Just in case you missed this msg on your Durban post: Hey Sly, trust you well brother. Listen, I know you are still in Durban, and not sure if you have plans on coming down to Cape Town, but if you are, here are a few tips. I know from watching your videos that you mostly figure out your way once you land in a place but feel free to consider any if not all the below options. The places all recommended are mostly areas, activities, or sites (all free) so bars, restaurants, and establishments will have to be determined by yourself, given how much money you have to splash.  The areas that I recommend for accommodation: Cheapest will be in the City Center however I would recommend Green Point, Sea Point, or the surrounding areas. A little pricier but it’s safer and you have more options, especially when walking or taking short uber rides. A really good, clean and cheap hostel would be "Once in Cape Town" out in Kloof Street. If you do decide to stay in the CBD, a good breakfast spot would be The Ladder in Bree Street. Ask for Nick and tell him Mark recommended the place. If you are in Green Point or Sea Point, then try Jarryds Espresso Bar and Eatery or just head out to Tashers at the Waterfront. Some of the more obvious stuff: 1. Cable Car up Table Mountain (or if you fit enough, hike up Platterklip Gorge to the top)…(approximate time 1hr30). Hike back or take the cable car down. 2. If you are not brave to scale Table Mountain on foot, then a must-do activity on a Saturday or Sunday early morning is a short hike up Lions Head. Beautiful and well worth it. (approximate time: 45min). Can be done any day of the week and is equally safe with plenty of other hikers on this route. 3. Food Markets. Two of the biggest or more popular markets are 1. “The Old Biscuit Mill” in Woodstock on a Saturday morning only, +-10:00am - 2:00pm. Very popular with tourists. Don’t wonder about beyond the outside boundaries of the market as the neighborhood isn't that safe but the market is fantastic. 2. Oranjezicht Market, the other marker is next to the V&A Waterfront, close to the stadium. Open Saturday and Sunday mornings. (note this market is not as big as the former) 4. Cape Point nature reserve. Where the two oceans meet. This will require a private uber and my guess would be to negotiate a price for the day or afternoon as the distance is far but worth it. If you going to take this trip I recommend you do it the following way. Drive via Muizenberg, passing Kalk Bay, Fish Hoek, and Simons Town and heading back via Chapmans Peak (a circular route otherwise known as “trip around the Peninsular”. In fact, I recommend you do it in reverse so that you can stop over for lunch and drinks in Kalk Bay or Muizenberg. If you start early enough and planned your day well, stop over at Boulders Beach to see the penguins. One ticket gains entrance to two entrances at opposite ends of the beach. The one takes you to an outlook post and the other right onto the beach where you up close with the penguins. As you make your way back “home”, you have the options of stopping over at Fish Hoek Beach, Kalk Bay for lunch by Santori and drinks perhaps at Cape to Cuba, and finally, Surfers Corner at Muizenberg Beach for a quick few pics (maybe a coffee) or drinks. 5. Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens (not free but not expensive either). Roam the garden or wander a bit further up into Skeleton Gorge. 6. Parts of the CBD is not safe at night, especially with a camera. Long Street was very popular back in the day but now it’s quite sketchy so I wouldn’t bother. If you wish to experience the bar scene or nightlife, then I would recommend parts of Bree Street (especially "First Thursdays" that occur every month) or Kloof Street. Big tip, if it's dark and quiet, stay clear as there are lots of robberies in parts of the CBD that are especially less crowded. 7. As far as walking and feeling safe goes…..in the CBD it’s safe to walk Kloof Street and parts of Bree Street as mentioned but generally, you are good to go day and night in Green Point, Sea Point, Waterfront, Granger Bay, Mouille Point, Camps Bay, Bantry Bay, Clifton (these are only areas within a specific 10km radius on the outskirt of the CBD. 8. I highly recommend doing a sunrise or sunset walk/run from Sea Point promenade to Camps Bay and back (or taking the uber back). If I were you, I’d do this every day, twice a day. 9. Restaurants and Bars - best places would be Sea Point, Waterfront, Camps Bay, Moulli Point, and Kloof Street (e.g. Kloof Street House is good) 10. V& A waterfront is a must…a huge waterfront shopping district. 11. Robben Island boat tour…if you really must but it's boring. 12. Hop on Hop off bus tour (few options to choose from) 13. If you can afford another uber for the day then I highly recommend you check out any of the wine farms in Stellenbosch or in the town of Franshoek (a better option but slightly further). If that is too far, then try out any of the wine farms closer out in Constantia. 14. Two secret beaches - Bakoven Beach and Beta Beach. Located next to each other just a little further beyond Camps Bay Tidal pool in Bakoven. 5-10min walk from Camps Bay tidal pool. Speaking of beaches, Clifton beach 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th beaches are beautiful with Clifton 4th being the most popular. 15. Paragliding off Signal Hill or Lions Head. The launch spot is determined by the wind direction. If you wish to skip the paragliding, then visiting Signal Hill is also worth it. This will give you a good overall experience. Hope this helps, safe travels and thanks for the great content. Been following all your travels since Medellin. PS: I really wish I could have shown you all these places myself.

The simplest and cheapest way to see the major cities of South Africa, is simply to take one of the sightseeing buses that take you to the main attractions. If you see anything you want to explore in more debt, just take a uber there after the bus tour. For a US tourist, everything in SA is ridiculously cheap because the SA Rand aint worth crap. Also you got Cape of Good hope, the most southern point of the African continent, where the Atlantic and Indian oceans clash. You can take the red tour bus there, save on money or rent a car like I did. The red bus also goes to the wine area. I stayed at Hotel Sky but there are plenty of good airbnb along the beach or near town. You can also do a few township tours and meet the locals. The red bus does a township tour for less called Lania. There are other companies that do township tours check our airbnb and Expedia website. I did a few of them. Have fun and enjoy.

Very interesting and informative. Btw Hake is very popular in France,Spain and Portugal it’s super tasty. Apartheid denied dignity and human rights to non- whites, so we owe respect to those who fought to crush it and permit you to experience SA without the humiliation of the past…Steve Biko,OliverTambo, and Nelson Mandela….others too.

I see most of it is Tartaria. That same hake fish and chips cost around 30-35 Namibian dollars or Rands. Namibia uses both currencies. That hake and fish is literary the main fast food of Namibia sold everywhere in the country local fast food joint. That hake fish cost less than 30 Rands or Namibia dollers that chips portion go's for around 5-10 dollars. In total around 35 Rands.
