My First Impressions Mercedes-AMG A35

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I share my first full impressions driving the Mercedes-AMG A35!
We have days in ours lives which we will remember for a very long time. Well, today's video is one of those days and I hope the experience shown in the video gives you an idea of how fantastic this car really is.
Lets start from the top. I have never driven or been in a new model A-Class until today so I really had no idea what to expect from the Mercedes-AMG A35. I had previously driven 2013 and 2017 models of the previous generation Mercedes-AMG A45 which I have to say left a huge impression on me. I had driven those cars in the build up to looking for my next car back in 2017 and I would have been happy to have owned an A45 for sure. The difference with this car is that it is a A35 and not the full fat A45 AMG which can cost around £60,000 once optioned to a level which this owner has with his A35. For me, even though I believe the A45 is likely to be a great car, it is far too expensive to be used as a daily for every day people along with being more expensive than most sports cars and actually not a million miles of the price of some supercars out there! So price is a big factor for me and when the owner reached out to me about his A35 I was extremely grateful to be able to share the experience on my channel with you all.
I had previously met up with this owner on a few occasions when he owned a 2021 MK8 GTI Clubsport which I have to say is a fantastic car! Super fun, great value and that useful German build quality all wrapped into a desirable GTI name is something I can only recommend to others. The only downside to the new VW MK8 Golf is the infotainment which is full of glitches and really not up to the super speedy nature we are all used to in 2022. I am sure it will improve but it will take a few generations I feel. As for the Mercedes A35 there were no such problems! The infotainment is one of the best in class and from my experience the most enjoyable to use and operate. The quality and positioning of the screens along with those turbine inspired vents makes for a sensational cabin. The AMG wheel is also great to hold and the seats hug you in nicely without being uncomfortable for every day use. My summary on the infotainment and interior is that it feels like you are on a 1st class flight to your favourite destination...…perhaps even business class!
As for the drive I was worried with this model being in some ways an "AMG-Line" that Mercedes may have left a lot on the table. Well, I can safely say this is no AMG-Line! It feels very much like a car which can more than stand up to a MK8 Golf R and the current generation M2 competition. Both cars of which I have driven and enjoyed thoroughly.
The biggest highlight for me is the traction and the AMG ride control. The 4-matic system simply enables you to have fun whatever the weather! The 3 stage AMG ride control makes for a car that is super comfortable and then firm when you find a smooth piece of tarmac. I preferred the middle setting as it gave me the best of both worlds and the fact you can configure the car exactly how you like it is a big plus! I know more focused cars like the Honda Civic Type R do not allow for such individual configurations.
I could go on and on about this AMG A35 but currently for me it is the pick of the range if you are looking for a Mercedes. I have spent time in the C63S and the AMG GT Night edition, both cars costing between £70,000 to £120,000, and I would pick the A35 AMG any day of the week to enjoy as that one car garage!
I will remember this drive for a long time and I have a shorter 6 minute video now available here • My Dream Drive Mercede... , which took place after this video ended, which will sum everything up for you!
Big thank you to the owner for allowing me to have such an extensive time driving the car and feel free to drop me a DM on my Instagram or email if you would be happy to have your car featured!

No worries! I have not driven the A45 but at nearly £60K it will have to be nearly twice as good as this A35 which is really hard as they are both high performance 4WD A-Class Mercs. I would imagine the A45 is better at the limit but on the road I doubt there is much between them. I'd love to try the A45 in the future though!

There are plenty to choose from and because they are all fantastic in there own right you can't really go wrong with either of them! I have not driven the S3 or M135i but I did have a little check on Autotrader and I found a base spec 2019 A35 for £27,000 which is fantastic value for money.......personally I cannot justify buying any of these £40,000 cars new and I would always look for a used car as I have found it improves the ownership experience to have it at a more comfortable price point. It is very hard to keep up to speed with the pace in which cars are changing and sadly even this A35 will likely be replaced with a facelift within the next 6-12 months. I do struggle to keep up with them all! 😁

I owned the same car for about a year now, I even put a brabus spoiler afterwards(Didn't like the original one, it shakes when u close the boot XD) The thing I didn't like is the DCT gearbox at low speeds, it has that clunkyness when you stayed in 1st for too long. Also the interior, the design is amazing and ergonomic, but it does rattle a lot (I'm a perfectionist and i couldn't bear it).

As a former owner of an A35 premium with the aero pack, I can only comment on my personal experience, which is, the car I bought was the worst piece of crap I had ever owned in my life, couldn’t wait to get rid of it, I had it for 20 months and the dealer had it back in for warranty work for 5 months and they never managed to get it repaired to my satisfaction, I’ll have to say buyer beware.

In the US, they got the A35 AMG as a sedan but not as a hatchback. That isn’t sold anymore there. However, they still get the CLA35 AMG. The US don’t get the A45s AMG unfortunately. And anyways, happy Easter.

I owned an A35 but got rid after a year and a half. Couldn’t get along with the interior build quality, so many rattles, loose plastic, and just poorly put together. Seats look good but aren’t that comfortable compared to seats in the golf, S3 and M135i. I think the exterior also looks a bit dated IMO, and especially compared to the beefier A35 looks a bit underwhelming now. Just my experience and I know everyone is different

Thank you for sharing your experience as an owner. I feel it's important for people to see a balanced view on the car. It's tough to choose between all these great 300hp 4WD hatches as they all offer so much at a good price point 👍

The whole build quality of Mercedes is in a different league interior and exterior to the Golfs IMO having owned all the highest spec golfs over the years. As far as the rattles etc maybe that was just a bad example... I took the M135i for a test drive and found the interior very boring/same with the S3, just a bit dull. As far as the exterior, this particular spec is just FAT and just more luxurious than what the others offer, plus the driving performance is absolutely spot on. Its basically the bat mobile!

@@alexmoofficial3767 I mean I’m not the only person I know that has owned an recent A-class and felt this way about the build quality of the interior. I actually changed it for my current car, an F40 m135i which I have to say is a much nicer place to be for me. Which just goes to show how much this is down to the individual, what they like and each to their own! I also feel the m135i from the back just looks beefier, more angular and to me more pleasing to the eye. M135i has more torque and I notice the difference especially low-mid in the rev range. Don’t get me wrong though I love how much you two are both into your cars and I love hot hatches too. Keep up the content, it’s good to see 👍🏼
