Discord is the most powerful creature in Equestria, that's why he is important. His nature is being discord ish, but at least he try to be good. Specially for Fluttershy

Discord desired companionship just as much he wanted power and freedom to use his magic and be himself. That want for fellowship is how Fluttershy was able to reform him and how Terrik was able to trick him. Discord is very smart but his emotions and ego often get the best of him and this was the biggest example of that. He had to learn the true meaning of friendship the hard way to really appreciate it. He still has a lot to learn but he's getting there gradually. As Fluttershy put it, "Baby steps everypony. Baby steps."

Discord didnt expect Tirek to betray him quite like that, but he still had a backup plan, just in case. He withheld information from tirek, and gave the mane six five of the six keys. So he has the option to side with either team.

proclarushtaonasat - That's a trickster for you. They're never really villians or really the good guys. They play both sides both for their own amusement and sometimes even for those they care about. Discord just took it too far and looking back with season 6 knowledge it affected his character greatly. Think about it.

HopeCvon also, IF Discord was on the ponies side the whole time, putting the rest of the mane six, including fluttershy, in a cage, instead of having them run around trying to save twilight later, is actually a smart way of keeping them out of trouble. Donald duck from the new ducktales did something similiar.

Discord is still sneaky but he's incredibly reformed now, trust me

Nah, he was totally fooled by Tirek, I'm honestly glad that he betrayed them though. I don't think "Keep Calm and Flutter On" did his reformation justice, this was truly Discord's reformation completed. I think friendship is what made him soft and that's why he was fooled so easily, it made him too trusting. Plus, if friendship didn't mean a thing to him beforehand, I doubt he would've bookmarked those pages in the journal. He was intentionally helping at one point, he's mischievous and goofy about it but he does mean well. While Discord pulled a dick move, he admitted his wrong doing and gave Twilight her key, Twi set a good example for him when freeing him despite what he did, (he betrayed them but she didn't betray him) and Discord became genuine. If it wasn't genuine, it wouldn't have been a key, Discord is still learning though.

I think they wrote "Keep Calm and Flutter On" with the full intent of giving him this arc, actually - within the confines of the show they needed to keep to a single episode AND give a positive moral/ending, but they also knew that his reformation would have felt half-baked. So they used the next two-parter to emphasise that while he's reformed nominally to keep Fluttershy's friendship, he's still a troll and has a LONG way to go; "Three's a Crowd" shows this very well, and "Twilight's Kingdom" has him learn to truly appreciate friendship. Even better of course is that he STILL learns, slowly, over the course of the show.

Look at it this way Smurf, if he wasn't affected by their friendship at all, then he wouldn't have betrayed them. He would have recognized Tirek was trying to trick him. He became more trusting because of their friendship

Nearly every Discord episode (with only a few exceptions), serves a bigger purpose, even if they dont look like it on the first glance. His reformation put the elements in the library for the season 3 finale. Three is a crowd, was a tutorial for the key episodes of this season, and foreshadowed him being the one to give twilight her key. He might seem completely random most of the time, but theres always a method to his madness. He is an expert marksman with chekhovs gun.

Don't worry. Discord's actually reformed and he's the Mane 6's friends now. He's very endearing towards Fluttershy now as well. It's actually kind of sweet imo.

If you think from a character development aspect though, this was a GENIUS arc for Discord. ; A ; Everyone THOUGHT that Discord would have some big plan in place cause he always has, and even he himself believed that he couldn't be outsmarted - but the fact that someone beat him down and caught him off guard and legit hurt him was something he'd never experienced like that. And it took that to shake him enough to realize how important the ponies' friendship was and truly changed him. MAH HEART. 😭

Honestly, discord is really kind on the inside. He's misunderstood at best. Try and give him a chance. He's caught in between his instincts and his love for chaos.

Discord's true plans and motives have been a subject of debate among the fandom. As with many trickster characters you can never be quite sure where he stands. Personally, I think that his appearances up to this point have constituted a reformation arc. In "Keep Calm and Flutter On" he discovered that having a friend was important, so he was willing to try changing his ways in order to keep Fluttershy as his friend, but he still wasn't really sold on the idea. During his next few appearances he was somewhat caught between his desire for friendship and his desire to be able to do whatever he wanted. When Tirek offered his partnership Discord saw it as a way to have it all. He thought he could have Tirek for a friend as well as being freed from the restrictions and compromises that Fluttershy insisted on. That was why he temporarily slipped back into the role of a villain. However, once Tirek betrayed him and Fluttershy and Twilight were still there for him he realized what true friendship was. Now he has more of a true bond with them.

