Unfortunately, for the time being, you still do too few tests in Greece, and the companies offering them do not yet know how to distinguish well between southern Italians and Greeks. Clearly there have been many contacts, from ancient times to Byzantine times to recent times (contacts between fishermen and sailors).

@@thesoundinyourhead1782 The way that these tests work, is they compare your DNA to the modern populations of different regions of the world. The more people that one company tests, the more accurate your results are going to be. Ancestry DNA has the largest database and therefore the most accurate. Example… 10 years ago Ancestry DNA grouped Italian/Greek/Albanian together. A few years went by and they were able to separate Italian from Greek (more and more people got tested). As of last year, they’ve separated Northern Italian, Southern Italian, and Sardinian DNA. And they can pinpoint which regions your DNA comes from. I’ve noticed these MyHeritage tests give southern Italians a very high percentage of Greek. While most of us have a little to some Greek ancestry, there’s no way it’s that much unless one of your more recent ancestors was from Greece. Same with the North African component.

Apulia is in Magna grecia. My grandmother’s family is from irsina in matera and I also got more Greek dna than southern Italian on ancestry dna

That’s the result of the Roman Empire and not only that, geographically makes sense. No one is 100% of nothing anymore, specially Italians, they make me laugh when they say “I’m 100% Italian”😂, but they’re faces look everything but Italian😂 Scusa ma non voglio offendere nessuno!

You're wrong, in southern Italy they have mixed blood, mainly North African, Greek, Middle Eastern, Asian, because of the colonizations that lasted 1500 years, the Roman Empire has nothing to do with it. In Turkey they have 30% of Italian blood, in this case the Roman Empire has something to do with it. 100% Italians exist, but they are in northern Italy, where they originate. On average in northern Italy they have from 60% to 100%, let's say 80% on average, the rest is Spain and Northern Europe.

Il Nord-Africano risulta solo perché la maggior parte dei sefarditi (ebrei spagnoli) scapparono nel Maghreb e adesso i maghrebini attuali sono sangue misto con costoro (pur essendo musulmani). Ciò non significa che tu sia maghrebino, ma che loro sono in parte ebrei spagnoli. If you follow turkish results you will see that it is very similar, I do not know how but we have a lot in common. But the greek gene is not true. I think you should will upload your results to gedmatch.

@@havarqihalo8167 The Turks that came into Anatolia were 100.000 they increased their numbers by intermarried whith the Greek,Armenians and Slavs. Also in the central Anatolian region were already a huge Muslim (but greek) minority which assimilated into the Turkish community. The reason that we don't have yours DNA is that it was illegal in the Ottoman years for a Christian to marry a Muslim women and if a Christian woman had children with Muslims (aka Turks) those children were part of the Turkish community and they were considered Turks.
