Great to see you finding what's working and inspiring for you in the Eurorack format. I know it's been a while of playing with ideas and it's really nice to see the first system that's connected with you. Excited to see how it develops and what you get out of it.

@@truecuckoo haha i enjoyed this brief exchange between two senseis 🙏
oh my god, you fixed modular for me! As someone who's been getting more and more into trackers, seeing a modular setup like this, where the sequencing is based on a tracker grid and the sounds are designed on separate modules, solves literally all the parts I don't quite get how to do on a tracker yet (having come from ableton) such as automation and effects! You've even got a percussion synth (my favorite virtual instrument is the Chromaphone 2, so i'm even more hooked on your setup) Looking forward to the next episodes!!
As a fellow fm lover this setup is awesome! Never seen the nerdseq before but it looks really interesting, perfect for nerds like me. The fact it can be expanded is great too. An in depth sequencer is something I have been hesitant to commit to, I've been patiently studying all the options to see which is the best one for me to dedicate the time to learning it. One thing I love about the Chord is it can be used as 4 independant voices, being able to customise the waves makes it so versatile.
I'm so excited to see this develop - the process and the mindset behind. Thanks as always for sharing the fun and love of music.
I was always surprised that you weren't getting into modular, but it makes sense about the precise sequencing. It really is so much about workflow. The reason I loved modular was for it's chaotic nature!
You are such a cool dude , and a very unique musician .... how i wish there were more like you , on this planet - right now ! A Big Generator - of good vibes !

Lovely walkthrough! I very much enjoy hearing your thought process in the composition of this case and the composition of your tracks. Thank you!
Loving your use of the word "plop". Keep up the good work!

Nice to see you're still into the Nerdseq. I love it. Awesome module.
1. “Cuckoo modular.” 2. I bet it has nerdseq and YM chips. 3. Sees video. I’m right. 4. Keeps watching video to make chip arps with all my synths. All we need is for SEGA to come back from the dead. Love your work.
Very cool to see the Dark Matter in here it pops with your track writing
Really cool stuff Mr. Cuckoo - enjoyed the walk-thru and look forward to seeing some more experimentation :D Slowing filling out an intellijel case myself... this is very helpful!
Love the compact setup! It’s small but powerful. I like how you’re using the Euroburo too. I just got one recently and I’m starting to dig into it.

💥 WOW 💫 GOOD LUCK dear Cuckoo ! 🙏
Modular seems to work great as a happy accident machine. It's good at making new sounds, and pretty decent as inspiration for starting songs. It doesn't usually seem to work as well for the rest of the process though, the composition and production. Perhaps because, as noted in the video, there aren't many modules designed to handle high-level tasks like composition... it's mostly low-level detail-oriented stuff. And, although accidents make happy starting points, it's hard to finish a song by accident.
This is gonna be interesting :) I love that the title says "Ep.1"

this is blowing my mind!
This was awesome, thanks.
awesome video! I like your eurorack a lot! it is a little bit too harsh sounding for my taste but i can see you doing a lot of creative stuff with it! def inspiring!
Cool to learn you started on trackers :) I started late 90s with modplug. Makes sense with the video game love, too!
Another wonderful inspirational video. I really enjoy to follow your creative process, no matter what gear you use. Thanks for your work. 🌻

Thank you so much AngMoKio! Fun story, when I was in Malaysia, there was this kid that spontaneously called me AngMoNang 😅

@@truecuckoo 😂 I spend some time in Singapore and also got called Ang Mo several times. Furthermore I lived in an area in Singapore called Ang Mo Kio. So that's how I chose that name, I am actually from Europe. Depending on the situation and context Ang Mo can also be a bit of a rude name for "western people", but well I always try to see the good in people. 😄
Interesting take on a case and very different than current trend. Fun to see. I'll look out for you outputs with it.
Real cool use of such a small space! My live rack with the Nerdseq is not so portable but ive found my equalibrium in function finally.. for now ;
Yep not doubt the Nerdseq it’s the most musical composer seq, ver 1.27c tracks 7&8 can be midi mayor update in the game thx bro
Holy Moly! I'm travelling with my Ipad mini and keys! Goodluck !!
You have a unique calming way to be, not to mention awesome content. Btw Would you consider putting up videos about modular synthesis tutorials?

Thank you Lauro! I appreciate it. I might do more modular stuff in the future, once in a while. I know there are many great modular people out there. DivKid and MylarMelodies probably my favourites.
More syntakt videos please! Would love a sound pack or more in depth creation videos on it. Love it so much.
Thanks, great video. I'd like to add nerdseq and zoia to my setup when I've saved enough pennies. I love your Eurorack vids.
Like this setup a lot! Great thoughts behind it 🍬

Nice setup, I also started on the 500 with Protracker, I did not love it though hahaha.
nice tan bro!
Love your channel brother... would not be as powerful if it wasn't for those sound fx introducing gear! Lol 👊🧡👍 Love it!
cool! the NerdSeq looks a bit like the SunVox sequencer on steroids: its even hexdec!
Another great video! I’ve been cautious about getting into modular. Could you provide any estimate on how much your setup cost? Thanks again for all your great content.

It's fascinating gear, and you explain it wonderfully as always, but I dread to think what this whole box costs. Maybe one day when I have a little more time and a lot more money I'll get some modules.

I'm surprised to see a whole eurorack system without a single filter. Was that deliberate or did you just choose what you liked and not end up with one?
@truecuckoo
2 жыл бұрын
Haha, that's a fun observation. I actually don't like filters in general, come to think of it. When designing sounds I make as little use of filters as possible. Just nudging them a little bit. With FM synthesis and Wavetable synthesis, filters aren't really needed to the same extent as with other synthesis. My favourite filter is the Makenoise QPAS, but I couldn't fit it in. It was either the QPAS or the Dark Matter, and I felt like Dark Matter could be more fun.

@@truecuckoo i really like mixing filter envelopes with fm, akemies taiko produces a straight crazy fm noise and you can filter env out the parts you dont want
