There's nothing wrong with advising if the choice isn't right... not everyone sees through their partner's intents, and so many separate after ~8 years. But don't go overboard with the advising.

My first fiance and I met when he worked at Hardee's one summer. We both were on summer break, college and high school. We hit it off and he knew my family for awhile before I met his. They were nice and I immediately knew that they were well-to-do. They liked me until one night he had car trouble and called them. They saw that I lived in the projects and things changed. They tried everything to break us up introducing him to other women, sending him to tour overseas for six months, told lies but we were in love. It seemed like they were over it and we got engaged my senior year. I decided that I'd move and finish school in Florida. He got accepted to Mississippi State. He drove me to Florida and went back home to Mississippi until he moved two weeks later when his apartment was ready. He went to get his keys and move some of his stuff in. He had borrowed his brother-in-law's truck to move and he was killed in a car accident on his way to take the truck back and get his car. His family blamed me

What is so slay ?

The mother didn't ask for coffee, tho. She demanded it. Big difference. There used to be a popular phrase, "are you asking me or are you telling me"? Depending on which it is, you'll get a different response. The mother did not have the right to demand anything of someone she'd been insulting from the beginning.
