    Channeling a little Paul Harrell here: "Out of the four-inch Smith and Wesson M&P, we have a velocity of thirteen twenty-two, and out of the nine-inch Glock 20 we have fifteen seventy. That's a difference of one hundred fourty eight feet per second. This of course comes with the caveat that Chronographs don't always agree with each other and can be affected by things like weather, barometric pressure, daylight, the phase of the moon, and what you had for dinner last night. Now, is a hundred fourty-eight feet per second enough difference to make a difference? For these cartridges out of these guns, I would say probably, but ultimately, you be the judge."

    I find 7" or so to be just about the ideal barrel length for 10mm. Not long enough to be excessively difficult to carry, but long enough to get defensive 155 grain hollow points up over 1600fps. Have you ever considered using a syringe or baster to fill up those eggplants with water so they explode more impressively? They're hollow enough in the middle that they should support a few ounces of water at least, and water always explodes better than a hollow vegetable. Thanks for the video, KB!

    The other advantage of that long barrel is that if you press it against the target (like in a bear attack or something) the slide wont get pushed back out of battery preventing it from firing. Probably not as reliable as a revolver and certainly a bit unwieldy but that feature is still a point in the favor of a longer barrel that pokes out a good bit from the front of the slide.

    @Brian Sipe keep in mind, in a semi-auto pistol. When the round is chambered, and the slide is in battery, tolerances create a "sealed chamber". Once the trigger is pulled, gasses need to go somewhere, and the barrel is it's only exit. Clog the end of the barrel by pressing against something to trap those gasses, and where do they go? Only a ported barrel will not have this problem. Watch his videos about squib rounds blowing up various guns to see worst case scenarios. He even has a horror story of a worst case scenario/freak accident

  • @bmw328igearhead

    @bmw328igearhead

    Жыл бұрын

    @@bobjames2312I disagree with your assessment. Big difference between a close contact shot and a squib load. I would strongly suspect that a "contact shot" (up close and personal with something big charging at you) would not block the barrel in such a manner as to allow a pressure spike as you described. Hold your finger over a bike pump outlet. That is like maybe 30-90psi to unseat your finger. With a firearm, that pressure is thousands of PSI. So by the time the barrel pressure is clearing 90psi, its forcing the animals skin away from the muzzle and allowing the rapidly rising pressure to escape without harming the firearm. That same pressure has now ripped open the animal and injected hot powder gasses into the, now hopefully, carcass. Not to mention, how many humans have been killed over the years by point blank shots, ain't none of their guns exploded from it. If you can counter this with proof, please detail as such. But I firmly stand that there is a substantial difference between a squib load and a close contact shot. Former can be deadly to the user, the latter, only for whatever is on the muzzle end.

    I have 11 different Glocks at the moment, with at least one 6" longslide each in 7 different calibers. My G20L, 10mm with a six inch barrel and a massive 10 port Carver Compensator, is easily the lightest shooting of all on my Glocks. I load my own ammo, the hotter you load the ammo the more gas it feeds to the compensator, and with nuclear, firespitting loads the recoil is so low that the slide is barely cycling, despite an 11lb recoil spring. 357 Sig is surprising too, it is absolutely the one pistol caliber that needs a 6" barrel. One of my two G24s (.40s&w longslide) has a 6" 357 Sig Barrel from KKM in it, and it is fantastic. In subcompacts, 357 seems more snappy and loud, in full sized guns, the 357 and 40 are a lot more similar, but with the 6" barrel the 357 feels much more like 9mm than 40s&w. Except, you can tell its really going. Not as loud of a muzzle blast as a short barrel, but a definitive supersonic crack that isnt present on 9mm/.40/10mm/.45. According to Ballistics By The Inch, 357 Sig picks up an extra 150ft/s and 100ft/lbs of muzzle energy from the extra 2 inches of barrel, which makes 357 Sig out of a 6" barrel as powerful as double-tap or Underwood 10mm out of a standard barrel. My other favorite Glock is 40 Super. Not 40 S&W, but 40 Super, aka 40 Sig. Its a 45 Winmag case shortened to 10mm case length, then necked down to 10mm. It's nearly double the power of a 10mm, equal to a 41 magnum. Runs like a Champ out of my G21L with a 6" Barsto barrel and a big AR15 muzzle brake. It absolutely sounds like a rifle, not a pistol, but it is extremely pleasant to shoot.

Triton the original factory ammo developer/producer had a 135 gr @ 1800fps and 971 ft.lbs of muzzle energy. The case originally started as a .45 cal Winchester Magnum, but Starline who worked with Triton to design the case they strengthened the web and the wall up to the neck. Unfortunately it will not feed reliably in the 45 cal Glock double stack mags without a follower the is not longer made, the single stack Glock mags work perfectly.

    With amount of food and soda you shoot, you gotta have a world record size raccoon runnin' around the range lmao. If you ever find a big chonker out there you gotta make him the channel mascot.

    I don’t know what I like more, the mess Scott makes or his reaction. It seems like every time he gets coated in mayo or Grey Poupon, he is genuinely shocked it happened. I know it’s going to happen, you know, but Scott always seems surprised. Love this stuff, always good for a laugh or ten. Oh and I forgot, why was the Gun Range sign upside down at the intro? That T-Rex getting back at you for those horrible dinosaur jokes?

    🤣🤣🤣 I waited for almost 3yr. for Lonewolf to have these back in stock! I got so excited when I got the email notification that I bought 2 as well! Because you can never have enough BEST MILLIMETERS! Scott you always make me envious of the destruction you get to cause on your own range! Water jugs are typically the extent of my fun, and those are even frowned upon on the ranges I visit.
