I had an Egyptian supervisor in Los Angeles, and she felt I was too low level as a Black person to work in the office. She had her law degree, and I had worked there successfully for almost 15 years, but she worked very hard behind my back with management for 2 years to get rid of me, and she was successful after those 2 years. She had only worked there for only about 3 years herself! But she made it her mission! I believe what everybody is saying 😢.

I find that some of the men in Turkiye are just as disrespectful. A guy "accidentally" touched my breast multiple times and finally I got fed up with him assaulting me. So I punched at his 'U Know What', he then apologized with a smirk on his face. He wasn't sorry or sincere. He just didn't expect me to stand up for myself.

Cairo is a lot for the senses. the people at the hotel very nice but it can be a completely different world. The people of Aswan - the vendors, had so much more chill - I found that city to be the easiest. Although I had one vendor changing the price and making a scene all other vendors were scores more chill than Cairo and Temple at Kumoumbo- which I found to be a straight up nightmare- I ran and literally to avoid vendors and one ran after me - a completely ridiculous sight - I didn't stop until I got to our boat.

Wow.. that was a lot. There was a guy on YT who shared a similar story I wish I could remember his name but he had issues in Cairo as well. You described it the same way where it felt like the city was draining your energy. The constant up charge of fees and unfortunately there was a robbery attempt during his stay as well. I’m glad you were safe, and being by yourself is no excuse for this level of craziness

I traveled with a group to Egypt almost 20 years ago so I can say there’s safety in numbers. One day, while on a tour of a papyrus store, I was checking out the artwork and a salesman tried to kiss me. He got angry when I refused his advances. Another time, I got sick from food poisoning and needed some fresh air by the sea in Alexandria. The group asked a policeman to take care of me while they went for lunch. He was polite but when some of his coworkers stopped by, they made me feel very uncomfortable with their leering. We were advised to dress appropriately with long loose clothing and scarves but the fact we are black women doesn’t help much! The only reason I want to return to Egypt is to finish seeing everything in the large museum in Cairo as there wasn’t enough time. I do a lot of solo traveling but Maryanne, your recent experience in Egypt has made me think twice! Hopefully, I can return in a group again. Enjoy the rest of your travels safely. I admire your courage as a young woman doing what makes you happy as you are an inspiration to others!❤😊

@@Snowfox23 🙄SUDAN, ETHIOPIA AND "LOWER" EGYPT ARE ALL PART OF ANCIENT KHEMIT/KUSH. All were ONE EMPIRE, ORIGINALLY. But, I'm sure you need fair-skinned officials to "validate" history....for you to "trust" the information 😐 (and not "ignorant, Black Americans"😐). So, many European scientists discovered VIA SATELLITE Nubian pyramids which pre-date Giza. The pyramids are buried under tons of sand. FURTHERMORE, 10,000+ years ago, Nubians migrated from ancient Kush to Saudi Arabia. Their artifacts were discovered, 16 years ago. But, you can continue to assume INVADERS are the "original" Egyptians.🙄
