Plus you can also check the og batman tv series that came out in the 60's. It got released in full color and remastered on bluray. Adam west as batman and burt ward as robin. It's a very different kind of Batman. Very silly, action packed for its time but it is good. 3 seasons happened just in case if you were interested.

This is my 2nd favorite after Batman Begins. I saw TDK twice in theaters. After some time, I realized I hated the ending of the movie. A lot of people try to say that Nolan had a reason for doing it, but it was stupid. Batman would never take the blame for killing five people and go into hiding for 8 years. This movie had to undo all of that and Gordon looked like a liar, so it looks like they were wrong about it at all. I mean they could have blamed it on the joker at least.

This movie isn't canon to the comics, per se. Hence the freedom of the character's iteration. It's been hinted in the CW series 'Arrow' that they and Nolan's Batman shared either the same or at least very similar universe where there are no metahumans yet during this point of the story (Kryptonians definitely do not exist in this universe), just in case you're wondering if there's anything supernatural or fantastical happened. So no Lazarus Pit, I'm afraid 😂

Which makes no damn sense, that's the one thing Batman doesn't want. His whole purpose to to be there for Gotham so no little boy goes through what Bruce Wayne did...he would never fake his death just to ditch Gotham and live a boring old normal life. Not really. During Summer 2011, on-set photos found their way onto the internet of Marion Cotillard in the Talia/League Of Shadows outfit. So a lot of people already knew the twist was coming. But it was unsure if she was a good guy, villain, or mix (since Talia is back and forth on good and evil). I think now the twist is easier to see since the young Talia or what people think is a young Bane is played by a really young Joey King. Joey King is now more famous and stuff/well known than back when The Dark Knight Rises released. So if they recognize Joey King, they should be able to figure out stuff that the child of Ra's is a girl, not a boy.

I don't know if you realised this, or if anyone's told you yet but... The giant hole in which we see a metaphorical ghost of Ra's Al Ghul, where people climb out and are reborn fresh and with new eyes to look upon the world IS this movie's Lazarus Pit. They made it a metaphorical resurrection rather than a literal one. Also, can we take a moment to appreciate the moments of character breaking Catwoman does? How Anne Hathaway can capture a person acting as another person while acting as another person? Her playing the victim once the cops raid the restaurant. The tonal shift in her whole body and demeanour on that safe cracking scene the moment the mask falls and she drops the act with a facetious "Oops... no-one said it was uncrackable..." Genius.

It's three things. It's the Lazarus Pit. It's the well that he fell down as a child that made him feel helpless and drew out his worst fears. And it's a physical manifestation of his grief. It's the way Alfred sees Bruce. Like he's in a pit of despair that he can't climb out of because Batman is his prison guard. He's not reborn as a new Batman when he makes it out the pit. He's reborn as a new Bruce Wayne. Someone who is ready to move on from Batman and live a life. So this movie series begins with Bruce falling down a pit and rising up as the Batman. Then it ends with Batman falling down a pit and rising back up as Bruce Wayne.

I watched The Dark Knight Rises as part of a watching all three Dark Knight movies back to back on opening night. When we saw Bruce and Selena at the end of The Dark Knight Rises, we all cheered. We all want our heroes to have a happy ending, and we saw Bruce finally found his peace. Nolan wanted his Batman trilogy to be based in realism. When you die, you die. Most of the effects are practical. Very little was CGI. Save Adam West and Kevin Conroy (RIP,) this is my favorite Batman portrayal. You have to play Bruce Wayne right, and Bale did it. When I saw him in American Psycho and Equilibrium (2002,) I knew he was going to be right for the job.

Equalibrium is such an underrated movie and such a good film. As a teenage I was working at a movie theater and the movie came out to the theater and I went to see it. When I heard Christian Bale was Batman I thought he was the perfect part for the role as well. I also lived in Gurnee Illinois 45 minutes north of Chicago. In Waukegan Illinois which was 20 minutes away from where I lived they had a straight road for miles that no one used the road that often. They used the road for the Batmobile police chase. At the end of the road they made a fake Batcave for the Tumbler to go through. When the Batmobile goes into the cave they used the cave at a sound stage in Chicago

You know, something that's really interesting about The Dark Knight Trilogy is that Christopher Nolan's films always--ALWAYS--have some wild ass plot twist that comes out of nowhere. Except that the wild ass plot twists in these three movies are taking something wild-ass and making it work the right way all along. And a lot of Batman fans think that these movies DON'T have the plot twist in them, because we, as Batman fans, knew going into the movies that Ra's Al Ghul isn't a fan of dying, Harvey Dent isn't the White Knight, and Ra's Al Ghul had daughters, not sons. I absolutely respect how these movies will kind of shy away from the more fantastical elements of these characters, but they don't abandon them entirely, they just make them metaphorical. Like how Bane's prison... *IS* the Lazarus Pit. The part of Batman that calls itself Bruce Wayne was dead for eight years. Then lowered into a pit... but the guy who rose from the pit wasn't Batman. That was Bruce Wayne. Fully alive and in complete control, for the first time since Crime Alley. And it was Bruce Wayne who gave Batman permission to step back and say, "I have done enough. My parents would be proud of me."

