I tried this a couple of leagues ago when I saw you publish this build as I thought no way this build works as a league starter. Well I ate my words as it 100% does and is so fun to play. Definitely recommend. Great innovative build

Feels like a good time if any to say this; I got recommended the 3.19 video when it came out, almost brushed it off as I didn't know the channel or the skill for that matter but it truly was an experience. I finished leveling in about 5hrs on league start with shit gear and I had forgotten to do labs at all! Somehow it still worked and it was a great deal of fun, gave me a love for orb skills in general too. I keep coming back to this build, absolutely addicted, it combines a bunch of my favorites: cold skills / shatters, orbs, power charge stacking and carcass jack. Pretty glad I gave it a chance, I love the build and I like your content, thumbs up! P.S my snack's Jack Link's.

Thank you for this build, I wasn't going to play this league unless this build was viable. I played it two leagues ago and it was one of the best builds I've ever played. It's so satisfying to explode the whole map. Smooth leveling, smooth mapping, end game was fantastic (I think I got it up to 20+ million damage before with minimal investment). Dont tempt me ! I played your hydrosphere build 2-3 league ago and it was so much fun ! It was so OP i was playing with no defense since everything freeze and hydrosphere is so fast nothing could attack me before i could. i wasnt even cap res even and had no problem dying rarely even in big maps. I miss it but i already have plans :P GL HF and thanks for the good builds video you make :)

Absolutely interested. Wanna try out something new. This has been a lot of work already but I'm further interested in crafting and which stats to aim for early and later too. Looks great (on paper, Palsteron would say😁)!

The giant bowling ball. I've never taken hydrosphere far but there's something super satisfying about watching it fly around the screen killing stuff.

Thanks for the build. Started with it and decided to go full AoE mode. It gets a little hard on the eyes but the fullscreen Herald of Ice explosions are quite satisfying :) I also love a lot how you can easily customize this build. If you want more damage or defense or AoE you can very easily switch stuff out to change the build

I recently made a build that was the whole phys to cold conversion occultist but used hydrosphere for mapping and reap for single target and was looking for any fun occultist league start for a private league I'm joining. Thanks a ton for this! Excited to see what it can do

Thoughts on the new Chill/Freeze (Glacial Cage) cluster for Hydrosphere? 10% inc dmg taken from chill and another 50% from freeze seems quite good before you go into expensive cluster jewels, doesn't it?

The chill isn’t worth it but the 50% damage taken from freeze is!

Was looking for alternate ways to trigger the hydrosphere after testing and realising HoI with ele prolif and 100% freeze was not triggering the pulse, vortex did however, but playing on controller its not the same as having it on left click automated. was also theorycrafting all day trying to make this work on a Scion, raider(speeeed)/elementalist(exposure&golems)

Hey mate, Your POB states LMP for creeping frost, but in your leaguestart practice you mention Volley. Volley is the correct one, it makes Creeping Frost shotgun. I would love to take this build into Delve. The hydrosphere mechanic is super nice for the long straight corridors of Delve. I do need a ton of defense though for Delve. Looking forward to your endgame setup pob.

That build looks great :o little question. I hate when a build struggle a lot on bosses, I feel like this build clearly wont be a boss killer but is it better than average or below average in term of bossing ?

It’s hard to answer a question with vague words like “average” but I killed the story eater and exarch on ssf gear in around 13 hours and I’m a trash player. It’s not a “boss killer” but has strong single target with small investment.

I know its not the league start anymore, but I'm always looking for fun builds. I'll give it a go

During campaign I have a hard time with my mana. Any quick-fix-tips? Currently (lvl 41) I am playing without Herald of Ice but with clarity, works just fine but DMG is lacking a bit :/

Are you using ice spear to delete the rares? Make sure to have a mana flask during story and you should be fine. On blue packs just cast hydro a second time in place

I really really want to try this in SSF but dont know if I can grab the uniques there

You have in poe level through acts 1-10 points and what to use before hydro i may try this and my original will be a fall back plan haha i can easily get void stones with this build?

