My Modular Journey - Season 3: Episode 12 (Pamela's PRO Workout) 🙋🏼‍♀️

Музыка

Note: This is not a comprehensive guide to Pamela's PRO Workout; but a look into the features I typically use with this module.
Almost immediately after purchasing my very first module: Pamela's NEW Workout, a clock and modulation source to start my Modular Journey back in July '21, I knew I would eventually want another of this amazing module in my collection. The versatility and utility goes beyond most modules I have encountered on my path through Eurorack/Modular. Sure, there are other "clock sources", much simpler means of generating clock pulses, but for me it's how much more you can get out of this 8ch modulation source that continues to blow my mind!
When it finally came time to pick up a 2nd "Pam's", Busy Circuits conveniently released the "PRO" version of this wonderful utility. By reworking some of the channel features, "Pam's 3" has proven once again - enormous things can come in small packages ❣️

⚠️ IMPORTANT ⚠️
This video series is not an endorsement or a recommendation for which modular gear YOU should try. This is only my experience and the option(s) I chose to pursue. If you blow yourself up, do not blame me.

I don't think that the 16384 divisor is so much when considering using Pam's for lfo duties. My experience so far in modular is that most lfo modules don't have the capability of running -really- slowly. The Intellijel Dixie will go pretty slow in lfo mode but I sometimes find myself wanting a really, really slow lfo ... on the order of perhaps a 10 minute (or more) cycle. A 16384 divisor at a bpm of 60 would give a staggering 273 minute lfo cycle, more than enough for most needs (mine included) but there will be someone out there who would find it useful. BTW, thanks for all of your modular journey videos. It was your review of Pam's New Workout that convinced me to get one. Now I have a Pam's New and a Pam's Pro with the Pro slave to the New. Lots of clock outputs and I'll often use almost all of them for one thing or another.

FYI, the XAOC Devices Batumi is said to have a 28h cycle. I haven't successfully tested this as I keep nodding off watching the scope 🤪

Conversely, you can clock things at audio rate by upping to x192 and cranking the BPM.

PAMs is one of the staples of modular I've still never felt the need to get... I see the immense utility of it, but feel I'm covered by my other modules, and particularly through my FH-2 and Keystep, and O_C/Zadar/Ochd modules. Can't blame anyone though, it always seems well deserved of that Maths like reverie.