24:41 Why would Twilight say that? The only one to be a friend to Discord was Fluttershy. The rest of the main 6 seemed to hate their life when he shows up and doesn't even try to be friendly back. Discord is the spirit of chaos and disharmony so of course he would choose freedom instead of friendship when all his friends except for Fluttershy hate/dislike him.

I'd say Discord when he was a villain, wouldn't have been tricked by Tirek. The whole 'Accepting Friendship' thing taught him that others might have his best interest at heart, and his original 'Reformation' was pretty much at figurative gunpoint. 'Be nice or we'll turn you into stone' doesn't leave a guy with many options, comparing that to a 'friend' that doesn't stifle or restrict you from doing what you love and it makes sense. Discord was even skeptical at first and didn't initially tell him about Twilight or where the Alicorn magic went in case it was a double cross. But that sappy fake friendship token that wouldn't have worked on evil Discord, swayed 'Reformed' Discord. Discord has never been fooled by fake friendship before.

Remember Smurf this IS still the early character development stage for Discord he was still learning friendship back here. But episodes like this for a character is usually for the best determination how they will be in future.

Since Discord was showing off the 'Key' passages in the friendship journal at the beginning, I think he understood how the keys were made and found. It's not confirmed by this episode, but I think what happened is that everything he's done has been an act in order to get Twilight that key, which held the true power to defeat Tirek once and for all. That's my theory, anyway. Discord always talks like he's got some master plan :P

i agree. i personally believe that this was all a ploy by discord and celestia. celestia's "plan" just falls apart if this wasnt all devised by her and discord. with this logic, that would mean discord took a bullet by pretending to have betrayed equestria to help twilight and co. out.

I think he really joined Tirek but at the same way knew the chest could defeat him if nessecary. He just didn't expect Tirek to betray him.

I think he knew he had to join Tirek in order to open the chest, but I think he began to believe Tirek after the fight of Shining Armor so he didn't see the betrayal coming.

One of the main reasons that Discord is a major fan favorite besides being voiced by John de Lancie, is that he never really changes being who he is (a mischievous troublemaker) despite gaining that influence of friendship like we'll witness for future villainous characters.

The reason we like this show cause it really has nice trees.

Discord at this point in time was not truly in tune with the whole friendship thing, he realized he liked it but didn’t really understand it’s worth. He’s an old god of chaos, he spent a large amount of time in stone and presumably a large amount of time free to do as he pleased. When Tirek manipulated him, he was trying to convince him he’d be free again, but Discord had indeed been changed by friendship and allowed himself to trust Tirek when he normally wouldn’t, the nail in the coffin was when Tirek didn’t turn on him and Discord told him about Twi. When Tirek gave him the amulet, the coffin was buried 6ft deep, and Discord allowed himself to believe it was friendship. (And yeah I know I’m responding to a 4 year old video, but I only just found your channel and I’ve been bingeing your vids starting with mlp)

I mean, the Mane Six really should have known better than to treat Discord like an enemy instead of a friend after showing him that friendship really means something to him. With friends like these, I wouldn't have been loyal, too.

I think the thing about Discord is that he had to feel the loss of what he had before he truly realized its value. That's what it finally took to reform him all the way.

I think Discord did betray them, but it didn't really turn out the way he expected. He is basically a reformed criminal after all, him not relapsing once or twice is unrealistic. People like him usually have to learn the hard way anyway. And so far this is the last time he does anything like this.

Sure, I suppose it was disappointing that Discord betrayed them, but in the end he finally, truly, honestly learned his lesson and discovered why he needed friendship. It takes time for someone to be completely reformed. By the end of this finale Discord is truly reformed.

Discord is like Judas, he had to betray them so they could fulfill their destiny... awesome react man luv it. XD

Hey Smurf, allow me to provide an explanation for Discord's betrayal. Discord and the ponies did not have a good friendship. The only real friend he had was Fluttershy, everyone else didn't treat him that great. Whenever he came around they always treated him as an adversary and a nuisance, and as such, he didn't feel invested in their friendship. When Tirek came along, Discord thought that he was offering him true freedom as well as friendship. Yes, he did betray them, and it was not part of any grand master plan. However, the true regret he felt after he was betrayed makes him likable to fans like me. And don't worry, he does get better as the series progresses, trust me. He may seem annoying at times, but he does improve.

