2021 Straw Harvest Begins with a slow start. I use a 1069 Bale Wagon for the first time to try to pick bales up faster. Instagram: / adam_fogg01

We have had that exact machine on our ranch for 20 years. Helpful hints: Do not let any grease accumulate anyplace on the machine. Pressure wash at least twice a year. We have had good luck with WD-40 special formula for chain, won’t drip all over. all guard’s in place, if any are missing get them . Pay very close attention to exhaust system, must keep totally sealed, not one pinhole. The straw you kicked out of the way can get blown up under machine. Seriously go buy TWO good size fire extinguisher and mount on each side outside. Better to bale out than be trying to unsnap extinguisher while your neck is burning.

I ran one of those self propelled New Holland's one year in Washington State. I have no idea how many I stacked, but it was a sweet machine!

You should be stacking the straw by hand like a real man.

Then the Prairie hay and alfalfa in between! And when you got done for the summer you had brand new designer jeans that you could wear to school holes already built in them!

We found that the 35lb bales are too light and break easily with the bale wagons. What are you using to pick bales up with? Yes I agree, a 35lb bale is easier to handle.

Too many bales for the tonnage with lighter weight bales. I say my 1089 works best with heavier verses lighter weight bales also. Also agree consistent length is less agitation.
