About the Project:
Join me as we create a map rich with natural beauties, distant towns and a bustling metropolis. The aim is to create an island that feels as big as a state or territory, including vast biomes, mountains, rivers and an endless coastline. Set in Australia and New Zealand (maybe an island in between), this map takes inspiration from open world video games and the way in which the game devs create such immersive environments, such as GTA 4 and 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 and the Mafia 4 maps. To take it one step further, every thing on the map should feel unique and distinct. No city district, town or mountain should feel or look the same.

So happy you’re back in Oceania!! A lot of creators who have returned to CS1 have been doing wayyy better than expected - so much so that they don’t even go back to CS2 at all. I guess we’ll just have to see what happens with this video when it goes public, but I’m happy you’re enjoying CS1 for the first time in 5 months!!

Cs2 as for content its not yet close to cs1, specially if you are a content creator. I do enjoy cs1 videos, the scale, everything looks much better. Cs2 still has a couple of years and fixes, and may eventually get there. But currently, for watched content i dont even bother watching cs2. While cs1, sign me up!

Super glad you're back here on CS1. CS1 detail content like you produce is just leagues above CS2. With regards to the missing asset issue in case you haven't discovered yet: It's a Steam bug introduced with their latest "QoL" update they did. It's grown fond of randomly unsubscribing folks from assets. Skyve is a great tool to immediately alert you if you are suddenly missing assets from your playlists with a handy little red warning label and showing you which ones you're missing (just make sure Skyve isn't set to auto-save playsets). I've also gotten in the habit of reading EVERY Loading Screen Mod report when I load a save because that will also tell you if you're missing assets used in a city and which ones they are. It's all a super annoying process but worth it to save projects.

When it comes to old train lines, make them super slow increase and decrease in elevation, as old trains with cargo have trouble moving in steep areas. (That means, bridges, cuts trough terrain and following the mountain curves/edges are realistic settings.)

Glad to see Oceania back in the spotlight, awesome video! At 19:12, I reckon that the line might as end Rockmantle since it felt more of a shuttle to connect a bunch of towns to the city. It reminds me of the Souther Highlands Line (a rural line connecting to Moss Vale) where most services terminate at Campbelltown and passengers changes for a suburban train to the city. However if services wants to connect to the city then, usually they would stop at important stops only. For example the new line would just go express to Matilda Point from Rockmantle with no intermediate stops. Those are some reccomendations however I really love how this line turns out so far!

Here's a small suggestion for Dundee/Matilda Point, perhaps you could include a music festival similar to WOMADelaide in one of the city parks or on a purpose built festival ground! I am stoked you are back, I actually felt happy watching you go to town on this map again and I could hear it in your voice as well. So yeah keep it up with CS1 content and looking at the mess that was this weeks... word of the week modding is still a long way off with CS2 so I am sure most of us will be glad to see what you can do with CS1 in the meantime.

So keen for more Oceania! Love this series so much. As for what to do with that valley, where I'm from in NZ there's loads of roads winding around hills and headlands with sheep and horse paddocks. It's very quaint and comfy so could be an idea.

In regards to building bridges for existing train lines over new highways they certainly do Close the train line and build a new bridge over the new highway. They built one at Harcourt in Victoria (Bendigo - Melbourne Line) for the new Calder Hwy as well as at Leawarra for the Peninsula Link Hwy on the Stony Point Line.

I have no clue if this will work/fit in the city but maybe a bit of a logging town could work! Tucked nicely in the hills with the forests all round!

Thanks for coming back! I kind of like the colourful look of CS1. You could build a small fishing city next to the small beach

Really enjoying the series. I had a idea of what you could do with the high town. Where the little indent of the highway is you could put a old abandoned Opal mine with a spur of the train line track going towards it. Then you could name the town near it Opal Grove

This single video has made me fire up CS again, after I dropped off at the launch of CS2. And I'm really getting into it again. Despite the techical limitations of CS, this heavily modded game still rocks! Thanks 2D20!

There’s a bridge I remember in a town called uralla in NSW which has a random bridge that spans over a road it’s very interesting and such a lovely Australian town especially for its classic Main Street style

If you have any available inland spaces you should make a lake and lakeside village a la Lake Eildon and Bonnie Doon. Bonnie Doon was originally where the lake is now before the lake existed but the whole town was moved to higher ground on ox-drawn platforms when a dam was built. There's also a dismantled rail line which is now a walking and cycling track that passes through the village over one of the lake's arms and through some little cuttings.

I really enjoy watching your content, you have a soothing voice and a nice eye for detail. Whether that's CS1 or CS2 doesn't matter. I also particularly enjoy this series because it feel like home. I grew up in and around Wellington, so it's nice to see elements of that here. Especially the J'ville line in this episode. If you want more inspiration for that sort of hilly, curvy train line, I recommend checking out the train line from Christchurch to the west coast of the south Island of New Zealand.

KEEP GOING!!! Its so great to your watch your lovely sc1-crations... I still play SC1 the same nyc-city since the beginning of the pandemic. it now has a 800k-population on 81 tiles and I ve run out of nodes a long time ago. So I try to steal nodes within my existing networks to free up some nodes, to be able to expand beyond the limits. Greetings fropm Germany

Happy to be back in Oceania! Always love watching your series come together For the little beach area, what about a small university over there? Nothing huge and fancy, just focusing on a police academy or a hospitality school that utilizes the beach as part of its campus