In fact discord himself say he doubted they was good friends in that three a crowd episode of him pretending to be sick.

Unfortunately this scenario sets up one of the reasons why Twilight is one of my least favorite characters in the show now, but that is heading into spoiler territory, so I won't mention it here until Smurf gets to a particular episode.

Spike's anthem was completely improvised by his voice actor.

Well, I like to think Discord was playing Tirek the whole time because as you saw, he knew exactly what all the keys were. But I also understand him betraying the mane 6, despite his reformation, all the mane 6 aside from Fluttershy kinda treated him like trash.

Yeah - the reason Fluttershy's friendship with him IS genuine, and was able to turn him at all is because she gave him a chance; everypony else was eager to jump at finding a reforming spell or just outright trapping him as stone again. But when Fluttershy says that despite his behaviour at the dinner party, they are friends, he's truly touched... because nobody has ever put up with him long enough to try despite that. From there, he realises he can't just give it up when he pushes her too far, as now that he has experienced friendship he doesn't want to lose it - so even when the Elements are returned to the Tree of Harmony, he's reminded to not push his boundaries by Fluttershy if he doesn't want to lose her friendship. And look... you can't blame the other 5 for not trusting him, but here's the thing: why should he care about how THEY feel about it? While Fluttershy tries really hard with him, the others don't even make an effort to understand him or tolerate his company; yes, it's hard, but nobody said it would be easy like they wanted it to be. People like Discord aren't necessarily evil at their core - at worse he was, as Smurf put it, incredibly childish, which is very telling; if you were born with Discord's powers and could do whatever at a young age, would YOU easily grow up as an adjusted and mature individual? Fluttershy's friendship matters because he's being taught empathy, and how life isn't just about taking and doing what you want when you want; living in harmony with others is about being able to be selfless, and this is his arc throughout the series as a whole. This however is the true trial for Discord - when Tirek tempts him, freedom vs. friendship, he weighs it before betraying them; however, he's not fully on board as shown when Shining Armor's "et tu, brute?" moment affects him, and when Fluttershy is drained along with the others he can't even look despite trying to brush it off. But he wants that friendship so when Tirek claims they are partners and gives him "proof", he thinks he can have it all: the freedom to do as he wishes but also friendship... and then he loses it all. It's in this darkest moment that he's exposed for what he is - a lonely creature who didn't know he was lonely until recently, and who is too pitiful for even the other 4 members of the Mane Six to be angry when he's subsequently been backstabbed. When their lives are bartered for all the Alicorn magic in Equestria, Discord has given up and is shocked when Twilight still insists on saving him; this gives both him AND her a better understanding of friendship, specifically of that forgiveness angle (which Fluttershy already knew). Phew... didn't mean to write a mini-essay, sorry.

I know you don't like Discord but just trust us on this one,after this finale he becomes good for the rest of the series.I think Discord is one of the smart-troll-like friends,one that tricks you but it does help you in the long run.He's gonna start to really become great friends with Fluttershy and tart to care about her,maybe it will show you the good side of him.

If you look at it, discord sacrificed himself to give the last object to twilight

So I saw it like this: Discord, a being of chaos who was still newly reformed, and really only had one friend, was manipulated into Tirek's promise that he could basically do whatever he wanted now by calling friendship a new form of imprisonment. In other words, he was letting him know that since he had friends that didn't really like him bending the universe around him, he was being limited in his powers. Tirek was trying to get him on his side so that he could gain more powers. Discord was promised by Tirek that he was going to gain anything he wanted to get by relinquishing his friendships and going back to his old ways. So Discord, not thinking friendships were that important, took Tirek's advice and helped him grow stronger. Tirek, of course, held up a facade and was planning on betraying Discord since he too had magic that he could consume. It was the only way Tirek could keep Discord off his back while he gained enough strength so he could steal his magic. Also, if Discord didn't fall for Tirek's crap, this would have been a really quick episode.

