My first time skiing LAKE LOUISE

Спорт

The Lake Louise ski resort is absolutely unbelievable. Of course, I knew the views of the rockies were going to be gorgeous. But, I was absolutely blown away by the size of this resort and the amount terrain. If there was a mountain ranking system based on 'fun per acre' Lake Louise would rank top of the list. We lucked out with a fresh dusting of snow and skied fresh lines all day long. We did our best to explore all of the corners of the resort and even had time for chili and a pint in the gorgeous lodge. Lake Louise and Banff are really making me second guess my choice to live near Whistler. I think I need to move to Alberta.

(Loved shooting through those trees.) My friend lives in Banff, but I've yet to get out to see her place. I always wanted to see and ski beautiful Lake Louise--and now, I (well-- sort of)--have! Glad the sun came out at least a bit for you so that you could see that Lake Louise is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The restrictions on development, within the park, make the place a bit like a trip back in time, including the incredible buildings which were built at a time with different values and costs. Great soundtrack on this video, both the lack of and, when there, some interesting and new tracks. Another great adventure.

James, I would have been available to tour you around the Lake but you guys seemed to have gotten around just fine on your own. When we get low vis it's definitely into the trees and you now know there are lots of trees. In West Bowl the pruning has just begun and gets better every year plus the Juniper 2 chair next year will make for faster laps. The snow situation this year has been terrible but will no doubt improve next season. Yes Alberta is drawing lots of folks for a number of reasons, the mountains being only one. Peace Out.

Banff isn't the ski town that it was in the 70's and 80's. Every morning back then the road to Norquay was lined with locals hitch hiking to their favorite mountain.

That's back when Norquay was the CBGB's of ski areas. My racing team trained there in the early early 80's.Yeah Banff is nothing like it was 40 - 45 years ago but NO ski town is. My dad used to be Sunshine's lawyer. Staying at the Inn for a week during Spring breaks are my finest ski memories. I used to give people lifts thumbing between Banff and the resorts all the time. Stop in town for Chinese food at the Rundle restaurant apres ski. Yeah those days are...history

Too bad about the vis; definitely a day for trees, but you still hit most key zones; mainly just the boundary bowl / north cornice area was absent as well as Tower 12 (and obviously West Bowl is too big to see all of in a day). Ptarmigan chutes needs quite a bit of snow to open but the tree line the other way is usually fun as you found.

Glad we did an okay job navigating, it's always tricky at a new hill on a lower vis day. The views we did get to see were absolutely mind bending though.

Another beautiful ski town. I just love that vibe and going around the corner seeing the ski area gets me all excited and smiley every single time, I love it. Hey buddy you can't just butt in here like that while I'm talking to James. (Some weird guy wearing a fake lab coat covered in tropical hot sauce says) Pardon me sir but this is a serious medical matter. Excuse me Mr. Louise is it? Oh good, hello I'm Mountain Doctor Andy "I'd rather be skiing" extraordinaire in my own mind here and at your service. This may be a sensitive subject but I'm a "professional" and I couldn't help but notice your very large and expansive "bowls". I'm afraid this could be a serious condition. Here's my card, please schedule an appointment with my office as soon as possible so we can check out your "bowls" just to make sure everything is healthy above the tree line full of fresh pow and with little to no rocks. Ok Mr. Louise drop your pants grab your toes making sure your tips are up, higher, tips higher please. There we are, now go ahead and cough for me twice please...... Holy shit I really need to stop chugging hot sauce and watching UFO videos on youtube before bed! Hahaha

In my opinion this hill is the best in 2 things....1) Best for lapping a ton of vert/laps, and 2) The best to handle large crowds! We skied it yesterday, parking was full, yet we had the runs to ourselves. Great lap choices, would of loved to have guided u guys around to the "stashes". Only critique is, I would of left larch/Ptarmigan chairs till 1pm or later....lap the hell out of Paradise and Summit. Brown shirt was open??
