This is my fav Queen performance. Freddie creates a moment in time with his voice, his mood. He is a force of nature, and the back and fourth between Freddie on piano and Brian’s extraordinary guitar orchestrations. Freddie played as if possessed, otherworldly, and Brian’s guitar spoke. Like a voice. Amazing! I do believe the girl in question who Brian pined for, was blind and pale and beautiful. Hence the lyrics. I know what it’s like to pine for a woman I’m friends with too. It hits hard

I 100% agree. It's my favorite too. Live Aid was "from somewhere in the distant galaxy" good. That was undeniably their best performance ever. BUT. There is just something about "White Queen", especially live, that's just mesmerizing. You used the word "otherworldly" and you hit that nail in the head. It's perfect. I've never been able to describe this to someone else. You can't help but to pretty much meditate on the music, and the interlude between Freddie and Brian is indescribable. It gets my complete attention every time. I've seen this video at least 30 times and you would think I would get tired of it. Never gonna happen. If I see it there I'm absolutely going to watch it again.

@@DoIttMiaaaa Awww, I'm sorry if that song wasn't your cup of tea, Honey? I don't love every single Queen/Freddie song, even tho I LOVE Freddie (and Queen, of course). Reminder (but NOT nagging!)... I think (I hope, anyway!) that you'll like the George Michael live song that I sent you the link for awhile back: "Killer/Papa Was A Rolling Stone" from the 1993 Concert of Hope. (I actually scrounged deep in the bowels of YT to try to find the "best" quality video I could... apparently it aired on live TV at-the-time and then sold on good-old-fashioned VHS tape! A few different folks have uploaded bits & pieces of the concert from VHS transfers, so it takes determination to weed thru the NOT-so-great, pretty-AWFUL-actually quality vids.)😄 I'm happy to send you the link again, if that's helpful?

Awwwww Brian’s White Queen!! It gives me a Tolkien vibe (Lord of the Rings). As you’ve read the comments below Brian had a crush on a girl in his college Biology class! Too shy to approach until it was too late! 😕 Brian commented later that they did become friends but she never knew of his affections for her! 💚💙💜

Thank you for reacting to this hauntingly beautiful song by Queen as penned by Dr. Brian May! One of the many great things about Queen is that while Freddie is the obvious frontman, each of them wrote some amazing songs, and each wrote at least one of the band's many hits! A perfect foursome!! Since you took our recommendation to react to this one, may I second Marggie's suggestion of "Liar" at the Rainbow?

  • @sherryheim5504

This is such a beautiful song written by Brian May. While at college, there was a girl in one of Brian's classes that he was very attracted to but could not muster up the nerve to ask her out. By the time he did get up the courage, she was already with someone else. He did meet up with her again many years later, both were married but they became and remain friends. Freddie's voice cries with the proper amount of longing to make this song what I believe Brian wanted it to be, and that instrumental portion with that screaming and wailing guitar by Brian with Freddie's intensity on the piano just knocks me out every time. This is my all time favorite live performance from anyone. It would be difficult to have this be as good on a studio recording where things can be done over and over then pieced together but to hear and experience this live, no Autotune, or any enhancements, is close to unbelievable. This show was on Christmas Eve and Freddie had just toasted the audience which is why he is holding a glass of champagne at the beginning of the video

I think it is from the same concert you saw now……I think everybody both guys and girls easely fall in love with Freddie, he had this big, big personality, charisma and he was very magical. Snd with that voice, face, body and the way to move….I never ever get enouth to see or hear at him, I dont now how many times I have seen interviews, dokumenteries, concert all over and over again. Everytime I see something over again its like see it for the first time ❤️❤️❤️

Freddie had the longer hair when Queen started out but around 1980 he cut it and grew the mustache. And towards the end when he was dying from AIDS, he had lesions on his face and grew a beard to cover it up. No matter which era of Queen you cover whether it's early stuff like this or the latter albums, Freddie's soul shines through and his performances are spectacular. Great reactions!

It is so easy to simply fall in love with 70s Freddie. Nothing wrong with mustache Freddie of the 80s either yet there is just something about him in this era that is so magical. I also think his sound is different during the 70s than it is in the 80s and still he sounds like Freddie throughout. The ballads are my favorite! He had to have had the strongest lungs. Able to empty them so completely and use more percentage of them than the average person. ... and then there is the piano.... he's in a trance when he's playing. Giving it his all. ❤️

Mia, if you find yourself with a spare hour or so, please lie down in a silent room where you will not be disturbed and place some good headphone over your ears and listen to the final Queen album 'Made in Heaven'. Freddie died during the recording of this album and Brian and Roger finished-off the vocals that Freddie didn't get to complete. I guarantee you will not be disappointed. But if I am asking too much, please do a reaction on 'Mother Love' from that album. And, if possible, please use headphones so you get the full benefit. All the best to you and yours, Mark. P.S. Subbed.

Love the interplay with piano & guitar (Brian wrote this one...).. look forward to more from you.. (P.S. I did like Freddie's long, silky hair.. he had that when I met the band briefly as a teenager... also, Brian was mocked for his "perm" - which was entirely natural - if you see him today - age 75! - still same hair... just silver ... lol)

Good to see you venturing into early Queen, early Queen is the best of Queen before they went commercial and radio friendly. Many will comment that this was before the days of auto tune and they are correct however ( and don't shoot the messenger ) Queen Productions, for reasons only they will know, have utilised auto tune on this and other DVD productions. They wasted their time because it didn't make much difference when the concerts are compared to with and without.

Enjoy your journey into researching Freddie. You'll find he was a very complex character and very private. He created a mystery about himself, some of it intentionally to keep the press from writing about him. He didn't particularly like the press. I'm not going to go into depth here about Freddie but there is a very, what i consider to be, sad side to Freddie's personal life. He was a very good judge of character when it came to friendships and who he let into his circle of friends, he was very loyal and generous and loving to those friends, however it is a different story when it comes to his love life, Freddie unfortunately often got himself into very abusive relationships when it came to lovers, he kind of liked it, he had to work hard to get their love and he liked that 'game'. As i say a very complex character, a genius and a very generous man.
