Thank you so much for doing these kinds of videos! When I was younger, my hair was kinky-curly, frizzy, thick, and absolutely unruly. I found myself at the point in the fifth grade where I was breaking down in front of my best friend because I refused to shower (I guess as a child I didn’t realize you could shower without washing your hair...). I refused to shower because I knew when my hair dried, it was going to explode and I was going to be so embarrassed. My best friend’s mom was a hairdresser, and she taught me how to brush my hair and straighten it, which at that time, I am very grateful for her help. However, 10 years later (and a year in beauty school having different colored hair and extensions every week) I had lost my curl completely. I found your channel in November and since my hair is healthy, bouncy, curly, and I’m absolutely in love! Thank you so much for inspiring me and guiding me through my own hair journey!! God bless!!

I walked into my first college class with my hair curly and wore it that way through college. I just said screw it, I am beautiful. I guessed that she straightened her hair, and sge pointed at this girl with these absolutely beautiful curls saying that's what her curls were naturally like. I was shocked that she would straighten her hair then compliment and wish she had my hair!

I just found your channel and I’m so glad you had your mom on here displaying her beautiful wavy, curly locks! Growing up in the 70s and going to high school in the 80s I had the same exact hair as both of you and it was a time when curly hair wasn’t really in until the mid-80s so I started using hot iron tools to smooth my hair and of course got damage and breakage. I have avoided wearing my hair natural as it is just too much to control after the second day I find I just have the frizzies. But, I find I like wearing it this way but can’t maintain it so I have been watching your channel to learn how I can maintain my curls. Yesterday was the first day I wore my hair natural and today’s my second day and I’m already finding it challenging. I went to Target and picked up a bunch of products you recommended and I’m very happy with what I am using so far. I just want to give a shout out to your mom as I am 57 as well and she is really motivating and inspiring me to wear my hair natural and also to take care of myself so that I can try to keep myself looking my best for my age. I love this video. You mother is beautiful and so fun to hear her memories of “styling products”. I was in 5th grade when a blow dryer came out. The supermax blow drier!!!!!! I also remember when we actually had cream rinse. Herbal Essence I think was the first one we used!!!! Everyone wanted to be like Farah Faucet. This journey is just beginning for me and I’m trying to get my hair healthy and following the curly girl method. It’s been about 2 months so far!!!!!! OMG thank you! Love your mom. I am almost 57. Although I tended to leave my hair alone and not style like your mom did, I had straight hair with a slight wave underneath my whole life till hitting my 40’s. It got curly with age. I had got a deva curl cut and the products were too heavy for me as the stylist recommended. My hair was to my elbows and I had a bad day I guess and got 12” cut. Then hated it and got an angled bob a year ago and mostly blew it dry every day. I miss my long curly hair and your channel has helped show how a change in the deva curl products would maybe help. I have what would be 2c with some 2b curls on the top, fine, non porous hair. It is going from a very light blonde to a darker blonde with grays and whiter hairs showing up. But I do not and probably won’t bleach or color my hair.

I remember when blow dryers came out. I had waist length hair and wanted it to look like Cher’s hair...buuuttt...my hair wasn’t straight. Sooooo, before blow driers I used to iron my hair with a clothes iron on an ironing board. I have lived my entire life (and I’m 64 now) struggling to have straight hair. Washing it once sometimes twice a day if I worked out at lunch time - HAD to wash and dry it before work and HAD to wash it again after the workout. So much stress!!!! Due to you, India, I started the CGM a week ago. I’m finally going to accept me as I am and stop fighting nature. It already feels liberating even though it is the early stage. Thank you so much for the inspiration. LOVE YOUR MOM!

I had started putting heat on my hair when I was really young- at age 2 my mom would blow dry my hair and I straightened it heavily for many, MANY years. As I got older I started to love how beautiful some girls looked with curly hair, and after watching this channel, I finally got the courage to wear it myself this way! I’m 51 now and I’ve never went back. India’s channel has been a huge help to me. I would watch her video’s then follow her steps exactly! Lol! I think when people say curls look good on you, but not themselves, they really mean it. If you think about it, usually when people try to go with their natural texture they a) don't really know what they're doing so figuring out how to style (and look good!) takes time, and b) if they have been straightening it for a while and have lot of damage, it literally does not curl as pretty. The problem is that we give up too easily trying to go with our natural curls, rather than giving it time.

Thanks for having your mom on. I'm 59 and just started the CG method. It's nice to have someone in my decade to identify with😁

Gorgeous curls for you both! Products have come such a long way-- it seems easier to embrace natural texture more than ever! The breakage drove me to find CG method and India about a year ago! I got my hair highlighted and got a new flatiron and my hair was breaking off in the iron on first pass! I returned it and haven't looked back! Thanks for this Channel! Thank you so much for this video. I am 48. I totally relate to your Mom. The eighties were my friend for my natural texture,but, then the 90’s 😢. I was really bullied at work with comments like “it looks like you stuck your hand in an ⚡️ socket”. I started straightening and blow drying every day. Now I’m embracing my natural texture again. You both are beautiful and have beautiful hair. Im 55 and yes back in our day we blow dried our hair straight and then used hot rollers and / or curling iron. That’s just how we did it so I didn’t realize how wavy my hair was.
