I love my Buccaneer. I run it with 2x DR Model -xj1 distortion repeaters, 2 Panther repeaters and a Rhino repeater. You do have to practice fire control but you don't need a long burst to destroy most targets. Great in PVE. The one time I was jumped by a player in an arrow it took 2 bursts to send him to the cloner.

Do the two s1 distortion repeaters provide a better result with 3.18? Compared to using the regular s1 repeaters? And why the Rhino instead of dual Panther turret? Just asking :) Thanks!

Replace the S4 hardpoint with the Buccaneer Spinal turret and you can put 2xS2 on the roof giving you even more dps.. so it matches the F7C in max firepower

In the latest patch, unless you are running lasers, it is better to keep the size 4 and use the AD4B ballistic gatling gun. Great ammo and the best DPS for S4s, and with the up and coming buff to ballistics it'll be even more broken. Also, unless you like the Bucc for it's size, the Hornet can do almost 10k more damage in terms of missiles and has 6k more hull HP, and when stealth gets an update, the Hornet Ghost will once again rule as king o7

Wait, I'm just getting into this game so sorry if this seems obvious, but... are 2xS2's really better than a single S4 (generally speaking)? That seems... ridiculous and counterintuitive to me, coming from Elite Dangerous, where even two of the highest grade fixed S2s can't touch a single gimballed S4.

With good aim and choosing your shots, ballistic cannons, are KILLER on the Buc xD

I got the game this weekend and been having a blast. Trying to learn though, I still feel a bit overwhelmed. :D

With the shield change to allow more damage to pass with ballistics, the Bucc is gonna slap in 3.18 🔥🔥🔥💥

I got the buccaneer because I thought it looked cool. I've flown it alot but I'm not good at ship fighting yet but it's real fun to use

I love this for VHRTs. I got one as a loaner also for the Corsair and was always using the Connie for my PvE but I think I just have more fun with this. I don't really know how my times compare I just always have fun when I take the ship out.

There's something very satisfying about using the Bucc for sure!

I heard a lot of SC players making fun of people engaging them with a Buccie, but I realyl think it is very underrated. I am still a beginner after 1 1/2 months playing SC and the Buccie was my first light fighter I bought. I am currently playing around with different loadouts and I want to try a full ballistic Hit and Run PvP loadout to see how that works out for Player Bounty hunting or bounties in general. And yes I must say I love the appearance of the Buccie a lot. It really looks like a fighter for outlaws and bountie hunters that has gone through some shit :D

The Drake Buccaneer was love at first sight for me. A friend had a Corsair when I started and got a Buccaneer as a loaner, and just seeing it was an awesome experience, but when I got to try it out for a bit, I fell head over heels. I was able to get my hands on one during the 2951 Drake Defense Con. It has the same issues as the Anvil F7C Hornet unfortunately, meaning that in its role as a medium interceptor fighter (even though its frame is one of the smallest in the verse) the capacitors it boosts are a bit lackluster. Nevertheless it's still one of my favourite ships.

@@BeardofOz It also looks like a propper Starfighter instead of just a contemporary fighter jet that someone transported into space (looking at you, Arrow) and the cockpit is just this pure unadulterated function over form all the way. It's metal and electronics and that's it. The only part that is a bit more fancy is the seat, and only in the way that you won't have to sit sores into your bottoms for planting yourself for 12 hours on hard plastics.

I always chuck an ADB4 on the top mount, ADB's are the only ballistic atm that has a good ammo amount

I love using the ADB on the Buc

It low key remind me of my favorite star wars fighter arc 170 its the engines

Also have one as a loaner. I like this ship. But i prefer the Warlock. Warlock is more useful because of the compartment and it has the EMP which is fun. And I fight better in the Warlock.

I haven't played around with the Avengers a lot tbh (even though the Titan was my first ship) I'll have to revisit them.

I kinda want to see an Avenger Stalkerized version of the Bucc, with living area and some bounty pods.

I am suprised to see how this ship seems to be despised by other players as I never saw player-operated Buccanners when I play, contrary to the Gladius. May be because of the cockpit frames in the field of view ? My Buccanner is equipped with spinal mount-mounted CF227, 2 gimballed CF227 and 2 S1 gimballed yellowjackets, plus Grade-A military components, I just LOVE it. I also tried to installed to S2 gimballed gatling guns on inner wing mounts, that does the kob very well, only inconvenient is you will have to closely look to the ammunition counter, and then frequently go for resupply. But great little fighter with a great potential, and afforfable in game ^^

I'm in love with this ship and I haven't bought it yet, after I buy the corsair, I'm going for this one.

