My FIRST DRIVE in the AMG ONE!

The day has arrived for my first drive in the brand new Mercedes-AMG ONE! A road car with a Formula 1 engine, at the Nurburgring GP circuit, and permission to push it flat out - the stuff of my dreams. Join me for the full experience with AMG to see what it's all about!
It's been a long time coming with numerous hurdles along the way, but finally the most successful F1 engine of all time is ready to be fired up in a car that can be bought by the public. Only 275 ONEs are to be made and a lot has been said without regards to the time it has taken to get to production, the weight of 1,695k and the relatively 'low' power output of 1,063hp, but there's always more to a story like this, and what a story it is.
Mercedes have dominated the Formula 1 world championship during the 1.6l TT V6 era with Lewis Hamilton, Nico Rosberg, Valteri Bottas and now George Russel driving cars powered by a derivative of the very engine that you can now find with a simple start button in a road car. The feat cannot be underestimated, no longer is a full crew of mechanics required but you and I can hop in, press the button and away we go with a spine-tingling 11,000rpm available.
On a personal level as an AMG fan and obsessive customer, a supporter of the Mercedes-AMG F1 team, and somebody who appreciates road cars with true motorsports connections; this is the car I have been looking forward to driving the most in recent years. Therefore, when the opportunity came up to head to the Eifel Mountains despite it being Car Week, it didn't take long to decide to postpone my trip to California to be at the Nurburgring for a day to never forget.
With the morning kicking off in the rain, and therefore a few slow laps following Bernd Schneider in the AMG GT Black Series to test out the different modes; EV, Race Safe, Race Plus and Strat 2, fortunately it clears up and the team let me have another go... and what a go it is!
Today we'll take a full look through the AMG ONE experience; from the procedure to start it up, to how the driving modes work and ultimately what it's like to drive at pace around a race circuit. I still can't believe this day actually happened and am exceptionally thankful to all involved; what a piece of engineering, what an experience, and what a car.

The emotional connection of driving cars is never usually portrayed through videos, but the noises, looking at the speedo whilst the car was going through corners and also Tim's reaction made it quite obvious what this car does to the driver. Truly special.

No!! this is only a small V6 and some other car are much faster and have better Sound! Aston Martin Valkyrie thats a much more better car there have a V12!!

the closest i have ever gotten to driving this car is in forza; but seeing you getting to drive it for real is otherworldly. Congrats on your success so far shmee and here's to many more. Big up from Jamaica

Personally I don't give a care about a hypercar that's not made for racing. I prefer cars like Mosler, ktm x bow gtx, porsche gt1 evo, saleen, pagani zonda gr, and other hypercars that are actually racing competitively and have been racing for years.
Tim always finds the rainy days to drive the coolest hypercars. I can't imagine the anxiety I would feel if the road was wet in a multimillion dollar car

I could feel your excitement and enthusiasm vicariously through the experience. Since I've started following your channel, you've never once taken you privilege for granted. You work, you grind, and you've been rewarded for it. Fantastic video, fantastic laps, and I am so excited for you to take delivery of your Zenvo. This though, this was a real treat!

I bet when you heard you would get the chance to drive this beast you couldn't believe your luck. I've been lucky to see one of the other development cars at Brixworth recently and in the flesh it is a absolute epic piece of engineering. And yeah the engines are so small it's quite impressive how much power they put out.

He'd barely use it, just as he rarely use the Senna either, totally track focused car isn't Shmee's favorite, they basically are weekend queens where he can make time and content centered around them.

@@MuhammadKharismawan you realise he has insurance that limits his senna and gt putting miles on? It's a UK thing.. plus he has probably one of the highest mileage focus rs heritage out there since all of them I've seen are bubble queens on delivery or near delivery miles😂

I'm glad you got to go out again. You could just tell how awesome it was by the grin that never left your face. The benefit of having the GT in front of you was that you could easily tell how much more the One had in the bag. Seems like Mercedes got the right mix of race car and luxury refinement so that it's readily and easily enjoyable but there's still ample room to push it in ways that help live out the fantasy.
That flying lap was absolutely incredible to watch. Actually got emotional watching it, it felt so raw! Unreal, so so good Tim. You’re a lucky fella! Great work

The way the combustion engine can just kick in at whichever speed and take over, or shut off and carry on with EV without a glimpse of bother is pretty nuts tech

It is great for Shmee that he practices some tracking on nurburgring, doing so the brands trusts him more to lend him a car like this. And we also love to see him around the track and seeing how he has evolved as an enthusiast.

What I found most fascinating about the car is what I expect from a car . The grip is utterly ridiculous and in the wet . My eyes were in awe of how he handled the car . It's amazing to see how much was done right. My hat's off to Mercedes AMG . I did get a chance to drive the Hammer and now I know...Cheers all and great go Tim ...EPIC...

What an experience, so cool.
I think the main reason for the lack of dct was length due to engine layout but lighter yes and also very important, it so efficiently recovers power that they torque fill the gear changes with the energy to help manage the battery
