Welcome to SG! The seafood in the laksa are cockles, a kind of shellfish. You can request to exclude cockles when you place your laksa order. And it's not compulsory to order drinks at any local coffee shop when you are dining there.

Welcome to my country! Hope you have wonderful time here. Its hot, yes it is humid. Rain can come quite quickly sometimes too. There might be days it will rain nonstop. Food is amazing here. You have affordable ones and expensive restaurants too. Go try the local coffee. A good place to start is Ya Kun. There are other places of course.

@@Sanieum Tough one dude. Its like opening up a can of worms! haha! Ask any Singapore for their favourite chicken rice stall, you will get tons of different answers. For Chinese food, I do like to go to Crystal Jade restaurants. They have the slightly affordable ones but also the more expensive options. I am sure others will differ :P. Japanese food is also very popular here. Actually Singaporeans just love to eat lah! You will not go hungry here. Just explore and go try out all the different stuff here.

For local MRT and buses, you can tap via your visa/MasterCard credit/debit card. Also,.works on Apple watch/Google/Samsung smartphones and watch.

The card that I got here in Singapore can't really connect to my Samsung phone for some reason. So, I am using EzLink card for public transportation for now. I think it's ok 👍

@@Sanieum i see thats weird or you can simply tap your credit/debit card when taking the local transports. It works either way.

Welcome to Singapore and hope you'll have a pleasant and memorable stay here. I suggest that you hop on a train to a residential town such as Clementi or Toa Payoh so that you can mingle with the locals and see how they live.

Welcome to Singapore! I'm Singaporean but living overseas. Hotel Boss is quite a centrally located hotel so it's a good choice. I stayed there during my visit to Singapore recently. Sungei Road laksa has been there for ages. I grew up eating laksa from this stall since it was still a food cart. Enjoy your stay and experience. All the best.

Ooh. That place you walked past the Teochew Porridge is pretty good (The one you were saying it’s too local hehe). Its kinda just dishes and you can eat it with either porridge or Rice!

you don't have to get drinks at coffee shops! they're just asking if you'd like a drink, and they'll deliver it to your table if you do order one :-) also if you have a debit/credit card you can use that for public transport! (just beware of foreign exchange fees if you're using an overseas one)

I still don't know what they were saying, but drink was good actually so I am not complaining haha! It's good to know! I went to multiple hawker centers so far but definitely will try more! I am down for affordable price & good food 😋

@@Sanieum tbh as a singaporean, idk what they were saying either, sometimes the older (chinese) generation can't really speak english so it's broken english + their accent might be really heavy :) it's just common practice that drink stall staff come up to you and ask if you'd like a drink so that's what i'd assumed usually they say 要喝水吗? (yao he shui ma) which is "do you want a drink?" translated literally it's "do you want water"

@@berenice3626Because you're East Asian and the Chinese-speaking uncles and aunties presume you're a Singaporean Chinese and so they speak Chinese to you. All you need to do is : "Can you speak English?", and definitely they'll switch to English, but broken ones like, "You want drink or not?", "You want four dollar one or five dollar one", or "Eat here or tabao" (Eat in or take away).

Seem like you love spicy food.

You don't have to wear your mask when you are outdoor. Wear mask when you are indoor, such as in a building, public transportation.

@@Sanieum you won't get judged if you don't :) but most people are still worried about getting covid since the case numbers are pretty high right now. if not, they're just lazy to take off their masks since you have to wear it indoors anyway :-)