The Clousdale anthem was totally improvised by Cathy Weseluck, that makes it more impressive in my opinion

Ok I've noticed your hate from Discord stems from misconceptions about his character. Discord doesn't know how to be friends. He lived alone for THOUSANDS of years with chaos as his only outlet. He has spent far more time secluded with only chaos and magic to keep him company. Once Fluttershy taught him how great it was to have a friend, he decided to give it a try. But Discord was going against the nature of discord it'self. Discord means disharmony, chaos, and conflict. The only way he knew how to communicate with ponies was by posing conflicts that would lead them towards the right path. He communicated his friendship through disruption and disharmony, because that's all he knew. That's how he expresses himself. Smurf, when Tirek gave Discord the option to have the freedom to do what he wanted AND friendship, Discord saw this as Tirek being the better friend for letting him do whatever he wanted. Discord was naive because he had no idea what real friendship was. Not until he lost everything did he realize how stupid he was. Honestly everyone in the fandom likes discord because he is an agent of chaos and disharmony taking steps to change and become harmonious, while never forgetting that his character IS Discord. That and he's based on and played by Q from Star Trek. Also everyone saw that betrayal coming. :/ So none of us were really all that angry about it. We expected something would happen that would reform him completely.

It kind of makes sense for Discord to still be evil at this point. After all he used to be a super villain. You don't just learn one thing in one episode (Keep Calm and Flutter On) and just expect him to change his entire being that quickly, and the writers know this, having him betray everyone makes perfect sense, and the fact that he was still very much trollish this season shows that his evil ways were still present in all regards. ps Discord becomes more and more "reformed" as the show goes on, so Im assuming their is a little bit of character development in there somewhere...

As much as I could understand you being ticked at Discord joining Tirek's side, really think about this for a second. Since his reformation, the only one who actually treated him with kindness and like a friend was Fluttershy. Whenever he showed up, everypony else always distrusted him, ostracised him and gave him the stink-eye. And they always threatened to turn him back to stone if he didn't behave the way THEY wanted him to. So in a way, he HADN'T experienced true friendship. So he thought joining forces with Tirek would truly earn him a friend and give him the freedom to be himself again. Don't act like the Mane Six are completely blameless.

Now freedom was limited to discord because of the mane 6, he felt being trapped, now that he is genuine the mane 6 gave him more room to be himself

Discord plays both sides of the table. He's a chessmaster, or likes to think he is. If you notice, he gave himself an out by figuring out the box and giving Twilight the bookmarked journal. So even if things went south with Tirek ("curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal" trope in full force) he still ensured the survival of the ponies. Also he always looked away when Tirek absorbed magic. So there was a pang of guilt. Next up is what I believe to be the best season premiere ever. Enjoy.

The interesting thing was that if Discord had not betrayed them, Twilight would not have gotten her key. So in a sense, Discord betraying his friends and learning a lesson about friendship was pivotal to the eventual outcome. Still love to hate Discord, though.

Discord definitively betrayed the ponies. He was seduced by Tirek offering what he thought to be something better. The reason for people liking him (or disliking, in some cases) depends on one's ability to forgive what he had done. Discord showed genuine attrition for actions at the end of this episode. Some people choose to forgive, others didn't. Neither of these choices are wrong or right. What does happen, moving forward, is that Discord's loyalties do lie with the ponies.

Maybe it helps if you think of it like Rarity. Rarity sometimes struggles between her desires and generosity. Discord struggles between his desire for chaos and his desire for friendship. As for him trusting Tirek, I have no excuses, except sometimes we trust people that we really shouldn't. And to be fair, he did wait until he got confirmation that he could trust him (even if that confirmation was fake). But yeah, I'm not a huge Discord fan. But I can tolerate him just fine, and appreciate the occasional funnies.

To be honest he heard Celestia say she was leaving the elements with them because they still didn't trust him. So they had it coming.

It's sad to see you and half of the mlp fandom hate discord. He's trying his best even if he doesn't do it right. He had a theory that could have been helpful but the mane 5, not Fluttershy, hate nor show a bit of respect & grateful that he's a friend to them until this season of course they see him more of a friend than before

If you re-watch it again and really and carefully analyze every dialogue of Discord then you'll understand that: Discord really did betray Twilight and her friends. BUT! - the only saving grace was that it was an epic Discord dialogue for he truly did REGRET his action. It's a great reformation lesson to be learned for a villain like Discord that's why I believed he is truly reformed now. One of my favorite part in this episode is re-watching how Fluttershy was hurt by him and how he was hurt back in return... one of the Best Drama in all of the MLP history!

