My Japanese Suzuki Kei Truck | Importing a JDM car from Japan to Australia | DIY Camper Build

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I was introduced to JDM Japanese Kei Light Truck Campers one Sunday afternoon, whilst watching KZread camping videos. A trend that has changed my idea of travelling and camping. What an amazing way to camp! So small, and so adorable.
I loved my journey from finding out about these tiny houses on wheels, to my surprise, actually buying and importing my very own small Suzuki Carry from Japan to Australia.
I used 'J-Spec Imports' and the process was seamless. I am absolutely thrilled to now have 'COSY' (the name I gave the truck) join my family.
Inspirational Kei truck Channels featured in this video are:
Small Base Camp
Shido-Lab
The Japan News by The Yomiuri Shimbun
Please follow my journey as I build the cottage and then travel about in my micro 'Cosy Cottage Camper!'
Cheers,
Tamara

Let me know of any ideas you may have for the camper build? Lightweight framing materials, roof styles, internal layout etc...

In regards to ideas, we export a lot of these trucks from Japan each month. We've had customers transform them into snow ploughs, Fishing trucks, hunting stands, mobile advertising boardings, and various other ideas... there's just so much you can do with them. Glad you're enjoying yours!

@autoportalcoltd Oh wow that's lots of different options for sure! I'm absolutely loving the mini truck. I haven't seen many here in Australia so I get lots of looks wherever I take it. And that's not even with the camper on it yet haha. Thanks for your comment 😊

Greetings from Denmark. Is there any reason why you chose a Suzuki and this specific year/model? Will a 0.667 liter motor be enough for Australia? Thanks ahead for your kind reply.

@jonathanbmBen-Menachem Hello Johnathan from Denmark. Thanks for your comment and watching my video! I chose the suzuki carry because I wanted a small kei truck which we don't have many of in Australia. The engine is only 660cc but I chose it because they are so unique here and it would be an easy size to maneuver around. I got the 2020 model because it came up at auction in Japan for a really great price so went for it. However I did want a 4WD version so will see how it goes with the camper and can always upgrade the car later seeing as the camper will be a slide on and off version.

Following your wonderful channel, still looking forward to importing something similar to Denmark. I wonder how economically is the mini truck when it comes to petrol consumption. Is the motor below the seats? Does it heats the cockpit when driving at 70 km/h? What is your kind and honest experience? Again, many thanks for your time and kind sharing of experience.
