It may sound unbelievable - but I still use the Olympus m43 system. Cameras still work (even after Olympus has sold the camera division), lenses are still tiny and lightweight, image quality is still fine with me, I still use the 80 MP pixel-shift hi-res mode for scanning (no other system can give me that for so view bucks), and I still have fun using them. No need to leave a channel that uses Fuji now (I did consider this system myself, but it didn't "click" for several reasons, not only lack of money ;-)). As others say: I'm here for the photography (and the inspiration), not the brand. Even though I have to admit that the use of Olympus m43 brought me here in the first place …

1st visit to your channel. A very interesting and pleasant one. I pre-ordered an X-Pro2 the moment it was first announced and after I saw Lok Cheung using one on DR-TV. I have added an X-T2, X-T3, X-T4 and most recently an X-T5 to my kit but I still find the X-Pro2 is my 'Go-To' camera when I am out and about on the streets of London. And generally it has a 23mm f2 on. So I was really happy to see your choice of cameras. Then you visited Scarborough, a place I visited recently and enjoyed, so even more great memories. I really enjoyed your video so I am off now to look at your other work. Thanks and Regards.

As a retired senior hobby photographer , I have no idea why I bought an XS20 to "backup" my XT4. Good idea at the time I suppose. The XS20 was the right size for me on our European vacation last year. Great walkabout camera. Shouldn't have sold my XE-4 though. At least the XT4 & XS20 use the same battery which is a convenient bonus.

I think there is a fairly strong argument for a second camera body that is in your main camera system, but is also used in a different way and for different things. typically, I'm using an X-H1 and an X-T2, and this is the perfect combo for me. Same sensor, same performance, but the X-H1 having a larger grip for when I need it is nice, just as well as the X-T2 is smaller for when I want to do street photography and just simply document my life. before the X-H1, I had an X-T1, and was using it alongside the X-T2. But the fact that those two camera had the exact same form factor and usecase made them redundant and the X-T1 spent most of its time on a shelf, because the X_T2 was the thing I was grabbing first. Same thing happens with 2 identical cameras. It's always nce when you're paid for a shoot, but the moment you do photography for yourself, one stays on the shelf and one gets in the bag. Getting cameras in different form factors allows to enjoy them both, and therefore to get more out of the money we spend on these things

The X-Pro2 was my favorite camera from Fujifilm. I loved using that camera so much that I trained myself to switch to being a right-eyed user to take advantage of the right-hand operation of the camera. About the time you switched to Fujifilm from Olympus was about the time I did the opposite. 🙂 Funny thing is that I had to have a backup camera for my OM-1 from 2016 and it is the Pen F. 🤪 Glad to see you are enjoying Fujifilm - it was an enjoyable journey for me for seven years.

I bought one of these as a second body for wedding and street photography in 2020 and have never looked back. They are so much fun to use. Whatever the Xpro3 has to offer is not worth the premium and though I'd like a Leica (geddit?) again the bang for buck equation is wrong. I may get a Xpro4 when it appears but will not drop the Xpro 2!

I'm sad to be reminded of Olympus' demise, even though I never owned any of their cameras. Glad you found a home in the Fujifilm system, where I moved from Canon 5 years ago. I have to sound a note of dissent about your evaluation of the X-Pro3 vs the X-Pro2. The X-Pro3 has become my primary camera and allowed me to sell my X-Pro2 without any regret. The controversial flip-down screen is actually the perfect implementation of a "tilting screen" for the X-Pro line: 1) discrete 2) quick to flip up or down 3) horizontal orientation perfect for shooting from the hip 4) very helpful info about settings available even without turning on the camera 5) much better OVF that does not attempt to adjust to lenses outside the ideal focal range 6) it has Classic Negative color profile. In short, to me it's perfect for street photography and urban landscape. It's hard for me to see how I would go back to the X-Pro2 or even upgrade to an eventual X-Pro4. To each his own. Enjoy the X-Pro2. Cheers!

Had an x100v for about 2 months. Decided my XT-4 with 23mm does exactly the same thing and with fully articulated screen so what was the point. Sold it out at par value, made no money, lost no money. Bought some Viltrox 1.4 lenses for dry night conditions. Although tbh, the fuji f2 with 6 stops of ibis can do the same and are smaller lighter lenses and bokeh at 1.4 is a tad muddy for my taste. I may be wrong but for street/ urban work and XT-4 and the range of WR lenses are just about all that's needed and probably for ever. Who really needs more than 24mp unless you are a pro.

Very good point in your last sentence: same for me (just with swapped eyes). And probably also for everyone else. As if in earliest childhood, the brain would decide for one eye to become dominant = better wired to the brain's higher-level areas which interpret and "feel" images, whereas the other eye gets a supporting role of helping with focusing and 3D reasoning. Seeing a scene through one eye is more intense, more immersive, than through the other eye. To an extent which cannot be explained by only marginal resolution differences. Therefore it is also not a solution to "just get used to the other eye" for rangefinder style viewfinders. As it is not about resolution, but how intense a scene is perceived, therefore about composition in the end 👍

Yes, the nose is actually the core of all "problems". Actually with all camera designs, but with rangefinder styles a bit more pronounced. It is a pity, that most camera viewfinders seem as if designed by flat-nosed Japanese engineers for only themselves as prototype users 😉

I need direction so hopefully joining e-6 I’ll finally print something rather than leave all my images on hard drives. Keep the Greta content.

I recently bought the x pro2 for my street photography, I really don't think there's anything I don't like about it. As you say, taking photos should be fun and I definitely get that from my x pro. Coupled with the 23 and 35 f2's, it's just about perfect for my needs and feels much less clinical than my landscape photography setup, which is the Nikon z6.

Not into the brand bashing thing. Always a turn off. I'm primarily a Nikon DSLR shooter (D500 and D850) for sports, portraits, and landscapes. I just got into Olympus MFT for more portability and fun. So far so good. I probably bought some of your used Olympus gear from MPB or KEH. It's all good.

Good choice Craig, I have the X-Pro2, lovely camera to use. Not great I found for long exposures at night I had a lot of hot pixels to clone out, but for day to day work, faultless. Funnily enough the day I bought my Leica Q2 I asked the retailer to charge the battery while I went walkabout in town, by absolute chance I dropped onto a street protest, so I fired up the X-Pro2 and cracked on. This camera produced some of my favourite protest shots. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nJqK2KitYai0lqQ.html

4:07 you're using it wrong, Rangefinder cameras are to be shot with both eyes open to contextualize shots. You're closing your non-viewing eye and, presumably, missing what's coming into frame.

Overpriced is a really lazy refutation of Leica. They're hand made and handle like little indestructible tanks. The lenses are so good they're handed down generationally. Like just "too expensive" is a self critique.
