    Not true with Leader length, I catch plenty of Kokes at 18”. 2-3 times flasher length and even longer with a spinner or cup on your bait. If it has too much movement fish tend to miss or not bother striking. I’ve fished Kokanee for 20 years and that’s my experience

    @@fbiagent3399 Troll the points at 1.0 to 1.2 mph. I have been hooking them at 18-22 ft. Corn soaked in Anise. I alternate between a dodger and blades with a hoochie. They seem to hit pink most often. White and chartruse works well too. I have some rainbow hoochies and they have never hit them. If they just aren't hitting, I go with microblades and a wedding ring, same bait.

    @@CerberusOnFire I'm going today to spirit lake.. will be going for perch/crappie since I don't really have anything useful for kokanee.. just very new to all of this.. do you have A instagram or Facebook that you can share yo setup with??.

  • @CerberusOnFire

    @CerberusOnFire

    Жыл бұрын

    @@fbiagent3399 I don't have either of those, but my rigs are pretty simple. For bass, crappie, perch, bluegill, I typically run a bait hook, 1/8oz split shot about 12" up. I use a worm threader so the worm covers the whole hook and the hook is at the very back of the worm. Toss it out, count to 5 and slow reel in. For Kokanee, I run two rigs. First one is a dodger with a hoochie about 10-12 inches back and tipped with garlic or anise soaked white shoepeg corn. Set the speed to 1mph and adjust the bend in the dodger until you get a nice whipping motion on the hoochie. My second rig is flashers with a wedding ring about 24" back, also tipped with garlic or anise soaked shoepeg corn. That second rig will often also get lake trout with a higher speed of 1.4 to 2.0 mph. I vary my speeds from .8 to 1.4 mph and I don't troll in a straight line. Run a couple minutes, turn 20 degrees, couple minute, back 20 degrees, etc. This causes the line on the inside to slow and drop and the outside to speed up and rise. That change often gets strikes.
