My Horrifying (BUT SUCCESSFUL) Animal Factory in Planet Zoo

Ойындар

What if we stripped away all joy from Planet Zoo and created a zoo with a different agenda? An animal factory for profit and credits? Well it's possible, but it's a horrible zoo devoid of joy! Still, it works and this video shows you how.

About me: I'm Plastic Swans and I do a lot of wacky stuff with Planet Zoo, like racing the animals and time trials. I like to call this kind of thing wholesome chaos and that's what I try to do most of all on the channel. I also make one-off habitats and zoos, and I also make the starter habitats for Planet Zoo, a collection of ready-made franchise/challenge compatible habitats for every animal in the game.

    I feel like the balloon shop could have worked if you disabled selling all colour of balloons but one, seeing 3 thousands guests all carrying nothing but red balloons I think would have that impact of horrifying utilitarian uniformity you were going for.

    All my zoos look like this. Dead flat habitats but with all basics covered, on a grid layout. Mainly this is because I lack the patience to create impressive habitats.

    Well that is technically a good thing, one time I made this really pretty habitat that was 3 story’s,the first one was the swimming area the second was sleeping and the third one was foood and toys, but when I put the female and albino male in th pen, they couldn’t even move, they had a huge area to move but no they didn’t know what to do they just stood there,I moved them to a larger area, but the female could only swim since she was the smallest,so making smaller less complicated and detailed habitats are better then pretty, detailed, and more expensive ones.

    I actually like how this looks, maybe because Im not a builder, but someone obsessed with breeding perfect animals in franchise so I do big factories just for one specie I want. I love seeing other people's "factories" even though they may be not sufficient enough. I dont find a lot of people with the same way of playing xd.

    I love both sides of the game. Franchise Mode is great for when you want to just breed stuff rather than create an aesthetic zoo!

    I have recently started playing planet zoo and franchise, and I have one main zoo where I put a lot of thoughts into building big, beautiful with a focus on ethical zookeeping and one breeding zoo that's basically just square brick boxes with the least possible vegetation/hard shelter. Guess which one is super popular among the guests and rakes in massive amounts of cash.

    The limited available area of the last Career zoo, the Bernie Memorial Zoo, got me into an idea that I later translated to Franchise Zoos to farm CC. I built stacked habitats from glass, with usable ramps also made from glass. Basically my animals lived in glass skyscrapers 😂 It worked nicely and having a small floor space and paths on multiple levels and everything made of glass gave me crazy view ratings from the visitors. It still felt very unethical though. Might revamp that idea for a futuristic/cyberpunky zoo one day again

    Wow, indeed that's certainly thinking outside the box! I had a passing thought about making every habitat the exact same size, and then building up vertically like how you've mentioned, but I didn't realise visitors would be able to see them on upper floors without having a path right next to them. The idea of having to figure out the pathing for a vertical zoo of that nature put me off a bit!

    I’d be so curious to see a follow up on this where you use this zoo as a foundation to work from. Pretend as though it was built when zoo animals were treated like an art exhibit more than living creatures and that it’s your role to bring some joy and life back into their exhibits.

    I think there's a balance to be had between plain and oppressive and 'joyful' design. The double pathway worked really well and is something I definitely think I'll be taking forward in future builds

    This is actually kindof an ingenious manipulation of Frontier's algorithm if anything. Brava! You can take away some education on how to maximize profits without focusing too much on all the other matters. After watching this, I kindof feel like I know how to structure a zoo better.... just maybe without the evil-sided factory thing. lmao.

    One time there was this red panda challenge, and i bulldozed my first zoo and created cookie cutter red panda habitats. Just before the challenge ended i released ALL OF THEM, it dragged down my fps to 5, took 10 minutes for the popup to load, and when i finally confirmed it i ended up with 200.000 credits 💀💀💀

    I've been trying to run an African breeding zoo in franchise mode, and I cannot express how annoyed I'm at the protestors coming to protest the Addax feeling stressed and thus *making them more stressed*!! I had to put in one way glass the entire habitat wall. Btw, the porcupines are really strong and fast swimmers, something I learned trying to do a moat-based habitat. A swimming race could be interesting

  • @PlasticSwans

    @PlasticSwans

    I think this is far better than many (zoo) animals are treated in real life, to be honest! A good build, to be honest - I didn't think of it as hell, but more a recreation of Zoo Tycoon 1 or something. Or maybe a zoo in a developing nation or in some communist state and/or technocracy? After all, you did meet all requirements for the animals and guests. A super interesting build! Could you upload more of it, maybe?