Smurfvlogs remember that discord is just getting use to friendship. He has bein reformed but that doesn't mean he knows all about friendship.

This is the end of Discord's redemption Arc and he is good now but he is still pretty chaotic.

Discord did truly believe it. It's because he so surely wanted to do whatever he wants while he had friendship. He said it himself when he was first reformed, when you have friends, you can't always have his way. Tirek offered him to go unchecked while having a friend and that blinded him because he wanted that so badly. And as the seasons go by, you will see why he has such a big fan-base. I hope you'll grow to like him and find him entertaining but I also understand if you dont. Love your reactions!

It's my headcanon that during their first meeting, Discord saw the key around Tirek's neck, worked out that it was the key, and then devised an elaborate ruse that also served as a test for Fluttershy and Twilight. He'd pretend to be on Tirek's side until he got the key (Keeping Twilight's existence a secret until then because he didn't know how long that would take), immediately trigger a betrayal, and then all he had to do then was to see if Twilight or Fluttershy would argue for his release. If they didn't, screw them and screw Equestria. If they did, they are who he thought they were. It would certainly tie in with his schemes from the S4 and S9 openers.

The point of her key was to forgive a friend who had betrayed her. Forgiving such a betrayal was the hardest thing of all to do.

Sylasha imo her point was teaching someone the true value of friendship.

Discord less of betrayed them and was more tricked, he believed that there was truely nothing better than frirndship, and friendship made him more trusting. The concept that there could be something better intrigued him since he thought that there could never be such a thing

I like to think that it was discords master plan. How else would Twilight have gotten her key?

I just want to say without Discord betraying them Twilight would never have got a key and Discord did keep Tirek in the dark about Twilight until he got the assurance he needed from Tirek and it assured his defeat

My theory is that a small part of Discord new he might screw up and so he'd decided to give the girls a little hint of how the chest would open.

I feel like it was all his plan. He's does stuff like this on purpose to teach a lesson to Twilight or help out with a problem. He's the spirit of chaos. I don't expect him to come out and say it was all planned. He wanted to see what chaos our new villain would bring; Discord knows what he's doing.

Discord is smart but he gets trick easily! He thought that there was something better than friendship but there wasn't and felt sorry. Couldn't you give him another chance? for us? (he's one of the brony favorites)

I know you dislike Discord but myself and others can assure you that Discord will be better in the future seasons. He is fully reformed this time after this but he will still be his little mischievous self as always but that's Discord for ya. Looking forward to your future reactions for the next season!

There was clearly SOME good in Discord all along. Every time they showed him and mentioned the mane six he would get this sad/guilty look on his face and fudge the truth/lie a bit. I agree with what others are saying, the Mane Six's friendship made him soft and that's why he was fooled. I think that's why he sold them out fully when Tirek saw Twilight's window, at that point he truly believed Tirek was his companion now. I feel like Discord wanted friends all along but just didn't realize it until he himself was betrayed. Edit: And as someone else said, the mane six weren't exactly the nicest friends to him. The only one who was really nice and gave him a chance was Fluttershy, and even then he hasn't known her for very long and was only just recently reformed.

Wait til season 5...you will meet someone new who makes discord betrayal not so worrisome. Lol

I'm sorry dude. I don't love discord but I have a strong respect for characters who feel remorse.

i am personally in the camp that believes this was all planned by discord and celestia. as you said, discord would have just told tirek about twilight right away after the magic transfer otherwise. thus, celestia knew they could transfer the magic without fear because it was all part of the plan. she would have no other reason to believe that tirek would immediately learn of twilight. he totally just took the bullet is is letting everyone else THINK he relapsed and actually joined tirek.

Smurf, I think you need to go to Discords poijt of view. Twilight and the mane 5 (other than flutter shy) didnt really show him good friendship. I wouldn't blame him for asking for a better friendship. Because twilight and the mane 5 didnt really show the friendship to Discord meaning he doesn't know the real mean in.

SmurfVlogs™ yes I can see where you are getting at. But during the process of friendship, everybody makes mistakes and learning about forgiveness is part of it. And besides, without Discords betrayal Twilight would have never gotten her item.

discord DID betray them, he could have stopped Tirek from the begining... I think he has good character growth later on though.

