OMG NOOOO. You didn't do the one with the poem at the end late Lament. This one just cut off and didn't even have the closing by the Orchestra. . This is the way we heard when it came out. ...The Moody Blues - Nights In White Satin/Late Lament (Original 1967 LP Version) HQ....

They had another beautiful song from the same album called ... Tuesday Afternoon. The moody Blues were also know for their "Moody" stuff like rain and thunder and wind. A great example is .... Procession & The Story in Your Eyes - The Moody Blues... They have to be together.

You should listen to the 'live' version from the Royal Albert Hall,it is the version with a full classical orchestra behind it!,The Moody Blues were at the forefront of the prog rock movement in the sixties & seventies, this track was a worldwide hit & featured on their first Album 'Daye of future passed' released in 1967!😊

That's exactly how I felt when I first heard this song on the radio in 1967. Epic song, amazingly talented band. I hope you get to see the live version of this song when they played with a full orchestra at The Royal Albert Hall (I think in May, 2000). That should be your next reaction with the Moody Blues.

The Moody Blues were almost 2 different bands, with most of the same people. The original Moody Blues had lead singer Mike Pindar and had a reasonably successful hit song "Go Now", then Pindar left, the remaining members invited Justin Heywood (lead guitar vocals and song writing) and John Lodge to join them and this is the lineup in the video. Story is told that Eric Burden heard the band needed a guitar player and handed a mail sack of letters he received after advertising for a guitar player, first letter out of the bag was Justin Heywood

The track was from their concept album "Days of Future Past", in which the songs take us from Dawn until the Night culminating with Graham Edge's "Late Lament". Each song glides into the next by means of an orchestral segue. This is a fine track - probably the most accomplished on the album - and has been released as a charting single (I think) 3 times. However, it's best heard as originally intended in the framework of the complete album...
