Such a beautiful Bible!! Thank you for sharing! I really liked the "If God could use a donkey, He could also use me." I just read through that section of the Bible today so it really resonated with me.

Being of a generation when even underlining in my Bible was considered horrifying, I am fascinated by all the Bible decorating. I also loved you discovering carbon paper. It is an ancient way to copy, dating back to when people had to make their own. The new version is amazing because your hands don’t turn purple or black like they used to.

I use the Gelly Roll white pens by Sakura and I like them! I don't know if you have ever tried them before but they've always seemed to work for me..sometimes I have to go over it twice to have extra white ink but I don't really mind that..I'm not particularly picky with my pens though. I hope this helps if you're still looking for one.

I have just started and I feel a bit overwhelmed yet excited!! If you have any advise for me of what to first buy to get started.. however I know you are super busy... I am just excited to get my New purple Bible to start coloring I am mainly just gonna color in it at first.. I was raised in church and I am a Christian I have just had to work a lot over the last 20 years that I haven’t been in a church since I moved away from my home church so I am trying really hard to get back inspired by the word to get my family into a new church 500 miles away from my home church where my father is an elder deacon and I just miss my family & church family..

I'm excited YOU'RE excited!! Yes- just get started! You really don't need much- just something to journal in (a Bible, an old hymn book, a sketchbook, a notebook, etc....) and maybe some colored pencils or gel pens and maybe some watercolors if you want to paint. Then as you go, you can start adding other things- but many things you can find around your house- you can use scrapbook paper or old cards, magazines for images (or print images out), you can use wrapping paper or ribbon, find things to make stencils out of (I have used packing material and mesh bags), etc...- just get creative and use what you have! Welcome to the Bible Journaling community!!

Yes, I order a couple of things from Amazon: One is called Glossy Full Sheet Clear Translucent Waterproof Sticker Paper (8.5 x 11) which comes in 25 sheets or you can get a package of Adhesive Vellum (Acid and Lignin free) 8.5 x 11 (which isn't totally clear like the sticker paper but is still pretty translucent). I use both at times. Or you can even get one of those Xyron machines which make anything into a sticker and print onto clear paper or vellum (if your printer would do that) and make your own stickers (a little more work, though). I use the machine if I want to make random things into stickers. Hope that helps!!

Broglia123 you can buy tons of see through stickers or vellum stickers. But if you want to make your own you would need to buy that type of paper. But you can buy pre made stickers all over like at hobby or craft stores, online, etc... You just have to search for the types of images you want.

It’s actually NOT “just a book” it is alive and powerful. It’s God’s word! Did you know that there are many Jewish people who would not lay their Bible on the floor they wouldn’t dream of it! out of respect for God. they have that much reverence for God‘s holy Word. Your Bible is decorated very beautifully. I just wonder why you couldn’t do it alongside with like a travelers notebook maybe. themed out for the different books of the Bible. Can you imagine, if after God gave Moses the 10 Commandments, Moses stopped on his way down ,from Mount Sinai ~ took some berries, Maybe some leaves and then colored and pressed them into the stone just to give it a little color; some green, some red and it was very hard to read after that. and Moses said to the people ‘God gave me this word, but is boring to look at just His word, so i decorated it . it’s a little hard to read now, but I think you’ll get the idea!!....It’s just that we live in the end days, I’m sure of it. And one of the signs of it being the end days is a loss of reverence for God and his word. A falling away. I think even well-meaning Christians just start to lose a little respect here and there. this is an example of that maybe. beautiful artwork though.

I appreciate your thoughts and well written words. I agree it’s not just a book and I personally revere the Word of God as holy… that’s why if I only had one Bible I wouldn’t journal in it. As I am blessed to have multiple ones I feel I can use a couple to create in. I fully understand that people have differing viewpoints on this and absolutely respect that.

I agree, there are ways to get around totally obliterating the words/message, such as staying within margins, using overlays, flaps, vellum, etc., and still create an amazing journaled remembrance. Even though I may have 10 bibles not written in at all, if I'm looking through this one in particular there might be that one kernel where God speaks to the viewer and it would be a shame to miss it if it were obliterated. Just my humble opinion. I do admit, your Bible is a work of art and has much emotion attached.
