So cool. There’s a show called “Tanked” in America and years back they built a huge jellyfish tank for “Spencer’s gifts” . Was designed like a lava lamp. Lots of different colored lights and the jellyfish being the “lava” as the flow pushed them gently around. Wicked cool. I must have jellyfish someday! Didn’t know it was possible to do at home. Love it!!

A pet jellyfish is fun and different lol I’m here for it and wished I knew someone who had one. Maybe I should be that person 😅 the lighting on the tank takes it to another level

Jelly fish looks awesome! Would it be more visible with a black background? It picks up color it seems so maybe it wouldn't matter.

I wonder if some kind of colored background would help see the jellyfish better?

So cool! I didn't even know you could keep jellies as pets. They're always my favourite bit of the aquarium!!! r.e. the dwarf umbrella growing on lava stone, it's called semi-hydroponics. The lava rock wicks up water to keep the roots moist without it being fully submerged. Mostly it's done in leca or gravel, any slightly porous medium that will wick up water from below, where the roots can spread through the substrate but you can still re-pot like you would any other plant. You can grow almost anything you can hydroponically in semi-hydroponics, like the ficus trees and peace lilies you've used before. Ferns and moss are very popular for that style of growing as they're epiphytes, but anything with roots will eventually fix itself to the rock.

Is Squishy a moon jelly? Love his name. Great job Matt.

Squishy...love the name, our pea puffer is named Squishy :D The other two are Squashy and Butternut... :D Butternut is being bullied though, so going to get another 2, unsure of their names yet though.

I thought about getting a jellyfish tank but I think I'd get bored with it within about an hour, it's basically like having a living lava lamp and about an hour is about how long it takes me to get bored with a lava lamp too. I'm not a big fan of things that just sit there and don't really do anything. I'm having enough issues with our regular non-planted 30gal tank that keeps having the nitrates go crazy and kill all our algae eaters and every non-tetra we put in it. I've had 20 gal tanks I never had undergravel filters in and rarely ever changed the water in that never had an issue with killing off fish.. in fact guppies and platties would breed like crazy and next thing I knew I'd end up with 50+ fish in it, I was also easily able to keep blue gourami without issue (other than the one that wouldn't stop messing with the 9.5 inch common pleco and got itself whacked with it's tail and killed) and they ended up almost 4 inches long before I gave them away when I got bored with the tank. I don't get what's changed recently or if it's just that there's something wrong with this tank. (secondhand from online) I've tested our tap water and there's a small amount of nitrates but nowhere near enough to explain how much ends up in the tank. I definitely need to find a plant that can compete with these fish eating it's roots. I tried putting spider plant in the tank and they just ate it's roots to nothing in a couple days.

In the state of Maine there's Lamoine STATE Park, when the tide goes out the whole inlet is nothing but jellyfish and they washup on the shore to warmup from the 46 degree water.

Thank you! No unfortunately any decor is really dangerous for jellyfish as they can rip themselves on even the softest things.

When you consider the're open ocean species then they don't normally come in contact with anything. Out diving at certain times you go through "clouds" of moon jellies. Unfortunately they are poor swimmers and float on currents, so tided bring to shore to get smashed up.@@miniscenesgb

It's a moon jellyfish and I will probably do a fact file on it.

Can’t wait to see you feed him/her. Jelly files sound great. I don’t know anything about them. Here in California Monterey Aquarium they have the super big Jellies you can see right up close. I am always a little sad that I can’t have them at home. Now you do! Yay! More information please. Great Video as always . Fun to see you so excited too. Can’t wait for the new fish room too! 😊
