    You are right on with your assessment on hull speed on a new yak. I switched from a 2016 Revo 13 to a 2018 PA 14. The Revo is a fast yak but my new PA was noticeably faster!

    You had mentioned scratches on the kayak hull. I make skid plates for the front nose of the pa14. No drilling or tools needed. I make a thin and thick version. If you want one I'll send you one, and take your time testing it out and if you like it all i ask in return is to include it in one of your videos. They are also 100 % removable, and you wouldnt even know it was there. I sold a bunch of them and everyone seems to like them.

    Great info tony! I have a bottom end sundolphin bali 12ss... I bought it cause of your channel, and got her out at least 50 times over the summer. I'm definitely going to upgrade for next year! There's several models I've been pricing out with the foot drive pedal setup. I know that you're affiliated with hobie, but is there any chance you could do a side by side with hobie vs. Old time.

    I've made a video of the Old Town Predator PDL. You should check it out. I still think the Hobie is the best all around fishing package. I owned a Hobie way before I became part of their team. When I did my research, it's fit the bill!

    I am glad I found your video. I am in the process of getting a new hull due to exactly the same issue you were talking about behind the seat(6'3' 250lbs). Hobie was great about giving me a prorated price on a 2018, but still disappointed it did not last. Just wondering what you think about the longevity with Hobie PA kayaks. My season in MN is about 5 months and I fish about 25-40 hours June-August a week in it. Do you feel they are made for more than a few years of heavy use? Thank you for the video!

  • @DougFordsr

    @DougFordsr

    6 жыл бұрын

    I can but usually I will put it in the trailer. I pull a 16x7 trailer behind a 36ft rv. I want to downsize the RV but it is what I have right now. Maybe even just get a toy hauler to pull it in. Also While flying I can see for miles around so it would be tough for someone to steal it because I would see them before they see me and it would be tough to get away since I could follow them and call the police from the air if needed. Oh and I bought my hobie for the most part because of your vids.

    On the inside or outside?? I wouldn't recommend either. bed coating is course. If put on the outside it will slow you down a lot. Plus lets not forget about the weight it will add. AND, black will get very hot in the summer and could warp the boat. Just my .02

Also any issues with Boonedox landing gear, that being a Warr boat they covered with the landing gear installed on it? Great videos!! Getting ready to start my channel, hope I don’t freeze up, lol. Thanks, Scott.

    Hey Scott;. The 24 gets you about 1mph faster over the 18lb. I was going between 3.9 and 4.1 mph with it loaded down the other day. Of course this all depends on the weather/water conditions. The 24 really shines over the 18 when it comes to torque. It really helps maintain your speed when you get in the rough stuff. Never had any issues with the boone dox and yes they covered my boat because it had nothing to do with them. Good luck with the channel!

    They only replace the hull. Plus when I get my pro team boat, I'll use the drive from it.

    I thought about using expansion foam, but was worried it would seep into the rudder, skeg and steering cables..

    I think is 38" wide? I may be wrong about that but it's one of the most stable kayaks manufactured.