@@BATMAN-ys3re Terry being Bruce's son is one thing that Nolan could've changed in this trilogy. Most people only know about that from the JLU "Epilogue" episode. I had it in my head for the longest about how the movie should ended before that KZread channel was ever created. Terry "John" McGinnis being a cop and trying to get his brother, Matt, out of the foster system after both their parents died. Their parents are split up just like in the series and Terry lives with his dad, but then their dad dies as one of the causalities of the Joker and his followers from the events of The Dark Knight, just like their dad getting killed by the Jokerz in the series. Terry goes to live with his mom and brother, but then their Mom dies a few years later of something else. Terry being in the foster system for only a year before aging out and tries to get Matt out by becoming his legal guardian, but his juvie record makes it's difficult for him to prove that he's a responsible adult. and that leads into his character in The Dark Knight Rises, including Bruce leaving the legacy of Batman to him. (BTW, Bruce was already walking with a cane at the beginning of the movie, just like old Bruce from Batman Beyond, so it just makes more sense.)

Rises is easily the most emotionally impactful of the three movies. I loved Bale's performance here and Michael Caine's. Bane is a fantastic follow up after Joker. No one would have been able to fill in Heath's shoes but Tom Hardy did something totally different and really nailed it. And of course Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. I know Michelle Pfeiffer usually gets all the love and for good reason (the suit, the acting, the looks) but Anne really gets the comic character justice while also being a cinematic femme fatale. And finally that it harkens back to the romantical epic both in scope (we have a full revolution in Gotham), aesthetic (Gotham is different here than in TDK - they showcased less modern architecture and more historical buildings - the court, Wayne estate, sewers) and love interest (we have a love triangle, or maybe even a square with Bruce, Catwoman and Talia but also Talia and Bane's relationship is open for interpretation as well). Ohhhh, and of course it has that phenomenal ending edit, starting from the explosion up to the credits. Chef's kiss. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. It's my favorite trilogy as well.

Bane's voice was done live by Tom Hardy (Mad Max), but early screenings had people complain they couldnt understand him through the mask, so he redid it on a pro sound stage & dubbed the clearer dialogue, so you still get his facial expressions of him "saying" the lines. Speaking of watching it in theaters, my theater was rowdy during all "the moments", and nobody cared because the level of comradery was off the charts; everyone was 1 family. I've never experienced that since, and I dont think I ever will again.

Ok so Miranda you GOTTA read Batman:Knightfall. It's the first appearance of Bane, and it goes over his backstory. His backstory in the comics is HARDCORE. Also in the comics he was never trained by Ra's Al Ghul. He trained himself, and smuggled in tons of books to read. He learned about Gotham from another inmate named Bird, and from then on he made it his goal to break the Bat and rule over Gotham. Bane is so freaking cool!

The one thing that frustrates me about the Knightfall storyline is Bane is too chicken to face Batman when he is in a good state. Instead Bane has to weaken Bruce/Batman by making him recapture all the other supervillains. With this strategy, I can't really take Bane seriously as a threat and it makes him just seem like a chicken. When we finally get to the fight, it's only a one-side fight. I feel Bane has to earn stuff, which means fight Batman/Bruce when he is well rested and prepared.

Is a scene directtly take from the Retur of the Dark Knigth comic; the story that redefined the Silver Age Batman; a campy superhero that would go in colorfull adventures with his teenage sideckik and his bestie Superman (see Adam West's 60's show) into the tortured ninja-detective obsessed with his mission; who is anecesary evil to keep at bay the horrrors of the nigth. This movies plot is (in VERY wide strokes) based on that comic; a retired Batman who comes back for a last ride and leads the city when it's in it's darkest hour. 'Batman VS. Superman' also took lots of scenes, situations and moments from that comic; but it lacked the depth of the comic.

@@dhorn4005well tbh, OG Batman in the '40s was pretty dark, then censoring came in and a Robin was needed. The succes of the Adam West show added a lot of camp. 80s batman was already pretty darker under influence of Marvel and solidified under The Dark Knight Retuns in '86 and Death in the Family in '88. Burton's film in '89 and Timm's BTAS finally shaped how modern audiences know Batman.

Anne Hathaway's performance is pheomenal. I especially love the transition from her maid cover to dropping the mask and becoming Catwoman just through a change in body language. I saw an interview with her where she said that she'd read Selina Kyle was originally somewhat based on Hedy Lamarr, so she went and watched Hedy Lamarr movies to inspire her performance. That's craft. I both did and did not see the twist coming. When Bruce and Miranda hooked up, I thought somewhat facetiously that "Well, the list of Batman love interests isn't long, and we've already seen Catwoman, so this is obviously either Vicki Vale or Talia Al-Ghul." Then came the reveal, and I was like "HOLY SHIT, I CALLED IT AS A JOKE!" Which I think was the intent.