I love the way this build looks, like you are swinging a ball around on a chain, slamming it into packs. It felt like complete crap to play "for me".

interesting build to try for my starter

As someone who has played many many league starters over the years, Hydrosphere was my favorite. 1. Easy campaign 2. Transition to end-game is straight-forward. Your iterative power gains are fairly linear. 3. Gearing for red maps was cheap, outside of Void Battery which was [redacted] chaos, everything was single digit chaos stuff 4. Bossed great, you can kill everything you need to on your own 5. It's "tanky" as in I didn't die much and lose my XP because I'm not shit at the game and freeze is a bonkers defensive mechanic. I think I leveled from 94-95 or something without dying. It's strong. 6. Scaling beyond the endgame into giga-damage territory was fun! This build isn't SOLVED in the same way others are, there are a lot of different ways to solve problems in PoE and this build embraces the fun of that. I hope you take the opportunity to enjoy this build in the same way that I did. It's different, the playstyle is fun, and it smashes everything in the game.

Do you belive that the higher crit chance and damage of Assassin is worth the tradeoff for the area of Occultist?

Sadly no. Vortex was reworked and it was needed to freeze the hydro

Doesn't blast freeze work to freeze the hydrosphere very easily while mapping?

You need the eldritch implicit on the gloves it makes mapping very smooth

Hey, wanted to ask if you're maybe playing winter orb rn and could tell me how it's doing in trials? I've pushed Hydro to lvl 97 and trials past 1k+ are just too annoying to deal with with this build. Been considering pivoting to Winter Orb, but only if it can manage trials better.

Mine is a lil different than yours but it's so fun Okay it's a LOT different since I use a Scion and sorta spec into templar and go tankier, but the jist of it is mostly the same. Such a cool skill that no one uses lol Since I'm a bit tankier I use Frostblink to go into the orb or go past the orb then move it through me into enemies, it's a trash mob destroyer!

Do you have loot filter for hydrosphere build?

Just got to maps with this build,I can confirm it does take a bit of time to get used to the playstyle,but when u get 2 4 links(1 for hydro,1 for vortex) it is extremely comfortable and satisfying to play. Really loving is so far and I hope it gets even better. Big up to you bossman.

Its either this or bonezone slayer - cant decide, hydro will let me play around with sacrifice or spellblade as a later build but slayer opens up interesting things with trauma and melee ignite

Sorry I should have mentioned that. Herald of ice gets a nice boost to freezes from that, which helps prolif them. Also having 100% crit means our hydrosphere crits every time we hit a pack, which makes clear feel so much more consistent

I'm a melee enjoyer so trauma etc is interesting, but every pob I've come up with has sucked, and all the pobs I've seen have been complete bait. All the generic starters haven't really changed, so I'm pretty sure you've got the only interesting league starter I've seen (actually fuzzy champ rain of arrows is cool too). Also looks nuts for sanctum. Thanks for the guide!

Is heatshiver good for this build?

The only way heatshiver works better is if you get it with the helm enchant AND +1 power charge. Then you’ll want to steal elementalists exposure node and get fire exposure somewhere, switch one of your gems to elemental penetration. Trinity doesn’t work with orb skills, so the only way this is worth it is super high investment and tons of damage

You can definitely play it in ssf. I did an eater exarch run in ssf this week. However pushing it into late game in ssf can be tough without uniques like badge/void

I have played 5 seasons of poe. When people say late game are we talking about getting the last 2 voidstones or further then this? I would like a build in ssf to get at least 4 voidstones before making a swap.

Not worth running on elementalist you lose half the damage and gain a tiny bit of AoE and exposure. If you are considering running this go occultist, I played it last league and it's very smooth.

League started this as an RF fire, cold dot hybrid until 3rd lab in ssf. Dope AF

It’s not conventionally tanky, but it avoids damage well through block, evasion and freezing enemies
