I went ahead and made my own rear seat delete around my cage instead of dealing with modifying an MKAH. Your's came out clean enough I might consider going back and installing one, good work.

Yessir, the build is looking good ! The roll cage looks better with the alpine white instead of the color I was thinking (Silver to match the rims) !

For some reason I knew you'd go with yellow (which ended up being wrong lol). Not sure why but I love yellow accents, like brakes. In saying that I think a yellow roll cage would've dated too quick next to the laguna seca though, so good decision to go with the white!

The white cage looks amazing! I’m glad I changed your mind.

Awesome job John!! I'm loving the E36 content the only thing I would do is possibly throw a little seam sealer around the plates of the roll cage just in case you driving in the rain you don't have water coming into the car and maybe throw a little black paint on the bare metal of the plates so it doesn't rust!

In my opinion you should have drilled holes a little thicker than the protective cage on seat delete parts, put a protective rubber around them, push the sides through the pipes and then joined the cage kit. I think it would get a much cleaner look that way, this way it looks a little weird square cut on a round tube. But all in all a great project, keep it up! 👍 Alpine white on rims is definitely now way to go! 💎

While I sympathize with your opinion, Bro you have no idea how difficult it was to get it this clean. I can’t imagine trying to get small circular cuts lined up perfectly with the cage, everything needed manipulation as well as room for adjustment. While circular holes would have been cool, It’s much easier said than done. I do however have rubber edging I am applying to the square. As for wheels. White is definitely a jdm move, not for me on a European car. Thanks for watching

I believe you, I've seen how hard you struggle to get everything done. You might want to consider painting the joints with the screws in black, to blend in more. Cheers, and can’t wait for new material.

Looks awesome! I just can’t stop wondering… are the mounting points strong enough to render the cage really functional? It looks like it’s bolted on to the floor pan and wheel well.

@@ThicWhips Actually Hessam voiced a valid concern. A roll cage won’t provide full structural protection unless it is attached directly to structural members of the car. For example, say someone wanted to build a rooftop deck. They could install a huge beam and posts along with strong ceiling joists on the second floor to hold the deck and people weight. But the entire thing must be attached to the house structure by locating the beam posts directly above structural members on the first floor so that forces are transmitted directly to the house foundation. If the second floor beam posts are just placed on the second floor with no structural members then the entire roof deck is being held up by only the thin floor. As soon as the weight on the roof deck (like during a party) exceeds the strength of the thin floor, then the roof deck could crash right through and flatten the second floor of the house. If a car’s roll cage is not attached to structural members of the car, then it is only as strong as the thin sheet metal spot that it is bolted to. It may seem strong but say it was subjected to very high forces like from a high speed accident, that thin sheet metal could easily give way and blow right through. One scenario could be the car flipping upside down in a high speed accident. Now the roll cage itself may hold together, but if the mounting points blow right through the sheet metal floor, then the upside down car itself would come down on the driver trapped inside the cage. But if the mounting points of the roll cage are directly attached to structural members of the car, then they would form a single structure that should be able to withstand the force of the car flipping over. Hope this helps!

I recommend adding sealant to the plate, screws and bottom of the flange of the roll care as you dont want dissimilar metal corrosion destroying that beautiful project.
