    They endured unimaginable trials to gain their freedom and get safely back home. Let this be a lesson:There is NOTHING on this earth a Mother won't due to protect her child.NOTHING. Betty getting Mahtob safely back home on American soil could have easily cost her, her life in that barbaric country but she still took a chance and put her daughter first, because she knew she couldn't let her beautiful child grow up in those awful circumstances. God Bless you Betty🙏💙💙💙

    What a sweet lady! I saw the movie many years ago when it came out. It’s so nice to see the young girl, now a grown, well spoken woman who obviously loves the Lord! Yes, God is so good! I am excited to read her story.

    I haven't read the book , but Sally Field was outstanding in the part of Betty. All those others as well. There were so many that risk their own lives helping her to get back with her daughter. God bless them all. If you haven't seen the movie , I have watched it every time it has aired. This young woman and her mother , such strong women to have endured all they went through. Thank you for sharing your life . May the lord richely bless you. ❤

    Heavenly Father, we come before You, lifting up our dear friend who has endured the enduring weight of abuse for thirty-two long years. The scars run deep, affecting not just the spirit but also their body. Please grant strength and healing to every wounded corner of their being, soothing the pain that time has done. (Psalm 147:3) May their faith in You continue to be a source of enduring hope, guiding our friend through each challenging day. (Romans 15:13) Let Your comforting presence be upon our friend, offering comfort and the assurance that with each passing day, there is a new beginning. In Jesus' name, amen. }

    Based on what her mother said, she points out the different cultures...these days, we aren't even allowed to say that. I'm in the UK and we aren't, as we allow terrorists in and give immediate asylum, whereas others have to fight for a visa. This movie should be a reminder to many that more than 'cultural differences' in completely different religions where killing and beatings with no rights for women are the norm...

    So nice to hear what happened to these two later after the movie ending. My mother told me to watch the movie after she asked me if I would ever marry somebody of a different culture. My first easy answer was sure of that fell in love. But after watching the movie you have to think…..

    I think it depends on how "different" the culture is. If someone is from a place like Canada or Western Europe, it's going to be much more similar to ours than Middle Eastern or Asian.
