I feel like English teachers have the most effect on students tbh. Like no offense to other subject teachers but in my experience I always connect to my English teachers the most. My 7th grade English teacher helped me through my parents divorce. My freshmen English teacher helped me with my anxiety and depression. Now my junior English teacher is really helping me sit down and prepare for my life ahead. I’m actually looking into become a high school teacher. I would lOVE to be an English teacher, it seems so fun to teach and you can connect to today so easily. Sadly I’m horrible at anything English. I bet there are like 20+ mistakes in this comment. So I’m looking into math or history, really can’t decide. 🤷🏻‍♀️ but looking forward to life now! EDIT: Hey y’all! Update! I graduated highschool and am attending college in the fall for secondary education with history!

I know no one will read this lol.... I studied biochemistry during my undergrad (I wanted to go to med school and become an orthopedic surgeon). Ever since a little kid I told myself that I wanted to become a surgeon. I always had the instinct of helping people and I LOVE, LOVEE science and medicine, still. However, I felt that it was not 100% my passion. I felt that because both my parents and especially my moms side of the family (my aunties, uncles, cousins, etc.) are all physicians, surgeons and businessman... I felt as if it was 75% me... I was worried and struggling my last semester of junior year through the end of my senior on what my path truly was. I CONSTANTLY prayed and asked God where he wanted me to be. It wasn’t until my last week of my undergraduate career that my physics professor gave my class and I a speech. She told us to make sure we had a plan b and c, because not everyone that graduates in their undergraduate field ends up working in such field. So, she gave examples (counselor, politics, business...) then she said teacher and that’s when I knew what my calling was. I loved spilling my knowledge to friends and family about things I knew and new things I learned (I even saw it while I was in undergrad.) I knew that teaching was my calling because I could not focus on anything but becoming a teacher.... To end this long story, I am currently in Grad school (first semester), working on getting my M. A. T. ( Masters of Arts in Teaching) for elementary education!! And I’m loving every minute of it.

I just recently discovered your videos and they really help me stay optimistic about teaching as a career on days when I feel uncertain or unsupported by family/friends. Plus, it’s so cool to know that you were a fellow FSU student in education! I’m in the FSU teach program for environmental science, and this will be my senior year, so the anxiety of finally getting out there in the world is setting in now. Especially knowing that I will be a VERY young teacher, at 20 when I graduate. Thank you so much for helping me push past the stress a little and start to get excited about my future! 😊 I’ve seen a couple other comments suggesting this, but it would be super awesome to see a budgeting video about how you budget for a teacher’s salary (especially because I’m also here in FL, and we definitely don’t have the best salaries in the world for educators).

this made me smile SO much i love you, i related so much to a lot of this - I used to always write pretend parents night reports and pretend i was a teacher when i was little, and always loved english. I've known for years that i wanna work with kids, but kept changing my mind on what i want to do - I've taught in nurseries (age 0-5) while studying media in university (i'm in second year), and I'm starting a job as a nursing assistant while still in uni in order to work in pediatric wards, but there's just something about imagining myself in a classroom like you say helping and planning lessons and inspiring kids that just make me like YES and so happy and i think i finally know for sure what i wanna do! i just wanna say thank you for being a rly big part of that with your KZread videos, I'm sure ur students love you and you're the most awesome teacher

I am actually on my way to applying for P.A school (physician assistant) even though I am not gonna be a teacher your story really resonated with me. I knew that I wanted to be in medical field ever since I was a little girl as well, and even played doctor too lol. I know my journey is still a long one but your advice and stories really motivate me to keep going. Hope one day I can become a P.A that give light and hope to my future patients just like you do for your students:) Hearing you talk about how you love your high school experience really makes me wish that mine had been like that. Before entering high school I was hoping to do many things and had many expectations, but unfortunately it didn't worked out for me. I only have very few happy moments from my high school experience but most of them are painful. It's sad that even just looking at my high school triggers so many bad memories.

ALL of my teachers are so inspiring and have shaped me in so many ways and I just love them and the school. They’ve changed my LIFE. Because of them, I’d love to come back one day! I love helping the freshman with their English and Biology homework, and coaching them with their scenes!!! I hope to get a TA position next year (my senior year). I’m not sure if I want to pursue a conservatory style theatre program after school or an education degree, but I know I’d love to revisit my highschool and teach later on. Thank you so much! You’re so inspiring!