I've never seen someone watch so many seasons of mlp so quickly before

ThatLonelyUnicorn You gotta watch ‘em all in order to understand the MLP movie coming out in October. Not because of context/spoilers, but because you have to know what kind of a world you’re getting into... That it can be TRULY entertaining for all ages.

now i believe discord perfectly planned this and his definitely a great actor. his like the wisest guy in the show

Don't worry Smurf, discord in this finale think of him as innocent minded, Tirek managed to manipulate Discord into thinking friendship isn't as amazing as having your own freedom, discord sadly didn't realize that even though he has friends he still has his freedom. So yes he did get fooled but without that happening Twilight never would have opened the chest and Tirek would have gone back to his prison, if that would have happened Twlight never would have learnt her purpose as a princess in Equestria. Don't take discord too harshly he's a good character when you learnt to accept what he does benefits to the mane six. ^^

Congratulations smurf! You've made it up to Season 4. It's really exciting to see these reactions because this show is so damn good. This finale was one of the best in the show. It was perfect! It had: * Princesses song that was one of my fav songs EVER! * Destructive villain who was introduced even in earlier episodes (Castle Mania, and It's about time) * Bitching eye candy battle * Season 4 key theme is wrapped up. * MUCH NEEDED Development for Discord with a villain team up (He DID betray them sadly. But TBH he never was truly tested as a character in this show up to this point. I don't consider him this super genius. He is prone to influence like any other real character is like. He was the character Twilight helped grow to get her key like everyone else.) But above all else, what I take from it is that the finale signifies that the show is growing up and maturing as the seasons go. The iconic example is Twilight losing her treehouse. It's symbolic cause she "can't ever go back home" she has to move on now and grow up and be the Princess of Friendship. The treehouse is gone forever. Now with Season 5, we see the show take a new direction with the new Princess of Friendship and new responsibilities. Season 5 has VERY VERY good single episodes and has episodes that focus on characters you'd never expect to see. Oh yeah, the villain is even better and more insane. Tirek was nothing. LOL! Here's my list, which focus on plot episodes and Fluttershy. LOL! So much of them are good! Episode 1 and 2: AMAZING VILLAIN! Episode 3: This one should be seen too cause of plot importance and the transition into S5. Episode 5: Rainbow Dash character development. FEELS! Episode 7: Fluttershy episode (But with Discord too. Be warned) Episode 8: Plot theme episode Episode 9: Episode 100 Special Episode 12: Beautiful episode. FEELS! Episode 13: Princess Luna Episode Episode 16: Plot theme episode Episode 17: Big Mac episode. (Eeeyup) Episode 18: HUGE Character development episode and this one NEEDS to be watched! I would say make this a solo video. Episode 19: Plot significance and just funny as hell episode! Episode 20: Maud. Enough said. Episode 21: Fluttershy episode Episode 23: Plot theme episode. Also Fluttershy. Episode 24: Another beautiful episode. FEELS!!! Plus songs! Episode 25 and 26: REPEAT. AMAZING VILLAIN!!!

AniRichie IMO episode 14 and 15 are amazing episodes that should be included, the former has a very good moral and very good characterization while the latter is very entertaining, has two characters finally star again together in the same episode after season 1 and has a different presentation style - it's hard to choose because season 5 overall is very solidXD

I do think he betrayed them, but he knew it has to be done so that Twilight would grow and find her purpose.

I HAVE heard that allying himself with Tirek was part of Discord's plan so that he could genuinely give Twilight her key. No saying for sure but it's a pretty huge coincidence that he did everything he did and in doing so got all SIX keys ready for them.

Discord was deceived because he was also manipulated. He was not only offered the freedom to use his magic and reek havoc, he was also offered loyalty, which was later revealed to be false. And besides, if it weren't for his betrayal, he wouldn't have been able to give Twilight what Terrik gave him for her key. Maybe he IS smarter than he's letting on. It DID take him a while to admit what he did with the seeds in a previous episode, right?

Why does everyone talk season 7 up so much? It's had some good episodes, sure, but it's by no means the best season so far. :/

Personally, I think season 5 is the low point, and season 6 is the best... There is not one episode in season 6 I can consider to be "bad". Not even some of the more universally hated episodes from it. I was genuinely fooled by the supposed "obvious plot twist" in that infamous episode (you know the one), because Pinkie's performance was just so believable. And I still consider that to be the weakest episode of the season.
