I'm super excited to finally be able to share with you to vlog from my first ever sprint triathlon!
If you’d have told me, the girl who used to get the bus instead of doing that 15 minute walk to school, that one day I’d be doing a triathlon, I’d have laughed in your face…
But here we are 1:45:53 later & I’ve completed my first sprint triathlon. Many of you will know uni hasn’t always been easy. But I went home at Christmas last year and told myself I’d work towards a triathlon this year. Fast forward nine months of training through uni exams, international travels and various jobs & we finally did it!!
There have certainly been ups and downs but most importantly I couldn’t have done it without the support of everyone who has trained with me, reminded me why I’m doing this & come along to cheer me on on the day.
& now time to get planning the next challenge…

Great swim time 👍 Word of advice, don't wear valuables such as your necklace in open water swims, they're hard to find in a pool but in the open water when they're gone they're gone 😎

Congratulations on your first triathlon
This is so inspiring! Im planning on doing my first sprint tri this year. Would you mind sharing the training program you used?
Great vid 👍 Training for my first Sprint distance, here in BC, Canada (May 2023). Finding the right gear is proving a challenge. Really appreciated that you rode a mtn bike 😂 Excellent!! Hope you're hooked & will post more in the future

Ahh this is so exciting! When you say right gear do you mean bike? I didn't upgrade any of my kit until after the first race because I wanted to make sure I actually enjoyed it. I've now got proper running trainers (instead of my old cheap ones!) and have looked at getting a proper road bike in the last couple of months. Let me know ho you get on with your tri - I'm sure you'll be hooked after the first sprint!

@@ImogenWhite There's no doubt that I'll be hooked! 😄 I tend to do a lot of research on items before making purchases. Two months ago, i was just a cyclist getting into running. Now im swimming a bunch & looking at wetsuits, tri suits, goggles. You went about your gear the right way. I get carried away sometimes 🤷♂️ Your new runners & road bike will make a HUGE difference! You're going to love cycling. Getting up & out before dawn, with some good tunes or a podcast, and cycling 60km+ is the best

It's crazy - people assume triathlon is a relatively cheap sport because you technically just need a bike and a pair of trainers but there's sooo much kit involved it's crazy! Just been out for a long ride today in the sunshine and honestly nothing beats it (even on the clunky mountain bike) :))

@Imogen White Completely agree! Can't wait for cycling season here in Vancouver, BC. However, It may be a while 😂 Friends & i use Strava, a fitness tracking app, to inspire each other to push ourselves. You should check it out if you haven't already #LongLiveTheClunkyMtnBike

@@ImogenWhitewhen you upgrade your bike, weather it be a road or tri bike find the size you need and don't compromise. I'm sure you'll finish an Ironman someday.

The London Marathon tomorrow!! Wish me luck! I feel off my bike riding over ice in January and broke my wrist so tri training was only running for a while. Thank you for stumbling over my video!!

Facebook marketplace is your best friend! You can pick up a bike for quite a reasonable amount. In the meantime, if you can, get yourself on the bike in the gym to practice training those specific muscles.
