My Half + Half Triangles Wrap Collection | Edible Thoughts Makes

Hello!
Welcome to Edible Thoughts Makes. My name is Stephanie (she/her/hers). In this video I chat about all the Half + Half Triangles Wraps that I have knit! Each have something different from the other whether in colors used or the number of stitches cast on or...some other modification from the pattern.
Closed captioning and video descriptions are included for accessibility (choose the non-auto-generated option).
Cheers!

    That was a great, informative episode! Thank you for sharing! I had the idea pop into my head at the end when you were snuggling all your wraps that if a person didn't want to use them as shawls any longer, a person could sew 4 of them together as a big blanket, if they were the same measurements!

  • @EdibleThoughtsMakes

    @EdibleThoughtsMakes

    5 ай бұрын

    Thank you so much! Absolutely - they're a bit of a shlanket to begin with and could totally be a really cool huge blanket if knit to the same dimensions. Or if they were the same dimensions, a bit of pick-up and modular knitting for the "spaces in between" could be done too for a "quilty" look.

I've made two, and love them both (Rosewood Pink w/Stonewall Gray & Kiln Red w/Stillwater Blue). Great pattern, so many possiblitiies. I also was taken with your Coloring Book Tee. Just found your channel and SO glad I did. I am working on my second 1/2 & 1/2 wrap. I was hoping to get it done as a Christmas present for my granddaughter who is a freshman at University of Kentucky. So, my colors are a royal blue and white-the school colors. However, I broke my hand and couldn’t knit for over a month. I’m back to it now, but won’t be finished by Christmas. My first one was in the very same color as your first one. I love the pattern, the knitting and the wearing of it. I like the idea of just knitting 1/2 the triangle, I might try that myself. Thanks for your video.

    Woke up at 2:00 a.m. and decided to watch this video again . Ah, the H+HTW in all its seductive wonderfulness times seven. You've worked your Linen Quill color magic with each one, and my favorite combination from your collection is the Dark Iris + Chestnut Red. I love your inspiration for the Love Note one-triangle version and the way its details add to the epistolary theme, even to Dark Denim suggesting ink. I've found that the Soirée Scarf pattern from Purl Soho makes a nice mini version of the H+HTW, because it too has an increase half and a decrease half but on a smaller scale. Each half can be a different color, like the half wrap. I'm using Quartz for my Soirée Scarf in Cardinal Red and Lavender Moon, and one skein per color is enough for the scarf.

    How nice to see your Collection!! Wayyyy back, before I made my first H&H, I watched your video showing how you styled these wraps. Tipped me over the edge into H&H Land! I’ve made 2, yarn on hand for #3, but… I’m actually thinking of sweaters using L.Q. (Light to dark blues, Coloring Book pattern/stripes!!!) The Quartz yarn looks scrumptious! Annnnd, I’ve just finished S. West’s Chevron Shenanigans shawl, have enough leftover to make another … “Not-quite Half&Half” triangle like yours. 4 variegated, fading colors. Thanks for more ideas!

    A sea of endless garter isn’t for everyone. Maybe it’s okay to unravel and use the yarn for something else….? It’s quite a big project to slog through if you’re so bored…. I guess maybe ask yourself why you’re knitting it if you aren’t enjoying the process? Is it worth it to you?

    I have yarn coming for my second half and half. I like you only used a small amount of the 3rd skein. So I only ordered two of each color. I've been wondering how many stitches I should cast on. I think 230 will be the lucky number. I love having a mindless knit in addition to a sweater on the needles.

    Hi Stephanie, and thanks for this video! I'm slogging away at my half and half. It's slow because I only knit when I'm at Dr's offices, etc. I'm thinking of adding some stripes to the second half. What is your technique for joining a new color, and weaving in ends? I imagine you just tuck them in the edge? Also wow wow wow I LOVE the one you made in Quartz! I have my first Grandchild on the way and I'm thinking....baby blanket!

  • @EdibleThoughtsMakes

    @EdibleThoughtsMakes

    5 ай бұрын

    Thank you so much! I weave them in either by duplicate stitching or going up and down in the garter bumps (not sure that's very informative but my brain can't figure out how to explain it otherwise currently lol). I cross the ends when joining in a new color before weaving them in to make sure there's no hole. Happy knitting!

    Thanks for sharing! 😊I consider knitting this every year when Pearl Soho has their Black Friday sale. And, every year it gets put aside so I can work on holiday gift knitting. I’m thinking this would be a great Christmas cast-on with some stash yarn. Do you think Knitpicks Hawthorne fingering would make a good wrap? It’s 80% Fine SW Highland Wool & 20% Polyamide. Or would you recommend something with more drape? Thanks so much, Christina

  • @EdibleThoughtsMakes

    @EdibleThoughtsMakes

    5 ай бұрын

    I feel like something more drapey and lighter might work better for such a big project? Knit Picks Hawthorne definitely leans on heavier fingering weight or light sportweight and has a really tight twist (which makes it great for socks!) - you could still do it but maybe go up a needle size or two to a US4 or US5. The final fabric would probably feel heavy but I don't know for sure since I haven't done it myself. I would recommend you swatch and see what you think! Otherwise I might go with a single ply merino or something with silk or alpaca for more drape. Hope that helps!
