    it’s interesting to me as a powerlifting/ general strength athlete to see the side of calisthenics that most strength athletes ignore cause it has poor carryover. In calisthenics things like pull-ups, push-ups, dips and handstand push-ups with support are fantastic for general strength and hypertrophy (very related qualities) but the skill work and flexibility work are very off that path so it’s cool to see how your approach is actually pretty similar just for a different goal. If I want a big squat I need to strengthen my weakest link and then practice the movement, your 80%/20% rule actually works really well for this too. You’re fantastically strong, please make more videos soon!

    IMpressive! I haven't done even wall supported handstands in a while but I'll pick them back up for upper chest and shoulder strength. I need to get some gymnast around here to coach me. I'll be close once I get more strength; it's just form.

    I am wfpb also. I see you look very healthy and fit, and a big part is that great diet. I follow Mcdougall diet, 6 years now to lower LDL, which went from 120 mg/dl (high being over 100) to 70 (ideal). I fixed my weight, blood pressure and resting heart rate with the heart healthy wfpb diet. 6 years now, at age 54, still healthy.

    Defo all about the 80/20 drills and attempts love that no bs realness. As an athlete most of my progress was from strength training and repetition on core fundamentals that was 80% of the time and high end performance, overcoming boundaries to exceeding greatness was 20% of the time. Mastery skills are an amazing achievement but without a strong foundation on and off the mat i found so much stress and adiction in overachieving i lost the love for the art. I can now say that im a new beginner with a new outlook and i will enjoy all the parts like a symphony of bliss with a slice of warrior in my veins! 😂

    Love your videos! I saw an older video where you mention you were whole food plant based and no protein powder. Would love to see a video on that.. I’m trying Whole Food diet myself but currently taking pea protein powder as I’m concerned of losing muscle? Or so I’m told 😅also do you portion or are you an intuitive eater? Also would love your thoughts on supplements vitamins algae oil etc. thank you!!❤❤

    Could you do a video on injury prevention or how to deal with injuries? I love calisthenics, but my tendency to easily injure myself seems to hinder my progress. I’d be willing to bet there are other similar people in your audience too. Love your content btw! You’re the reason I can do 12 consecutive pull-ups!

    Serious question - for your workouts, do you specifically focus on your calisthenics/stretching or do you incorporate weight training (more of isolating muscle groups). I’m just curious how you maintain and build your muscle 😊 you’re so inspiring!

  • @Summerfunfitness

    @Summerfunfitness

    I only do calisthenics for upper body. For my lower body, I do weight mobility like in my weighted mobility video. You build muscle by applying the same strength principles that you apply to weight training. You can program calisthenics for bodybuilding, power, endurance, strength, hybrid, skills...etc.

    Have you ever gotten mid trap knots/tightness that just doesn't seem to go away? Reason I ask is because I assume as a calisthenics athlete you use your entire back on a regular basis. Hoping you could recommend me your best stretches because I've been trying to massage my mid trap with foam roll/lacrosse ball to no avail

    You have an imbalancement. If al your doing is scorpion bends, you are missing the inverse = Invert handstands. Basically you need to learn the invert handstand. Don't just do the scorpion. Bicept/ tricept or Scorpion handstand / invert handstand. The invert handstand will complement your scorpion.
