My Himiway cruiser unbox and assembly! - Tinkering Turtle

Спорт

Enjoy the unboxing and assembly of my Himiway cruiser Fat tire electric bicycle. This is my first attempt at a multi camera video. Unfortunately towards the end one of my cameras shut off, so I did a voice over to complete the video. Enjoy!

    This video was a life saver. Himiway's videos and owners manual were very bad. They didn't even match what was in my box. Your video was exactly what I received and my chain guard was in the accessory box and I had no idea what it was. Thank you for putting this video together. I gave Himiway my assembly feedback, hopefully they will make improvements

Nor do they actually show a step by step. Their manual is also so terrible and unhelpful. I haven't had a chance to ride my bike yet! Been sitting here a couple of weeks now because I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Their videos don't even have the same components that they sent me! But apparently you got sent the same, and this is a REAL step by step with REAL explanations. Their videos didn't help me at all. Nor did their manual. Nor do they answer my phone call! Himiway cust service SUCKS! They should pay you to make their videos for them. Thanks again!

    I bought my Cruiser from Himiway in Canada. The bike was perfect except for the brakes. They substituted the Tektro Aries 180 mm brakes with Radius 180 mm. brakes . The cheaper brakes had a problem with pulsating and rubbing and I had to change the rotors . Himiway reimbursed me. They should have put the Tektros brakes as advertised ...they're just better brakes.

    I finally got my himiway got it assembled thanks for the video my question is the battery my wife has a rad they said to charge it for twelve hours for the first three charges regardless of how many bars where used after that charge till you see the green light and always charge it after you ride even if it's not low because theirs no memory technology in the battery does the same hold true on a himiway battery

  • @TinkeringTurtle

    @TinkeringTurtle

    3 жыл бұрын

    Your welcome for the video. To your question, yes and no. The advice Rad gives is basically the same for Himiway. You want to overcharge the first few times to balance the cells. But my understanding is that these batteries have a given number of charges. For battery longevity it’s best to not fully charge. Charging to 80%-90% will extend the life of the battery. So I tend to charge every other ride, which reduces the number of charge cycles. Here is a good article on battery maintenance. www.electricbike.com/ebike-battery-longevity/

    My Himiway arrived today!!! However didn't heed your warning about the headlight connection. I didn't see the two super fine wires and thought the red plastic was a protective plug. I proceeded to try and pull the "plug" out and of course it broke into pieces. I watched several assembly videos including Himiway's and none showed specifically how this connect works. Oh well, I'll hard wire it tomorrow. Great first ride though but I had to cut it short because of darkness with no headlight :(

    It's a bit outdated. It assumes you don't have fenders. So it has you install the headlight after the handlebars, which will screw you since you have fenders now. I wish the manual had a parts list. You have to guess what fasteners go where. Not that it's that difficult for handy people, but others will have a problem.

Also the consensus on the handle for the quick release is that it should be on the brake side of the front tire. left side of the bike if your sitting on it.

That U bracket really sucked and was not appropriate for the light or the included bolt. The hole on the bracket had a square hole and the bolt had a round head. Why? Did they not have the correct part? And the U bracket was too big for the light. Terrible fit.

    @@TinkeringTurtle Awesome - I got my bike on Sat and rode Sat, Sunday, and briefly Monday night. It's a great bike and I had a lot of fun. However, I weigh 200lbs exactly, and I got only 35 miles the 1st day on a charge with mostly peddle assist 3 (and peddling mostly) and 30 the following (much more peddle assist and throttle though). Then yesterday I decided to use mostly throttle and I didn't even get 20 miles. Is this normal? Himiway claims 40 to 60 miles with 25 to 30 on throttle alone. I'm not even close.

  • @TinkeringTurtle

    @TinkeringTurtle

    3 жыл бұрын

    Pedal assist 3 (PAS 3), if your running the stock 0-5, is a very high power setting. It will deplete the battery very quickly. In addition to that, the first half dozen charges on the battery will balance the cells and give you a better battery output. Charge it full and unplug it for 30 minutes then plug it back in for an hour. This will help balance the cells inside. You should get around 30 miles on throttle alone (give or take depending on terrain and how hard you push the bike) and up to 65 miles if your on PAS 1 and pedaling with some effort. If you continue to have issues after that contact Himiway for guidance.

The ebike forum on ElectricBikeReview (EBR) has horror stories about Himiway (mostly about missing and broken parts and support coming directly from China, i.e. “Ken”). The consensus is to stay away. All the reviews on KZread on the other hand don’t have a bad word to say about the bike. I am reaching out to you because you say that you’re just a customer and have no connection to the company. I believe you. Are the complainers just a few one-offs? Or, if I’m not a tinkering turtle is this not the ebike for me. I like the bike and it’s at a price I can afford. There are no guarantees. But it’s notable that Himiway, from my understanding, has sold something like 10,000 bikes give or take ... In the last year. Even if a hundred of those bikes had issues, the odds are still in your favor. To my knowledge, everyone has eventually had their issues resolved. Don’t let one, or even a handful of “squeaky wheels” sway your decision. My personal experience with Himiway. I did not have any major issues. Some scuffed paint (which I just touched up), and a rivet that failed (I just used a pop-riveter to replace it). So I didn’t put in any warranty issues for that. I have reached out to them about a dozen times to ask questions and get clarifications. In each of those instances I have received an email back in about 24-48hrs sometimes less. They have been courteous and mostly helpful...(sometimes there is a language barrier and it’s difficult to get detailed info across) If you find yourself in that situation just have a little patience and things should get worked out.
