Guys, here's a pro advice: Build your own website and start showcasing your projects there. You can build your own projects, no need to have clients or work as a freelancer or intern at a company. This is how I got my foot in the door and it really works. Employers see you differently when you have your own website and post articles about what you do. Even if you have no Computer Science degree (I don't).

Oh my god , this advice is really amazing and so unique, I think this might be the type of thing that really makes people stand out in interviews. How did u get started, like what did you learn to make a website?? What sources did you use?
when she said "i learned a lot" she actually meant A FUCKING LOT
A couple months ago, I was looking for some female representation in the computer science community, but I couldn't find anything. It's so encouraging and inspiring to see you and your videos. I hope to major in computer science next year, and after seeing your positive opinion on it, I'm even more excited. Thank you so much!

@@callMeHasoomy I'm a computer science major in my 3rd year of undergraduate study. I've even got a couple SWE internships under my belt too. So so far so good! I'm really excited to graduate and be a full-time SWE engineer really soon. I forgot that I wrote this comment so thanks for the reminder. It's cool seeing things like this come full circle 😌👩💻
Inspiring stuff, love what you're doing with this! I'm full stack web developer (really junior at this stage) and I always love to see these stories. I look forward to your future videos!
Thank goodness I found your channel, Mayuko! I'm in my third year studying IT and I'm not sure of which field to focus on. I spent my first 2 years just barely getting by and it's making me so depressed. Hearing your journey into Software Engineering is inspiring me to try harder now. Thanks for sharing your experience, you just saved a life.
Love your channel! Subscribed! I graduated college long time ago and been in the travel industry for the past 12 years until I finally decided to make a career change to coding and your videos are so encouraging! I feel like it's too late to make the change and also not confident in myself but watching you helps for some reason. Your videos are just really informative and relaxing at the same time. Btw, you are so attractive and pretty! (maybe that's the reason...:P)
I have 0 to do with software engineering or all these things you're talking about, but I found out about your channel today when my Recommended section had your 'a day in a life of' video. Not only are your videos really well-paced, but you're also an extremely good communicator, and your enthusiasm is ridiculously contagious. I subscribed because your take on your work and your view of it and your field is super interesting, and I'm always excited to learn more about what people do, so thanks for your videos!
You're such an inspiration! I'm glad I found your channel, I've been so passionate about computer science and finding more inspiration from you has skyrocketed my thoughts on working even more harder to achieve my goals! Thank youu 💕💕
Thanks myan, u inspire me. Tons of blessing to u.
I really enjoyed watching your video and how much you love software engineering. It just makes me wanna love my job and have fun at the same time.
You've just answered all my question and doubts... thank you so much !
Thanks for this! Keep this vids coming, whether it be coding tips and tricks or vlogs just keep it coming.

Mayuko, thank you for the inspiring video! The way you found and developed your passion for software engineering has given me the courage to continue developing a passion of my own.
this motivated me so much!
Sweet video - thanks for posting :D I started my first job in software engineering about a year ago where there are few female developers :( It's fab to see you bossing it :D
I'm so happy that I found you, I myself are training myself to be a programmer, and see if that takes me further into computer science someday. Right now I'm loving it!! Following you and watching your videos has showed me that your way of life looks a lot like the way of life I would like to have. A LOT!!
Seeing hard work paying off really delights! It's simply fun to receive this positive energy you share. Keep it up! I'm a great fan! Your videos have so much style and your content is really enriching with all this knowledge and experiences you are sharing! Best regards! ♡
This was such an inspirational video!!! Thank you for the awesome upload!!
Really enjoyed hearing about your journey! Thanks for sharing :)
Your videos help me relaxing everytime I want to sleep, and the bonus from that is that I'm learning something about software engineering too, wow, you're amazing!
Mayuko your way of presenting computer science so creative. As a computer science student makes me so proud of choosing this major so I create things for betterment of people.
"Go with your gut, and what your passionate about." Those are words I live by. Great video.
Hello Mayuko!! This video really inspired me to continue my CS major with even more passion than before. I go to college in SF, and am currently taking a Data Structures class. There are definitely many times where I feel like I'm not cut out for this major bc I tend to compare myself to everyone else and I tend to see myself as a slower learner or someone that hasn't accomplished as much. However, I'm still just as determined to learn as much as I can about all the different programming languages and hopefully land an awesome job like you! Also going to be tuning in to your videos for motivation & inspiration! ❤️

