MY MK2 FIESTA HAS PICKED UP MULTIPLE FAULTS OVER WINTER!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

My Annual Classic car gathering:
share/p8WnXR...
Welcome back all,
In this weeks episode I'm back working on my first classic, the Mk2 Ford Fiesta that I have owned since I was 18. This car only really comes out in the summer now and is stored throughout the winter months. Over the past winter it seemed top pick up quite a few faults and overran the MOT due date. In this video I rectify many of those faults and get it back on the road again with a 12 months ticket!

your company has a good policy on MOTs, it stops any pressure being put on you or your mates to be "lenient" on any faults, a fresh pair of eyes is not a bad thing, remember, too much information is better than not enough, especially regarding the tinworm... your tappets are a little noisy, reset them the day after a good run out, so that they have settled back in after standing 6 months your fiesta was the "new shape" when i was a lad, i made good bonus servicing them, no bloody points + condenser to do like on the mk1s.... + wetbelts hadn't been invented yet... PS i think it's a nylon washer on the sump keep it up young man

Back in the day , I owned one of these and the only fault that occurred was a wire coming of the starter motor . I sold it to the mother in law then it got nicked never to be seen again

I drove a '86 Mk2 Fiesta 1.1 Ghia for 6 years as my daily. It was 6 years old when I got it, but by the time I sold it, it'd had lots of welding. The girl I sold it to wrote it off three weeks later. Had a '91 Sierra 2.0 twink. It dissolved. Had a '91 Mk3 Granda Cosworth hatch. It dissolved. Bought a 1980 Mk2 Escort RS2000 as a track day toy in 2002. Six months after buying it I discovered it was rotten as a week old pear. At the time, uneconomical to repair, without a replacement shell, which I couldn't find. Still got a 1988 Mustang 5.0GT I bought in 2004. Never been welded. Needs a 5p size hole in the right footwell patched, otherwise sound. Would suggest that the Yanks used much better quality steel to build their bodyshells from. Ford Europe had an unwritten internal rule that they didn't want cars to last more than ten years, otherwise nobody would buy new ones. Might explain why the Sierra & Granada had large holes stamped into the inner sills, just in front of the rear axle, to collect muck and grit and salty water, to make the sills and rear arches rust out. I'll never buy a European Ford again.

Absolutely love mk1 /mk2 fiestas.. back in early 2000s had a 1.0 mk2 fiesta popular + and left it original.. after that bought a mk1 fiesta xr2 and in black ended up selling it to buy a mk2 fiesta xr2 in black left that original.. had few months. Sold it bought a red xr2 that was highly modified.. had few years.. sold it and bought a blue mk2 xr2 standard ended up highly modifying that. Absolutely love the mk2 fiesta and if had known they’d of fetched good money years on think I’d of stored these

Well done Mitch mate and glad to watch another great video.. I’ve been a massive fan of XR2 Fiestas and owned over 16 of them but unfortunately I sold them years ago when prices were so low.. big regret now .. I’ve always owned Fords .. had 13 cortina’s and they were mrk 3s .. had 3 XR3s and had several Sierra sapphires .. now I’m just a carer driving a Vauxhall zafira 1.7 diesel.. just not the same as the old days .. I did have a Mercedes 190e 2ltr automatic that was 24 years old and only covered 48 thousand miles but had to sell it 6 years ago because of my own health issues.. I regret selling them all .. I even had 5 ford escort vans and one though I had a one door piece on the rear which you hardly see any more unfortunately.. anyway keep your content coming because it so inspiring and it’s lovely to see your progress.. looking forward to seeing more of the VW van and your Escort car and the Fiesta but keep the escort van going 👍👍 cheers fella 👍👍

IMO ..The MK 2 Ford Fiesta was the best Fiesta that Ford ever made ..Had the pleasure of owning one in the very early 1990s. A912JVT was the reg number. It had a powerful 957 cc engine that produced a whopping 45 BHP. It had the upgrade of electronic ignition so no points to change like on the MK 1 Ford Fiesta Classic cars do NOT like to be "Stood" ..... Fetch it out of the garage and "move" the car ..even if you only drive it around the block for 10 minutes once a month... and run it up to temperature so the fan cuts in..If it rests...IT RUSTS! Classic cars really do not like to be just "Stood" EDIT... I was been nosey so I had a look at the MOT test on your car...I see on the MOT it has a slight oil leak (But not excessive) Have you any idea where the oil is leaking from and is it an easy fix? If it is cheap to fix it might be worth fixing..If you ignore small problems on classic cars (Or on ANY car for that matter) They soon turn it into big expensive problems. I always like to keep "On top" of the repairs on my car. For example... The starter motor on my Toyota Celica is just starting to fail... It fails to start the car (But just intermittently) Every 20 or so turns I just get a "Click" and it is starting to get worse. If I turn a blind eye to it..It will fail totally. Found one on eBay for £60 and my local garage will fit it for £30... Getting fitted next Thursday. One less thing to worry about. Keeping on top of small repairs is paramount... I would investigate the oil leak on your lovely MK 2 Ford Fiesta and if it can be fixed cheaply... Fix it. She is worth it. Ignore it and it will get worse. Thank you for this video. Double edit..... The surface rust on the sills needs to be addressed also ... Please believe me rust spreads like cancer on a classic car.

The tappits are clattering mate get an old set of feelers and set them running an old guy showed me this trick so if its 25 thou put fellers in when running if it feels slack turn off nip it down a bit and try again and always work to the rule of 9 if 8s down adjust 1 etc keep your vids coming my type of engines
