What camera r u using

A friend recommended me doing a Photobook just for myself, not to annoy others but just for me. And it does exactly that, i see the pictures, have the memory and remind myself of the good things i had.

The pic at 2:09 is like one of the most beautiful shots I’ve ever seen and you act like it’s nothing! So talented!

Love your channel, James! The videos have a great vibe: just a calm, humble guy taking photos in wonderful landscapes. Even though I'm not much into hiking myself, your videos are always a great escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Wishing you all the best for this following year, keep it up!

Provided you shoot against the sun often enough, the 70-200 f/2.8 is worth having because even the original E-mount f/2.8 was known to have a lot higher of contrast when shooting into a light source than the f/4 and better flare control. I think you'd have had a lot more trouble editing that sunset shot if you'd used the f/4. And honestly? No really happy memories from photos this year except for one. I accomplished the single goal I'd set myself: redo one of my favorite shots from 2019 the _right_ way. It was a blue hour shot of an all glass building next to a river, taken nearly dead on in the front. It had near total cloud cover during blue hour, just enough to get some pink and purple in the sky. I redid it last month at sunset with much less cloud cover and a front three-quarter angle to hide the clutter currently beside the building. I got to keep my pink and purple and gained blazing orange.

Love the absolute honesty that every photographer can relate to on new purchases … and no excuses needed on the images; they were all great, but mainly because of your personal connection. Can’t wait to see where 2022 takes you, mate.

Great to start the year with another video from you like most other Saturdays. You are justified in having selected those pics. I love nice vistas as much as the next guy but it's easier to tell a story or invoke feelings on photos containing human elements. That said, the castle one is definitely a banger. JAMES iv loved your channel , i binged 11 hours of it over the past few weeks , i always loved photography but never thought to go out and shoot myself . brought a SONY a7 ii with a 28-70mm f3.5. decided to shoot up Croydon, Woldingham , and tomorrow im in London for the day. somehow iv gotten 500 photos over the past week , edited about 30 , posted maybe 10 of them and the result has me exploring so far and wide, i cannot tell you how mutch i love this. I reckon a lot of people, they'd pick their favourite photos just based on the actual photo itself, or the subject. How they nailed the technical aspects, or whatever. I love how for you it's the memory they evoke. That's a really nice way to look at it. Happy new year.

I have to admit, I stopped this video roughly half-way through. I was inside feeling all sorry for myself because I had been sick, but you inspired me to say "screw it" and pack up my a7RIV and head out and shoot some telephoto landscapes. I am so glad I did, because the fog rolled in and I was able to get some moody woodland shots. I don't have the 70-200, but I used the 100-400 GM and I am so happy with the shots I got.

Well done on your favourites all being base don the memories they bring rather than the actual shot - often overlooked. After both my parents died I went through old photos taken by either my dad or my grandad. The think that stood out is how important photos of family and friends are. And also to include in some photos cars and people - the two speak to the era the photo was taken in.

Happy New Year James! I see you still struggling with your lens selection! I'm an amateur, but if it was me I would've bought the mighty 24-105 f4 at the first place, which I have done already! Now with the new gem you got you will be all set! Honestly I dn't see the use of 24-70 f2.8 that much in landscape photography. 24-105 is lighter, cheaper and also that more 35mm in reach makes it an almost the only lens you need most of the time. BTW why not trying a bit of wildlife photography with this new lens and a 1.4 teleconvertor? I bet you will like it! This way you will be all served from 24 to 280mm f4 with a couple lens!

Found myself smiling about having such a blast with my new compact variable-aperture-but-pulse-motored 55-300 for Pentax APS-C, when you just ditched your F4 G Master for the F2.8. But then enjoy what gives you fun, and don't feel guilty about it. After all, life is short and precious, and it shows in our photographs when we're having fun, right? BTW, I bet that glorious inversion was giving you at least as much adrenaline as being able to shoot it with your new lens. Happy New Year to you & yours, James. 🙂

Happy New Year, James! That looks like such a lovely spot. I wonder what temperature it was up there? Really Right Stuff makes ARCA Swiss replacement feet for Sony lenses. They’re quite nice to drop the adapter for tripod use. I have one on my 70-200/2.8 Mk.1.

I have the slightly less exotic sony 70-200 2.8 version 1... it's a nice lens, a little noisy focus unless in c-af tracking then it's quiet. don't use enough to warrant the upgrade but would be nice. happy new year, your adventures are inspirational.

James, I don't shot a lot of landscape anymore. Now it's primarily shots of birds in their environment. Which I suppose one could argue borders on landscape sometimes. But anyway, I wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your channel. The dry humor has me laughing so hard. And the images are superior. You are correct about photos and memories. Isn't that the best reason to take them.

I got the Mk I of that lens second hand and I absolutely love the images I get with it. Most of the time the 24-105 f/4 lives on my camera but when I need that bigger aperture and reach the 70-200 delivers. Hope the knee gets back into shape soon.

Happy New year and an even happier switch to Sony (for us both 🙂). The A7iv arrived on Christmas Eve (thank you Santa) and I'm continually blown away by the photo and video capabilities of this camera (& the A7iii which I've had for a few weeks tbh). Loved Panasonic but Sony is better (IMHO).

I love how the license plate number starts of with the letters RGB , whilst simultaneously there is a beautiful rainbow in the background ...