So inspirational. Thank you, Mayuko. You’re the reason I am a now aspiring Software Engineer.
Hi Mayuko, thanks for another great video. Love those emoji 😁. Patreon seems like such a great and fun place to work! Love to find out more about how you approach and learn about mobile & ios development. Keep them videos coming! 😄
VERY INSIGHTFUL IN MY JOURNEY! THANK U!
I'm motivated AF right now , thanks !!!!
Hey Mayuko. Watching this and your other videos actually helped to broaden and helped me gain more knowledge to tackle Software Engineering. I’ve been uncomfortable about it due to not so good math skills. But yesterday I gave it a try to learn a language and it actually felt exciting. I can’t wait to step on college and actually do something bigger in my career. Thank you again!
Awesome videos! Please continue to share with us. Very inspirational as someone who is getting back into code.
You are amazing, I'm looking forward in seeing your next videos, I am curently studying to be a programmer and it helps a lot to hear your experience, I can't wait to hear more tips from you on how to be good at this job. You are realy great.

It's awesome to Hear Mayuko! I am a software engineer too.. And That literally makes me happy. Building your own code and solving world's problem is an awesome feeling. Sometimes a bit frustrating there seems to be no solutions to a problem. But eventually.. You'll get there. Thats the awesomeness of this field. Your videos did inspired me alot and Thank you for making all that.. All the very best!
I'm going to share this video with my daughters. You have an awesome channel. Thanks!
I totally have the exact mug you have at the beginning haha, what are the odds! I'm new to your channel and I love your energy. I'm an Aerospace Engineering student trying to learn computer science out of self interest (and I'm finishing in one more semester so I can't do a minor). Your story is super insightful and inspiring, thanks so much for sharing!
Great work keep up the awesome job and thanks for sharing your journey with use.
So freaking awesome!
Thank's for making all your videos. They help understand more the possibilities of a software engineer. I am at the moment trying to decide between going the computer software route, or the electrical. I am leaning a lot to computers, and more to software in recent weeks. Take care, and have a good day.
the lil geek in me has been awaken, thank you very much... i live in Africa and doing some python course on edx
Omg! Im a Computer science graduating student and have a soft spot for space! Thanks for this Mayuko! I hope to see you someday and personally thank you.
I can relate in so many ways, never programmed before college either, just got my degree in May and started my first job working on financial software. Anyway, I'm so happy for you :) Can't wait to see more videos!
wow, I had such a hard time coding while working in college. Making up for it now though. You should be super proud!
Thank you for posting this. I've been contemplating a career change and it would be a 180 change.
This video was very encouraging. I’m currently a software engineering student (just finished my first semester) and have been nervous about how I’ll break into this career field as it’s so new for me. This video really helped!
You really know how to deliver your stories. So cool. Love this video:)
God everything about your story is so inspiring

Thank you for sharing your story! I have been really worried about majoring in computer science since last year because I didn't know what I really want to do. I love art but I also love technology, sadly my high school doesn't have much tech classes so I was afraid that I wouldn't get a job in the future. However, your story makes me a bit more relieved because it doesn't seem like it is never too late to learn about programming/computer science! Thank you so much~
Hey! I am on my way to software engineering and it was very inspiring to listen to you. Thanks! :)
Thanks for the videos, trying to get into computer science. keep them coming.
Hello, Mayuko! I started watching your videos today and I just subscribed your channel. I want you to know that I am really happy and relaxed while watching your videos😃 Thank you for doing these good things♥
I really like your videos. I'm in my second year of computer science degree. Right now I'm learning app and web development. Your journey is really inspiring for me. Keep making such amazing videos. Thanks!
Wow, this really helped. I'm still in high school and am passionate in both Computer Science and Physics. Your example of using CS in other fields is really inspiring to me. I'm just starting to figure out the different career paths I can take, and this is helping me narrow down my options. Of course, nothing beats just taking the courses through trial and error to figure out what profession you want to be in, but this is still helping my decision process.
time management and constant change.. It was inspiring!
Thank you for your videos. I am currently going to college for Software Development and Security, your videos give me a lot of insight on what to expect.
Very inspiring and insightful. Thank you!
thank you for this video!
I have only watched a couple of your videos but I really like your approach towards the topic 'Software Engineering'. There are tons of KZreadrs creating videos everyday about CS and software development, etc but I like that you let us take a look into your personal experiences about this field and I generally just feel that your videos are not just informative but also quite intimate :) So thank you, I have been enjoying them so far.
That's a great and inspiring story. For me I haven't gone through a CS program but want to learn and get into programming. Once again I just wanted to thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Really glad to find your channel! I really need some motivation for studying programming. Good content and keep up the good work! Subbed!!👍
Great video! Thanks!
Wow! Your place offers a lot of opportunities! Thanks for making this channel. Looking forward for more videos! I'm working as a developer myself.
wow! what can i say girl, i'm literally inspired.... thank you
AAAYYYEEEE LEZZGOOOO! Great journey
Your videos are very inspiring and it really means a lot to me as a CS major. i love it
I can't wait for more videos !
Hi! I'm currently in my second year college TRYING to get into my university Computer science program. I'm so glad i found your channel it inspires me to work even harder. I know computer science is what i want to do, and I've been scared about whether or not i would succeed, but lately my hard work has been giving me great results! I love the content you make and keep it up! Thank you!
I'm a UCSD undergraduate studying math and computer science right now! This was pretty inspiring since I tend to have a lot of questions about the direction of my career, but the foot-in-the-door technique is definitely something to keep in mind. Thanks for sharing your story!
Very motivating. Thank you.
love your vlogs!
Hola, Very nice video . Thank you for sharing your journey with us.
Very unique page, I dig the information. I'm an electrical engineer major but I have a lot of interest in programming/mobile development. Keep up the videos!

