My JOURNEY to becoming a DOCTOR | Attending a Caribbean Medical School

My journey to becoming a doctor. It definitely was not easy and took a lot of school, hard work, and sacrifice. If you were thinking about going into medical school and becoming a doctor this is a video that you should watch. It is very important to know how long it takes and the sacrifice it requires. At the end of the day I truly believe that the journey is worth it. In this video I discuss my journey from high school, to undergraduate, to medical school in the Caribbean, to couples matching at our top ranked residency program. If you have any questions about any of the above please make sure to comment below. As always thank you for your love and support!

Thank you so much for talking with us at WAUSM today. You are so inspiring. Also, I love your child's name. My grandson has the same name!

Hi Tommy, I'm Justin. We've interacted before and are friends on Facebook. I am a Christian and was a missionary in Africa for 5 years. I am also pursuing medicine. I have some prophetic words over my life too. I just want to say it's refreshing to hear someone speak so freely about the role God has played in directing your path. I hope we can connect more in days ahead. God bless!

Loved to hear your story! You experienced a lot of uncertainty but now you look back and see how God was preparing you for where you are now! It’s super inspiring to me as a rising senior in undergrad thinking about medical school. What kind of shadowing/clinical experience did you have before medical school? I’m an EMT right now, but I think I need to shadow some doctors to see if I really want medical school. I’ve also been volunteering in kid’s ministry at my church for two years, so pediatrics is on my mind. I think that even though it would be sad to see sick kids, the outcomes are generally better, what do you think?

Really beautiful story! Thanks for the encouragement. I’m actually quite a new follower of Jesus! It took me a while to see that He had always been there, walking with me through some tough times. Christ is my firm foundation! HiI’m starting nursing school next month and am petrified because I’ve always crammed for tests and nursing school is going to be different 😅 Any study tips or insight on how you learned how to study would be so appreciated!

Hey Dr. Martin. I am from Arkansas and I have been a traveling ICU nurse for 7 years. I just got accepted to SGU. Can I contact you with questions about the program and matching at UAMS? I am also a Christian and have been prophesied by a preacher in 2018 about my journey.
