Also will your literacy work be based on Science of Reading and/or something else? As a now 36 year classroom teacher…..I am thrilled for you❤️❤️❤️❤️

What pulled you to take this job? You mentioned you were going to be paid less, so it had to be a different factor. Did you want a break from kids? Or were you just not happy in your new school district? We’re you upset that you had to move to 3rd grade self contained? We’re you searching for other jobs in general or did you specifically want out of the classroom? What was going through your head when you applied? What are you looking forward to the most in this new position? Are you hoping this will be a stepping stone for something else in the future?Or do you think you will do this long term? Why did you say this would be. Better fit for your family? What exactly did you mean by that? Is there better hours? Do you have to work all year long? Will your schedule be similar to a teachers schedule? I am looking forward to your future videos!!

I can't even remember a time wasn't following you! I am in the Child Care Realm and have been in every position including Director but now I am the Curriculum Creator for our whole center. I write and provide lessons and materials for every age, 6 wks to 12 yrs old. And I love it. In daycare the staff turnover is high and the children are craving consistency. I am able to tweek my curriculum to the engagement of the children and the present skill and supported growth of the teachers. I am able to do what I do because you've been coaching me all along! This new job seems like a natural progression for you and your gifts as a what I see as a current Renaissance Educator. An Educator wise enough to educate the student, the peer group of teachers, and the System itself all at once! Bravo and Thank you ❤

I’ve been a subscriber since your first days in the life of a kinder teacher vlogs 😂 I left the classroom this year as well. It’s strange transitioning from working with kids to working “for” kids.. I am also working from home so I am very excited to watch your journey. My questions are, do you still have summers off or will you work year-round now? Also, you had spoken about a pay decrease. I was shocked to hear that because where I live you can’t make any less than a teacher so any role outside the classroom usually seems to pay more.. could you explain your experience with that a little more? Good luck on your new journey, I cannot wait to follow along!

I believe the classroom teaching position would have gotten harder, more stressful, and more demanding. You were created for more and sometimes what goes on at a campus can be exhausting, make you sick, and take the joy of what you love. These last two years have changed education in so many ways. The demands in teachers have increased substantially but the support has decreased. I wish you the best as well as the best for your family. Having a happy and healthy mom and wife is a blessing to your loved ones and you will feel so rejuvenated with positive challenges in your new position. God truly has a purpose for you. The people at your previous campuses that supported you will be proud and the ones that created obstacles lost someone who loved students and teaching.

I just came across your channel. Sounds like we may be in the same area. I’m pretty sure you are going to work in the IU for my district. Either way, wishing you the best of luck.

Congratulations on the new position I'm sure you will be fantastic. Thank you for all your videos over the years and the podcast with Michelle which I absolutely love listening to as it is so relatable and fun. My question is, did you want to leave because you were unhappy with your school and your new position, or was it that you just wanted a change?

Congratulations! For the Q&A: At what point in the school year did you start putting in applications for the LIU? April-May? Right at the start of January or even June? Thanks!

How does one get a job such as this? Do you plan to do this forever or will you go back to teaching in a classroom?

I’m happy for you and feel you will do a great job, but this is why education continues to plummet. The best teachers are leaving the classroom to take other positions. The support positions are growing and growing leaving unexperienced teachers in the classroom thus the revolving door of teachers and staff. I by no means fault you. The best of the best are earning these positions, which is leaving the schools with lesser qualified staff in the long run. I see both sides, but feel the students would be better served with the most qualified teachers in the classroom, not supporting other initiatives.