I'll have to give the Buc a fair shake. One of the few fighters I haven't messed with

I have fond memories of the Blackburn Buccaneer. I wish it had a bomb bay with an Almighty-God-size Torpedo in it, ready to rotate out for launch - like the Blackburn.This one is more of a pod-racer for someone who a) is not a Jedi and b) really, really, has to win.

all 3 ships i own are drake. Buccaneer, Cutty Black, and Vulture. love the asthetic

It's definitely a fighter that has become my firm favorite and go to. I may not run the all energy loadout that you seem to favor in this video, but instead I go for dual size one deadbolts on the wings a AD4B up top and keep the size 3 repeaters. Doing that allows the size 3 repeaters to keep a significant capacitor of 46 shots and the combination of the size one deadbolts in conjunction with the AD gives you a decent ballistic capability and ability to punch through shields.

I've been running it stock in the PTU with the ballistic changes. Once the weapon switches don't bug out I'll try newer combos, but the mixed loadout is going to become the Norm soon I think.

@@BeardofOz going by my experience with both the Buccaneer and the Vanguard Warden I agree. I think a few people sleep on the Buccaneer, but the ability of both those two ships to carry such fantastic mixed loadouts is definitely going to become a winning factor once the PTU becomes the PU

See, hunting large ships with a fighter craft is why I want the buc with all ballistic weapons. Fly in, hammer the hull ignoring their shields. Disengage before my shields go down, Repeat then fly away and rearm. It can take a few runs for a titan to take out a hammerhead. The extra weapons on the buc should help.

I run it with the Spinal mount, and gimbles in all other slots, with makes it have 4 size 2 + 2 Size 1 weapons, plus 8 size 1 Arrow missiles And for the weapons I use all Neutron Cannons. DPS goes to 1028k in close ranges for up to 500-700m. this thing is fast and while not as maneuverable as an arrow, the gimbles more than compensate for that. My argument for the gimbles is simple... I like Neutron cannos, but they only go up to Size 2... the spinial mount is a gimble, and putting gimbles on size 1 slots doesnt change a thing... so removing size 3 for gimbled sizes 2s isnt that big of a deal for me. Try this setup out, you'll melt your bounties away.

I was lucky enough to get thr Bucc as a loaner for my Caterpillar and Arrow as a loaner for my Freelancer. The Arrow is astoundingly agile but the bucc just has so much more firepower its better for PVE by a large margin IMO.

I love the idea of the Bucc, but the flight profile ROTVs / accels and atmo flight profile are not good enough. Combined with the fact that capacitor gameplay has resulted in the high number of hardpoints only being able to put out average DPS - it simply isn't a serious contender (in PVP at least).

For the most part I don't PVP so luckily a lot of the the 'META' issues don't outweigh what I enjoy (mechanically and aesthetically).

I was going to get one but a LOT of people said it was not a good choice for a beginner fight pilot. Went for the Arrow. Good ship and easy to learn but the Bucc is still on my list! =)

As much as I'd like to say that's the case, the Ares Inferno would be.

Like all the buc guns but until adds armor, make components matter and better balance weapon types the meta remains. Gladius, Arrow, [new] Blade. Buc guns best config S3x2 vs s4 faster recharge more applied dps.

bucc is fun and but is to fragile in high end pvp. it has the Ares syndrome of wobbling as soon as the engines get nicked.

@@ZevesG It depends on who is piloting.

Using all gimbaled mounts it dishes out the same DPS as a tana with toshima mounts all gimballed. With bigger fixed repeaters it has lower sustained DPS but a couple hundred more in burst. CIG has removed the advantage of sizing up on fixed mounts. You get same sustained with smaller gimbal weapons and should hit more shots so faster TTK. The only time sizing up for fixed is beneficial is from s4 to s5 as that is a massive increase in DPS. No other step in weapon sizing makes enough DPS increase to offset the gimbal aim assist. Gimbal weapons down a size and you should kill faster as the gimbal aim assist will hit more shots than fixed for most people. You lose no sustained DPS, but will lose a bit in burst.

I was a bucc fan till I learned how to use the Arrow.

After I get a Connie, the Bucc is next on the list of ships to buy in game. I love my Drake's Cutty Black and Red are my typical daily ships.

I love slapping Buccos in space. Sub-target those iconic Drake thrusters and then watch the pilot flounder about in their iconic Drake non-ejection seat...😁

There is no sub targetting, that's an ED thing...best you can do is aim for the engines.

It's poweplant is too small for it to be terribly useful with all six guns unless you run all ballistic.