nice video! was wondering how you went about leaving intuit for another opportunity, what's the usual procedure/way to do it gracefully. Also for a future video it would be great to talk about what it's like to live/work in the valley, what the culture is like and stuff. Everyone I've talked to about it have had conflicting experiences.
@hellomayuko
7 жыл бұрын
Hi Tom! Thank you! It's common courtesy (maybe even law where I live?) to give 2 weeks notice to the job that you're leaving. When I left Intuit I knew about a month ahead of time so I let my manager know as soon as I made the decision to leave so that any handoff of knowledge or projects could be done thoughtfully and easily! Also because of weekly check-ins with my manager about my career goals, my decision to leave a position or company usually is not a big surprise - my managers in the past have been extremely supportive about my decision! I can totally see how there could be conflicting opinions! I'd be happy to talk about this in a future video (and offer up another opinion, my own), thanks for the idea!
I just found your channel and i love it!
Thank you for much for your videos. A greeting hugh from Colombia!
When you want to take a break from the Techlead, goto mayuko. :D
Subbed! I ran into your video while looking for help with one of my C++ assignments lol. I'm an EE major and on the fence of changing majors to Software Engineering Technology. Its been 9 years since I dropped out of my junior year in college. Coming back to college and trying to remember everything dedicated to my EE program is quite daunting. For some reason, I'm picking up C++ easier and quicker than any of my electronics courses. I'm still getting a grasp of the logic behind programming, it's coming quicker and it's got my attention. Thank you for your uploads as they are very inspiring :D
Hi Mayuko, really enjoyed your video, and also our conversation on the train yesterday, on the way to San Francisco. Best, Paul
Love the videos; I hope you keep them up! :)
I think I'll be subscribing to your channel. This is the 2nd video i've watched now and they've both been very interesting.
Loved your story, Mayuko! Subscribed. :)

Thank you mayuko, I am a student in Finland, and just get refused from many companies for internship. your videos, somehow, gave me some encourage and advice. But I still feel confused for what to learn, front-end or back-end, mobile or web. I tried all of them, but there is not much feeling until now.
I loved this video!
This was an amazing video! I'm a recent mechanical engineer graduate and just like you said, keeping a social life plus orgs and demanding classes was the hardest thing ever. But anyway I'm currently still applying and interviewing for my first career position. Its hard, lots of rejection lol but this video motivated me to keep on pushing and get that job I deserve. Thank you, Mayuko. Hopefully, our engineering paths cross one day.
I am your fan now. Hope to see more of your vids. :) any content I just enjoy watching you.
Thank you , your video is really helpful.
hey, love your videos! I'm currently studying CS in my A-Levels (in the UK) and I plan on going to uni this September to study CS, after I graduate I really want to move to silicon valley and work for a great company, your videos are great for inspiration! keep it up!
Thank you for inspiring a lot of women to pursue a degree related in tech and sciences. As a grade 12 student as of the moment, I think i know what course to take in college. Keep motivating a lot of people, mayuko!! :)
