When you receive your commission packet in the mail and have purchased you bonds, then you can do a walk-in, by appointment or by mail for your oath and filing. By mail, you must get your form filing and oath done by a regular notary public. You alway need to be insured/ bonded prior taking your oath and file as you will need to present that the day of your oath and filing. Your commission packet will be provided with instructions of steps needed to take.

Yup! I know, it sounds scary lol That's why you need to study study study. Keep reviewing the documents until you know you're ready. A good indicator is that you can go over a mock loan signing with yourself or a family member. The nature of this industry holds privacy to a high standard. You can't shadow somebody because it's invasive to the borrower. You'd be seeing all of their personal information. Also, it would not look professional to bring someone along.

Hi Julissia. Hello. It’s important that Notaries familiarize themselves with details of their E&O policy so they know exactly what is covered. Some Signing Agent tasks that do not involve notarization, such as delivering completed loan documents or loan checks, may not be covered under an E&O policy, for example. Currently NNA is $179 for just the training PLUS another $115 for the fingerprints and application photo. The CA Sec of State provides a list of approved notary public education vendors that are cheaper than NNA's price (lowest I've seen was $36). If anyone has advice as to why you'd choose NNA vs CA SOS approved notary public education vendor, please let us know. Thanks in advance!
