There are rolling treat balls for horses that might work for Ralph. Putting alfalfa cubes in it could give him some entertainment while he is in solitary. There are also hanging "treats" for horses that he might enjoy. Also might want to consider beefing up the fence between the 2 pastures just to discourage/ensure that Ralph doesn't get in with the other animals for now.

I would put the trout in a 10% salt brine for 24h and the use the supersmoke function on the pellet grill, aim for 140-170 in the smoker and 120 for the trout. Another way is to do gravlax and that is a way to preserve the fish, filet the trout, 50/50 salt and sugar (heavy coated) and some cracked white pepper and fresh dill. Leave this in a ziplock bag in the fridge for a couple of days and flip the bag a couple of times during that time. Pull the bones and thin slices (see through) 👌🏼 This is how we do it in Sweden 🇸🇪😋

Flair, you should totally install cameras down there to not only monitor what happens. But to also see who does what when you’re not around. May be able to find out who your killer farm animal is. You may also want to get some night vision cameras too. Could contain some insane footage! Keep up the great work man!

One of my favorites is trout almondine. Basically; butter, garlic, salt&pepper, shaved or slivered or chopped almonds(personally I like to use Smokehouse brand seasoned almonds. Fillets or whole. Sautéed and delicious! And occasionally I'll add red onion 🌰 and stuff the cavity with that, or green onions.

Trout we get here tends to be a bit soggy so I fill with a bit of rice coated with a pinch of curry powder, thin sliced orange inside and out wrapped in foil. I believe it's a scandinadian way of cooking, well worth a try.

Stuff them with berries, your trout eating experience is planted fish, come to the Northwest and get a Steelhead and eat that. Next year if you can get some little red band rainbows from a hatchery in Eastern Oregon they evolved to deal with high desert streams that are low and warm in Summer and freezing in Winter, they will easily survive your Summers.

Go catch big fish in Florida someday. The only problem is that after a big snook or redfish or whatever you'll be bored with trout. I'm from Florida and live in NC. I caught all 3 species of trout here and ate them. And I caught some bass. I can't get into it. I miss the ocean and catching big critters on 6 lb test.

@@comfortablynumb9342 "The only problem is that after a big snook or redfish or whatever you'll be bored with trout" Nah. They may get bigger but there's no challenge in actually getting them to bite. They're so aggressive could catch them on a bare hook. That's no fun. Catching big trout if you ask me is way more fun, plus they actually taste good.

Nice trout you all were catching from your pond, Andrew. You'll have lots of fun catching them this winter and next spring for sure. I'll tell ya how I prep my trout. I clean mine basically the same way. And put butter in them, salt and pepper, and lots of Old bay seasoning, and finish off with both Lemons and Oranges. The orange really takes away the fishiness that trout have. Thanks for sharing bud.👍🏻

Hey Flair, I have trout fished all my life and what i to cook them is to gut them and fillet them and then let them sit in milk for about 1 minute and them put them into cornmeal and straight into olive oil to fry. But if they have red or orange meat, bake them in an oven like a salmon. Add some lemon and its good. Also Thomas Bouyant lures work very well.

This is my favourite way to cook trout up in Canada: In a bowl add real maple syrup and soy sauce (75% syrup, 25% soy sauce) and then add black pepper, garlic powder, Paprika, ginger, and some cayenne pepper if you like some spice. Pour that over your filets with some knobs of butter and bake or stick in some tinfoil and chuck it on a fire and let in cook in all that sauce. Literal fish candy so good.

That's the same system I've been using since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Not many know of that style fishing. You learn from the oldtimers that's where I learned it. An old retired guy named Emilio, couldn't speak a word of English but he showed me how and I've always used it since. Only I use Green, Orange, Pink or white powerbait eggs. Up here in BC Canada alot of our lakes 95% are trout so it's Spin, Sink, or float. Some use inline weights I use a 6' leader where I am. There's also a slack line technique, essentially you cast out and instead of pulling your line taught you let some slack out which then the fish takes off pulling your line tight "fish on" as Felix said, that way trout will always gut them so they pretty much RIP.

The best way I've found to get the fishy taste out of trout is to soak it in a brine 1 cup salt, 1 cup sugar and 1 gallon of water for an hour then smoke it at 200° to an internal temp of 160°. Let it rest for 15 minutes after removing from the smoker. 😋

My friend taught me an Asian recipe. It starts with green onion, cilantro, lemon, ginger, jalapeno this will go inside the whole fish with it just gutted and gilled so that there is just meat and the head with scoring marks every inch or two. Then sprinkle ground black pepper, salt and paparika on the outside, stuff the fish with the vegetables. Wrap with aluminum foil and cook at 350° for 20-45 minutes depending on the size 30 probably for 15-20inch trout, that is what I averaged on superior cohos. If you need better instructions or clarification hmu

if your looking to catch and release trout when you fish get salmon egg hooks smash the barbs so when you go to take the hook out it won’t kill the fish also my best luck when trout fishing is to use green power bait garlic sent also any 1/6 size rooster tail in a rainbow color or even a cheese color

Try this Ceviche recipe Fish White Onion Tomatoes Cilantro Limes Jalapeños (if you want it spicy) Lime chips are good or whatever tortilla chips you like. Depending on how much you want to make is up to you but you shouldn't need that much. Rinse the veggies and dice all of it up into a bowl/container and mix it together when finished. You can add salt to it👌🏽also the meat you season it however you like and I recommend cooking it or another way this is done is by squeezing lime/lemon juice on the meat and the acids will cook it. The meat will turn White when it's done I'd give it a couple of hours if you did it that way. Its easier just cooking it normal then adding the fish after it cools.

Flair, seeing how much you enjoyed trout fishing, you and the boys need to head over to the Lake Erie tributaries to fish for steelhead! Its a crazy experience to catch the big steelhead that run up the streams this time of the year!

build a small shed by the backyard cabin where you can store kayaks or a small jon boat and some fishing gear so you’ll always have equipment down there so you don’t have to bring stuff up and down

Hey Flair, I've found that if I filet the fish and soak it in beer for a few hours, then fry it up it tastes pretty good. Just put some seasonings on it while frying in better.

Clean and skin them. Then dip in milk or cream then put in ziplock bag of Andy’s Breading, shake lightly and place on cookie sheet with a light coating of olive oil. Bake until golden brown on both sides. They make a cooking screen with 1/8 inch holes that fits in the cookie sheet. If you lay them on the screen after they are almost done it drys them out and the meat is so good and flaky. It turns out so so good!😋

Trout Chowder 2 blocks of cream cheese 8 cups of water 1 bag of southern cut frozen hash browns 5 strips of bacon cooked and chopped in pieces 3 green onions chopped stems and all 1 can of mushrooms 1 bag shredded mozzarella cheese 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1-2 cooked deboned trout meat (doesn't matter how trout is cooked) Boil water and add cream cheese in pieces to help it melt better. After mostly melted, add hash browns. Once potatoes look almost done, add other ingredients. Simmer for a little while longer. Now enjoy the best chowder you ever had!
