Optimus' first transformation had around 8000 animated moving parts. In the second movie, there's a character that made the studios' computers literally explode trying to render him

I’ve heard about this and that character was Devastator. They had to make 3 separate files for his model. One for his head and torso, one for his arms, and one for his legs.

Devastator. You know, one of the most crucial characters important characters from G1, who was reduced to a growling hunched over abomination in the Bayverse who did nothing and died 15 minutes after being introduced. If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know about the Bayverse' mishandling of most of the Transformers characters, I don't know what will.

Say what you want about the story and characters, I agree. But damn does it look good

The reason why Megatron's first words were his name it's beacuse sincer the grandpa found him, they started classfying and naming him NBE One, so he wants to clarify he has a name, and that's Megatron

You gotta give Sam's dad some props for not only being able to get under the table so fast and easily, but for also being able to not spill a drop of whatever he was drinking.

Heres a fun fact about Jazz's death. When he gets ripped in half he has his arm turned into its gun form, yet when he's being carried to and by Optimus his arm is in its normal hand form. Meaning he was still alive for a little while after he was ripped in half.

It doesn't matter how many times I've seen the movie, the scene with Optimus and the other Autobots arriving on Earth will always give me the good kind of chills. As a Transformers fan since 2001, I grew up hearing Neil Kaplan voice Optimus. From Neil Kaplan, I heard Garry Chalk's Optimus voice in the Unicron trilogy. I feel a little like a fraudulent fan because it took me until the live-action movies and the series Transformers Prime to hear Peter Cullen as Optimus to truly bask in the glory of the Supreme Commander of the Autobots.

Fun fact dude, All Cybertronians have an organ called a "T-Cog" that allows them to scan vehicles and transform.

It also allows them to pull out the weapons as well. A good example of this is where it was first brought up, which was in transformers prime operation bumblebee in season two. Bee lost his t-cog and couldn’t transform into his vehicle mode let alone pull out his blaster to use against the cons

Man, back in 07 one of my boys worked at the theater downtown, and was able to get a group of us in for free. We got absolutely *blitzed* and went to go watch this epic shit. One of my favorite movie going experiences.

You could also watch the Transformers Prime series, a really great introduction show for the Transformers universe. It's got great animation, fights, and a pretty good story.

The whole interaction with the Autobots at Sam's house had the cinema weak. The autobots trying to hide, Optimus trashing the yard and Ironhide wanting to kill the dog.

Glad you enjoyed the movie; alike others, this was my childhood. The combination of violence, weird humor, incredible CGI, and sound made this movie a very fun watch. @52:44, during the scene when sector 7 shows Sam and Mikaela "NBE 1" or Megatron, they stated that Megatron was the reason for most of the advancements in human technology as they studied and reverse engineered such tech. Therefore, the decision of the government was to make it as hard as possible to get to Megatron as they've already studied him. Also, I think the reason Bumblebee couldn't just self repair himself with the spark is due to how much bigger he is. While in comparison to Frenzy (the small deception), I believe being able to sacrifice limbs etc. is one of his primary functions in order to preserve himself. I'm not 100% sure this is correct but I thought I've heard someone say something similar. Anyway, Ratchet the Autobot doctor was able to repair both of Bumblebees' legs before the next movie.

They actually used a mix of practically effects and cgi Plus cgi was way more expensive back then so their was no room for mistakes

I remember watching Transformers 1, 2, 3 and 4 with my brother and dad on his laptop in 2014, downloaded on some site. Im dying of nostalgia rn. Truly a classic (1st movie)

There are two mid credit scenes, one with Sam's parents denying the existence of aliens to a reporter and one that shows Starscream leaving the atmosphere.

Megatron actually says his name after being unfrozen by frenzy because for over a century, he had to listen to millions of humans, which he considers inferior call him NBE1. Low blow to his pride and ego to be called an acronym

I like the 2007 film cause they at least kept the fact that Autobots are meant to be pacifistic protectors that'll take up arms to protect those who can't. After this movie they gradually become less and less empathetic towards humans and even actively talk about killing them at points. Another thing this movie does well that the later ones kinda falter with is the transformations, you can see how each part moves into position, parts of the vehicle are visibly present on their robot modes, it really sells the idea that these are robots that can turn into vehicles and vise-versa. 2007 is the most faithful Transformers movie that Bay has done, its great. When you get the chance, you should check out Transformers:Prime, Transformers:Armada, Transformers:Animated, and for SURE the Bumblebee Movie, they're some of my personal favorites. Transformers:G1 is okay but its certainly more of a serialized cartoon.

Man, I'm a long time fan of the franchise, started watching at Armada and back tracked to G1, got back into it when Siege kicked off, at least collecting wise. But I havent seen this first movie in a hot minute. Your commentary on it reminded me why I loved the first one (even with its flaws). Enjoy the sub my dude, hope you cover more Transformer stuff!. Assuming Don watches the rest of the Tf movies, he HAS to watch Transformers Prime. Genuinely one of the hardest shows to this day an the magnum opus of transformers.

My favorites are this one Dark of the moon Bumblebee( rebooted timeline and not connected) Rise of the beasts( sequel to bumblebee)

I think in one of the novels or comics, the reason Megatron hates humans is not only because he was imprisoned and experimented on for years was that they used the technology they gained from studying him in destroying eachother and their planet. making them unworthy of life in his eyes.
