My journey into horticulture

Explaining how I became a horticulturist having not been exposed to it as a career option or even as anything but a hobby for an older person. I feel truly happy to have found my passion and it's important to share it so other people can experience having the option of a vocational career.

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I have struggled through out my 20s trying to decide what to do with my life. I was working fast food jobs while being absolutely miserable, and I just realized a couple of days ago that gardening/horticulture has always been my passion and is so interesting to me. I'm sitting here, at 30 years old, wondering why I never thought to pursue it as a career! I just didn't think it was a viable option. I'm feeling so inspired to go to school for it now. Thanks again for the wonderful video! Liked and subbed 👍

i feel like i have been in the exact same boat but working entry level in retail and office work just to get by til i figure out what i wanted to do. I started on the RHS level 2 course in practical horticulture at my local college in 2019 and loved it! its an evening course so i could do it around work, and now im on the theory part of the course which im finding a lot less stimulating because im sat at a desk all day for work and then we are learning from home at the minute so it's taking it's toll. hopefully i can start the level 3 practical course in september though and be back outside and building up my confidence! Good luck to you and go for it!!!

I've always thought about pursuing a career in a creative industry but now I feel like horticulture aligns more with my values of caring for the earth and getting your hands dirty, I wonder why so many creatives get drawn into this career. Thanks for the video, it is really helpful to listen to personal experience when you're researching new job prospects!

I’m 19 and I’ve been stunted on what I want to go into as a career for a while. I love drawing and art and actually do freelance illustration for work most of the time, I used to want to go into the animation industry but art school is extremely expensive and won’t guarantee you a good job, if any at all. Horticulture wasn’t something I had ever considered doing, but I recently came across an apprenticeship program and started doing research about it, and stumbled across your channel! The more I research about it the more I find it might be the perfect fit for me. Thanks so much for these videos, they’re extremely motivating and informative, I love how your room looks in the background as well and your personality :)

Thank you for sharing your story, this motivated me to take on horticulture as a career option. I love plants and was hesitant to pick horticulture because of how some people think it's not a viable option.

I am glad that I watch your video, thx for sharing. I am at my 30s and want to have a career change to horticulture. I don't know how to start with as apprenticeship is so competitive and lots of job turn me fown. I think I need to get some qualification at first (now I only have level one) and maybe find gardeners like you. Hope I can get experience😢
