My Labor & Delivery Night Shift Experience | ND MD

Three night float shifts on labor & delivery can either be calm and uneventful, or chaotic chaos...the fun part is you never know which one you'll get until you get there. These nights were some of the most fun, growing, and memorable experiences I have had as a medical student. So much for a simple introduction into labor and delivery, but what a way to continue through my OB/GYN rotation. Hope you enjoyed this inside peek into my reactions to working on labor and delivery as a med student!

    Thanks for describing your three nights. I feel sorry for your sweet dog. I hope there’s someone there to care for her/him too.

    I looved the fact that you "caught" a baby right on your second night - guessed that transformed the whole experience. Thank you so much for sharing this!

    I'm so glad this popped up on my newsfeed, I was just talking to my dad about shadowing and possibly becoming an OB/GYN physician one day! Watching your experience just made me even more excited so thank you for showing us this!! Ngl I was a little bummed out after it ended! But guess that means I really love this specialty! Thank you from a current non-trad premed :)

    hi, incoming med student! I LOVE your videos. Question about your schedule during rotations- so if you work 3 12's in a row like this is that all you have for the entire week and then youre for 4 days? or do you still have random didactic classes to attend and stuff? Keep killin it! Youre gonna be an amazing doctor! Love watching your journey

    But why do they do planned c-sections in the night?

  • @NDMD

    @NDMD

    2 жыл бұрын

    more like they realized they needed one (baby is in a non favorable position for vaginal delivery) and scheduled it for the next hour or so. level 1 or emergency c-sections happen if there is an arrest of normal labor or things are going wrong in the middle of an attempted vaginal delivery so "planned" is more like we know we have to do it before hand not in the middle of
