Thanks for sharing your story. I got diagnosed with AML about 6 months ago and was in hospital most of that time. I’m now home in “recovery/remission” but it’s still hard. It was really good to listen to someone else who has been through this so thank you

Hi Nina hopefully you are doing good. Is there any possible by which I can get in touch with you. My sister is also suffering from AML. It would be really great if I could get your prespective and the protocol that you went through 🙏

Yes! The Bone Marrow Biopsy is like TORTURE!! I have had many, but on one I couldn’t have ANY type of pain meds, because I had liver failure from the chemo. This was the worst pain I’ve ever felt. I’m sorry you had to go through that, but it’s comforting to hear others stories.

I am an AML patient, with the MECOM mutation, and I've had 11 of those biopsies. Of the 11, two were quite painful, 3 were a little painful (about like getting a tooth drilled at the dentist), 3 I felt a little bit, and 3 I didn't really feel at all. So, maybe she is hypersensitive to pain or was just really unlucky with her first one.

I got it a kid and got sedated (I was lucky to at least be sedated...) But to this day I'm TERRIFIED of 1. Needles and 2. Small spaces and so just imagining getting one awake makes me legit shake

You aren’t doing blood cancer patients a good thing by the way you talk about bone marrow biopsies. I had them twice and it as a really weird feeling but not a terribly painful feeling. But maybe I’ve experienced a lot of pan in my life. The key to dealing with pain is you know why the pain is there and feeling it ‘s under control.

LMAO ibuprofen would not touch the pain of a bone marrow biopsy... you're kidding right? I had a BMB and it does hurt like hell. The fact that all people aren't anesthetized for it is downright medieval. Mine lasted for about a minute which doesn't sound like a long time but when you're in extreme pain it's a very long time.

@@shereehardin5783 I'm sorry. I didn't say it to scare you. I am on a message board for blood cancers and if it helps you any there are quite a few patients that report the pain is not that bad. I think part of it has to deal with your pain tolerance and the other part is the skill of your doctor. My doctor had to dig around. Hopefully you will never need a BMB.

I've heard they are really painful so I was wondering if any sort of pill could help out. The second part I wrote was me joking around because of what you said about ibuprofen lol. I hope I never have this. I assume you are ok? Right now I'm getting colon-like tests more than bone ones.

@@shereehardin5783 I'm doing ok. My cancer is a chronic one so I've had it forever. It's not as serious as AML. Although it can turn into AML one day. I can't imagine any pill that would help the pain. I hope you are doing ok with your tests.