Can you make a video more about applying for jobs? Last May, I graduated with my bachelors in early childhood/childhood education and I am now a New York State certified teacher for children from birth through 6th grade. I’m also just finishing up my first semester of grad school, in a masters Literacy Specialist program so that I can soon become a certified reading teacher as well! Currently I am employed as a full-time building substitute (don’t have my own classroom or benefits yet) and some of my most discouraging thoughts include “you’re never gonna get your own classroom” even though I know I will at some point... it’s just hard to stay positive! Teaching in New York State is such a blessing because they treat teachers SO well, but with that comes competitive job searching. Tips on standing out?! Thank you. ❤️

I seriously just love your channel! I had wanted to be a high school history teacher forever and did a paraprofessional certificate just so I could support myself better while I finished my history degree, and while I was a para I lost my passion for working in schools. All of the teachers seemed so grumpy, the students were difficult, and it just was a really stressful and anxiety-inducing time. I applied to teaching school but never followed through on it. But, after some time away from the school system, I see now that being a para just wasn't the right fit for me. What I really want is my own classroom and my own students and lesson plans and I so, so, SO appreciate your videos and your passion for teaching, especially high school kids because that's what I want to teach! Anyways, hopefully I'll be able to start teaching school next year and get back into it and I'm so glad I have your videos to watch to keep me inspired and to keep reminding me of why I want to go into such a difficult career. It's all about making a difference and making the world a brighter place. Thanks for sharing, girl, and keep up the awesome videos.

I love seeing how passionate you are about your career. It warms my heart to see somebody with genuine love and care for their students, and a genuine desire to teach. Weirdly enough, though, you inspired me NOT to teach! I had this idea of being a teacher since I was about 15 or 16, I love English, I love that teen age group, but through seeing how much you love being a teacher, I realized I have no real passion for it (at least not right now). I'm grateful to have learned that. But of course I'll always watch your videos! I have a lot of admiration for the work you do and the joy you take in doing it!

I am currently a college senior and am one semester away from student teaching. I was telling some of my classmates how nervous I was to be in the high school because I feel as if the students won't listen to me (did I mention im 4'11!!?) My classmates told me about your videos and I just started watching them and I am IN LOVE! You inspire me to be a stronger future educator and I think you are so strong for continuing your profession even after everything you've been through. Thank you for helping me and helping so many other people!

I would love more videos on this topic!! I have so many questions!! Maybe you could film a Q&A? :) Did you have to submit an edTPA portfolio for your program? What are some key organizational/practical tips for going into the interview stage at the end of your program? What was your first year of teaching like? What were/are your biggest fears about being a teacher? What is something about teaching that you still haven’t figured out yet? 💕💕💕

I'm so happy you posted this video!! For a while I've been wanting to be a 1st grade teacher because I HATED 1st grade, my teachers were mean and evil. They didn't treat us with love or cared about us. So, I hope I can change the world somehow❤️

i'm currently in my second year of college, going for biology in secondary education. it wasn't something i chose until high school because until then, i hated science. but my freshman year, i had a biology teacher that changed that. i finally got to learn things hands-on and in detail. i had already known that i wanted to work with teenagers and be a good influence in the future. it just made sense to combine that with my passion for learning and my blooming passion for science, and the college i was accepted to had a stem education program. though i haven't hit the hardest upper level classes yet or taken those qualifying exams, i feel so secure in my choice because i love the classes i'm in. i have never felt so passionate about anything, but i could talk about science and education for days! it really inspires me to see you have a similar passion and use it so well. i just know you're making a difference on your students' lives, and it makes me all the more excited for my future career!

Im in my junior year of college studying journalism, but after watching your videos for a month or so, I realized that my true passion isn’t journalism at all. I realized that I want to become a teacher. You are so positive and passionate and inspiring and I think you’ve made me realize what I want to do with the rest of my life (just as a true teacher would do!). Hopefully this isn’t just a phase and I’ve actually found my life’s purpose because it would be a big step to change my entire life track. But I really think it’s something I want to do with my life!

I just applied back to college to finish my associates and go on for my bachelors...I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. I am planning to major in English and minor in music. I would like to teach high school English or choral music! I took time off after high school to get married and have babies...when you talked about feeling a connection to your high school, I felt that! I get to go back and be apart of my child’s activities and the high school just draws me! Thank you for this video!

i major in special education and i'm in my first week of internship! i was assigned to children with ASD and though it's entirely draining (as expected because teaching requires tons of energy and focus), i'm loving every experience of it!! i've had my fair share of doubts with my chosen career, months and months passed by bleak, but now i wake up and go to bed thinking about my students!! i've never been SO excited and happy and fullfilled!!! our dean here always reminds us to push through because our future students are waiting for us! thought i'd share with all of you the motto that we live by in my uni: WE'RE HERE TO TEACH MINDS, TOUCH HEARTS, AND TRANSFORM LIVES! 💕 sending much love and warm hugs all the way from the Philippines!! ✨😘🥰

Just wanted to let you know that I passed edTPA- which is how we are certified now in AL- and my last day of internship was last Friday. It's so rewarding to know that I made it through and made an impact on the students during my internship. I would love the idea of a series of a step by step of becoming a teacher. I would also love a video on tips for first year teachers. Like how you found your job and how the first year experience was. I'm eager to get started!!

I know this is a little late but.. Honestly the fact that you went back to the school that you fell in love with and felt the most comfortable to teach at I believe is not crazy! I am going into elementary education and will be teaching 2nd grade and I plan on returning to my elementary school.. because that made the biggest impact on me where I fell in love with learning at such an earlier age and want to make an impact on the little ones. Hoping I can make an impact on their lives as my teachers did with mine. I am so excited to be on this journey and your videos help so much!!!💜💜
