One of the greatest thing about the Grateful Dead is how they have been so open with their community. They have always allowed recording of their shows and as far as I am aware never block content on KZread. Then there's the music. My god. So many fantastic songs done in so many very different ways. Never played a song the same way twice. Some tracks to listen to. Beautiful Jam Ripple St. Stephen So Many Roads Lost Sailor China Cat Sunflower/I Know You Rider Looks Like Rain Easy Wind There are so many more. I honestly only really dislike one or two songs of theirs.

Last thing I’ll say is, while it’s nice you have the studio recording here, you need to hear the live recordings. As the band always said, they played a lot better for humans than for machines 😎.
The Grateful Dead is the greatest contribution to American music. Ever.

The band has one of the most passionate fan bases I’ve ever seen. Always Grateful and I hope we gained another dead head 🔥💀⚡️🌹
All I'll say is life is better and more fun when you are a Dead Head. Enjoy the ride.
My daughter is named Althea. For that song. Because it moved me so much in the 80s and 90s
I enjoyed watching you enjoy Althea! Incredibly relaxing👌

The Grateful Dead are a rabbit hole worth diving into 👍
Lyrics:I told Althea I was feeling lost Lacking in some direction Althea told me upon scrutiny That my back might need protection I told Althea that treachery Was tearing me limb from limb Althea told me, now cool down boy Settle back easy, Jim You may be Saturday's child all grown Moving with a pinch of grace You may be a clown in the burying ground Or just another pretty face You may be the fate of Ophelia Sleeping and perchance to dream Honest to the point of recklessness Self-centred to the extreme Ain't nobody messin' with you but you Your friends are getting most concerned Loose with the truth, maybe its your fire Baby I hope you don't get burned When the smoke has cleared, she said That's what she said to me You're gonna want a bed to lay your head And a little sympathy There are things you can replace And others you cannot The time has come to weigh those things This space is gettin' hot You know this space is gettin' hot I told Althea, I'm a roving sign That I was born to be a bachelor Althea told me, OK that's fine So now I'm trying to catch her Can't talk to you without talking to me We're guilty of the same old things Thinking a lot about less and less And forgetting the love we bring

Thanks Bre! The Grateful Dead energy is amazing...glad your feeling it with all of us!
Lol, love that she said “Ron”!! You’ll come to know him as Pigpen and he was the soul of the band the first 6 years of their existence.
Thinking a lot about less and less, and forgetting the love we bring. It's one of the greatest lines of any song IMHO and is still very relevant to this day.
Man, I miss Bre's reactions, especially to Grateful Dead. Please come back Miss Bre, you are very much missed!

Love the studio version..laid back...Live versions of this song are incredible.😊😊😊❤
I enjoyed watching you enjoy my favorite band. This song is certainly soothing for the soul. Robert Hunter's lyrics are quite sublime, drawing upon Shakespearean metaphors. Just this line ..." Honest to the point of recklessness Self-centered to the extreme " is a view into a character study of a narcistic as told from the point of view of one who loves him anyways.
look at the bobbing head. the closed eyes. the expressions and gestures: she totally gets it! "the energy overcomes you". so fun to see you finding it. there's so much more out there. have fun!

Robert Hunter who wrote Althea didn’t just settle for writing love songs. He was a visionary who understood the power of words. Words can heal and uplift and they can cause destruction and division. An old saying “ be careful of the words you speak for one never knows from week to week which ones they’ll have to eat”. Thank you for your kind and mindful and positive thoughts. “And to every season there’s a time to be born” Check out the Byrds song Turn Turn Turn written by Pete Seeger who used the biblical passage from the third chapter of the book of Ecclesiastes. And I’m no bible guy. Just looking for common sense truth where it may shine through.

@@Foreverbre93 Dear Bre, I also have to say I was very fortunate to see Curtis Mayfield perform live in Phoenix in April of 1973. It was beyond powerful and spiritual. He was an absolute genius and voice of the times, then and now. I also saw Nina Simone perform live at Newport Jazz Festival summer 1970. When a person is exposed to those high levels of creativity it’s time to receive the power and beauty and do something positive for all the suffering, be of service and help. Our great geniuses didn’t do their great work for nothing. Big Up Bre. Keep up the positive work.
It was perfect to play it in your car tho! Love your positive energy. I’m a 40 year old white dude who plays guitar, this is my fav song on earth and it just makes me feel good to see you vibing to my jam 😂. Idk why white people love seeing black people react to their fav music on youtube, but F it I’ll throw you a sub my girl 😂 One of my fav songs to bump during a sunny day, and it doesn’t matter who pulls up next to me at a red light they can’t help but head-bang with me. Your facial reactions makes Althea sound better. That’s not easy…..wonderful work here. 🔥
New subscriber here. Longtime Deadhead so this brought me here. Please do more Dead--- live Dead, not studio!
Great story line in the lyrics. Plenty of Shakespeare but Althea's story is even older. Goes back way to way before the Good Lord was born. When the heroes of Greece hunted the Caladoninon Boar. Althea's son killed the boar but let Atlanta (the huntress) take the credit which angered her brothers, there was a fight and her son killed them. The myth is way cool look it up, and know why "this place is getting hot 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is a great song by a great band and experiencing it within the acoustics of a car kinda gives you all the sounds the engineers wanted you to hear. I just stumbled upon this vid, but I encourage you to seek out more of their music. It's perfect for car listening. 🙃

Nice reaction! I liked that you sent much love to your followers at the start, it really helps bond us all. How about the Dead? Such a great band! They put _so_ much work into their songs, in part to make them seem effortless. Their themes from the poet Robert Hunter give such richness and power to their music. Try some of my favorites: Sugar Magnolia, Friend of the Devil, Wharf Rat, Uncle John’s Band, Estimated Prophet, Not Fade Away (a cover of Buddy Holly’s classic, only better), Scarlet Begonia, Touch of Gray, Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door (played with its writer, Bob Dylan), And countless others. Take care!
